Behind The Alpha Series Book 6 Oliver

Chapter 10

(Chapter song ‘Voodoo’ by Godsmack)

EZRA

“Get that trash out!”

“OK! Don’t be an asshole!” I growl at Paulie as he barks at me.

This job is really starting to grate. Between Paulie and the vermin that drink here, it’s getting more difficult to keep my wolf at bay. I’ve used up my Croak and will have to hunt some more out tonight.

Oliver has also been testing my wolf. He won’t stop coming around and it’s driving her insane. She wants his throat. I can’t reason with her. It makes her more angry. She calls me weak. I can’t control us. I’ve told her to shut up so many times, it’s starting to give me headaches. She just pushes and pushes. I can feel myself getting weaker against the constant fight. The challenge is rising and if I don’t drown her soon, she’ll strike.

I drag the black garbage bag out back to the dumpster. I lift the lid, throw it in and close it. Just then, distance howls came from behind me.

I spin around and look around the property, then the treeline of the small section of forest that sits back here.

I carefully study the black gaps in the trees looking for any sign of wolves.

More howls come from the side and I snap my head in that direction. I peer into the darkness of the lot.

‘Ezra!’

I whip my head the other way and hold my breath.

The howls rise, surround me as I start to panic. My breathing speeds up and my eyes look wildly all around me.

‘The games over, precious…’

I turn to the lot on my right. My face falls and my brows stitch up. I brace myself on the dumpster as I watch the shadows beyond the lights in the building.

I start to tremble.

‘Come on, baby. Stop running…’

Tears well as he steps out of the shadows.

I shake my head and start to back up. “No. Please…” I beg.

Growling barks come from the trees. I swivel my head to the wolves stepping out of the trunks. Eyes glowing bright red and muzzles snarling.

He holds his hands out. “There’s nowhere to go, precious.”

I back up as a tear falls. “No!”

I spin around for the door and hit a large chest. I yelp and back away.

“Jane?”

I give Oliver a panicked look. I can barely catch my breath. I whip my head to the wolves stalking closer. I can feel the growls in my chest.

“What’s wrong?” He looks to the wolves and looks me over.

“The…no!”

‘Ezra! Come here!’

I look behind me as Michael stops and points to the ground in front of him.

Oliver grabs my arm. “Jane, what’s going on?”

“NO!” I growl and rip my arm from him. My wolf lashes at me and my face twists in anger. “LEAVE ME ALONE!!” I scream and shove him aside.

‘EZRA!!’

I ran for my life. The wolves howled and barked behind me. They were right on my heels. I feel them.

I just kept running. My wolf felt like she was waging war in my chest. It hurt as she attacked my head.

“STOP IT!!” I cry.

I run to a quiet section of town where an abandoned building sat. The building I’ve been living out of for the past few weeks.

I jump on the wall and call my claws. I climb up to one of the windows and enter the building.

Feet first, I jump down. I land on my feet and run to the back of the building.

I hear the howls outside. “They can’t find me. He can’t find me.” I wrap my arm around myself and pound my forehead. “He can’t find me. He can’t find me.”

‘Kill.’

“No.”

‘Kill!’

“NOOO!” I stop and yell to the wall.

‘Pathetic!! Weak! Worm!!’

“SHUT UPPP!” I grab my head as I stand in the middle of floor.

‘MAKE ME!!’ She yells then slams my head hard.

“STOOPPPP!!” I double over and try to fight her back.

‘I'M THE ALPHA!! YOU CAN'T WIN!’

I straighten and scream to the ceiling. I grip my hair almost pulling it out as I fight her back. “YOU BITCHHHH!!!” I stumble around the floor as my wolf bites at me and tries to shred my brain. “I HATE YOU!!”

She slams her body over and over against the front of my mind. Fierce flashes of open jaws attack behind my eyes. Her projected thoughts full of hatred and murder.

I feel her try to tear through. My eyes glow red, my canines descend and my claws come out. I lean forward and roar a growl that shakes the walls.

I rear back, grip my head and try to beat her back.

“NOOOO!!!”

‘I'LL KILL YOU!!’

She sinks her teeth into my mind and I whip around frantically, trying to get her off. She growls so loud, my brain feels like it’s about to burst.

“I'LL KILL YOU FIRST!!” I close my eyes, scream and run, slamming myself into the concrete wall. My feel head crack and I crumple to the floor.

I felt blood trickle down my forehead as my eyes got droopy. “You…bitch…”

The world goes dark and my wolf walks backwards into the dark, growling as I fall into unconsciousness.

****

I jolt awake and my head is pounding. I hold my broken head as I lift myself up. I feel it. It’s healed, I’m just aching from her attack.

I hold the wall as I get to my feet.

Stumbling through the building, I go to a maintenance closet where a sink is. I turn the water on and wash the blood off. There’s a small mirror on the wall and I see myself in it.

I see the red in my eyes and squint. “What are you looking at?” I growl and throw a fist into it. The glass shatters and falls to my feet.

I wipe the drips from my nose with the back of my hand and walk out of the building.

The battle was tiring. Her pain is mine and it hurt, but I hurt her back. That’s all I needed. Just to hurt her back. My heart is steady now. My anger lingers like a wall between me and her. She challenges still. I can feel her, but she won’t touch my anger right now.

I need the juice. She won’t stay there for long.

She has her voice back and I need to shove Croak down her throat.

‘It's not working.’

“Yes, it is.” I scowl as I shove my hands in jacket pockets. I turn onto a road out of the city. The night engulfs me and I keep an eye out for the wolves on the border.

‘My mind is stronger.’

“Your mind is sick.” I growl.

‘So is yours.’

“So what? I’m the Alpha. I’m allowed to be.” I look around the trees for any movement and continue walking.

‘You’re not anything!’ She laughs.

I look down at the road. “I’m us.” I mumble.

I hear glass smash and shoot my head up.

Laughter fills the road. Through the dark, I see a truck parked in a field. There’s three guys drinking on the bed.

I slowly walk into their vicinity and one sees me. He’s a big, light brown haired guy. He jumps down from the truck and steadies himself on it. I can tell this isn’t going to be good.

“Hey, baby. Where ya going?” He stands at the side of the road as his friends jump down behind him.

I point up the road. “That way.” I grumble.

He looks. “Why? I’m right here.” He smiles.

I stop and face him. “So?”

He looks around to his friends. “Why don’t you sit with us a while. You’re very pretty.” He smirks.

“Pretty?” I search my mind for the word.

“Yeah. Come over here.” He waves me over.

I glance at the three pairs of eyes and casually walk over.

“That’s right. Come here.” He drawls.

I stop in front of him and feel them all staring me down.

She claws at my anger. Her own pulses from her and I feel it add to my wall.

He reaches up and feels my hair. “You want to party, baby?” He whispers.

“Party?” I search the eyes.

“Yeah. With the three of us.” He touches my cheek. “We can share.” He gives me a sultry smile. “We can make you feel good.”

I raise my eyes to him. “I want to feel good.”

He grins. “That’s good. Right, guys?”

They laugh and look me over like hungry dogs.

He threads his hand into my hair and I feel my wolf rage. “I need something first.” He says and licks his lips.

“What?” My mouth goes small and I blink at him.

“A kiss. A little preview of the action you’ll give us.” He closes the gap between us.

“A kiss?” My mind starts to turn red.

“Yeah. Just a little one. Can you do that?” He moves his lips to mine.

A smile crosses my lips as I glance at his friends. My fur stands up and my teeth drip with drool in my head. The stalking in the dark. The hunt is on. I feel it build.

I slide a hand onto his nape. “I can kiss.” I say softly.

His lips mesh with mine and his tongue pushes past my lips. I hear his friends Woo and catcall as his deepens it. I pull him close as my wolfs red eyes penetrate the dark. She lowers herself and lets out a growl.

I kiss him deep then his body jolts with an oomph sound on my lips. His eyes widen and he’s frozen.

I smirk on his lips and break the kiss. I pull back as he looks down to his chest. His shaky hands raise to my clawed hand buried in his ribcage.

“WHAT THE FUCK?!!!” His friends jump back as the guy on my hand whines in shock and pain.

I look to them with an evil smile. My eyes glow red. “Let’s party.” I growl.

I rip my hand out and throw his heart at his friends. I jump in the air, call the wind and tear out of my clothes.

They try to run and shift, but it’s too late and they’re too drunk. My wolf is loose and she’s blood red in seconds.

Her demonic growls fill the air as they scream for help that won’t come. Flesh and bone spread across the field. Blood splashes and falls like rain.

Her mind is death. Her thoughts are revenge. Her teeth are the lesson. There is no control. There is no calculation. Just the killing.

Their terrified screams fill the dark as she tears them apart and eats them.

The truck bangs and shakes as the last garbled scream dies.

I lay on the floor of my mind, naked, alone and laughing on my stomach while my wolf has fun.

I like this party.
