Becoming the Alpha (Amethyst Pack BK2)

Chapter Chapter Thirteen

Lucien had been drilling us hard in both hand to hand combat and combat as wolves, the pack was getting exhausted but I could already see the improvements.

Carla had even gotten involved as she trained with my mum one on one for hours, learning how to defend herself as a human. Soon enough she decided she wanted a challenge as she looked up at me as I fought with Eric, pinning him quickly.

“How is this fair? You’re an alpha,” Eric groans, rubbing his neck.

“If we go to battle we may come up against other alpha’s, some more stronger than me, how do you expect to survive if you cannot take even me down. Concentrate! Use your senses, don’t go for something obvious!” I say as he watches me closely as I circle him before going to pounce on him, he dodges it and hits my leg, taking it out from under me, but I recover and pin him again.

“I can’t do it!” he cries out.

“That was better, I swear Eric,” I smile as I shift, pulling him up.

“Can I go against him?” Carla asks.

“You want to do hand to hand combat against Eric?” I raise a brow.

“Over my dead body,” Daniel runs up growling.

“Daniel, this is just training. Eric, would you like to help?” I ask.

“Sure, I’ll go easy I promise Daniel,” He says as Daniel growls but lets Carla come into our section as I stand beside Daniel.

“She’s doing well,” Mum walks up beside us.

“Her father taught her a few things as a kid, being a cop after all,” I say as they begin to circle each other, I watch intently.

“If he harms her…” Daniel growls.

“She’ll be fine, Daniel,” I smirk as Carla sends a punch flying towards Eric as he dodges it but only barely but she catches him out as she swings out a leg and knocks him to the ground.

“That’s my girl!” He shouts proudly as she beams, helping Eric up from the ground.

Again and again, they work with each other as my mum begins to work with them.

I walk around the grounds as I watch the packs training together, my dad’s pack was filled with wolves much older than mine who were a real force to be reckoned with as they taught my wolves more and more moves.

“They’re doing well,” Lucien says as we watch over the packs.

“But will it be good enough?” I sigh.

“They are learning quickly, we will get their cupcake,” He smiles.

I look around and notice Oliver watching over a fight between some of the older wolves before his gaze turns to me and I notice the gulp from his throat.

“I can smell the arousal of that boy from here,” Lucien growls as I laugh.

“That’s gross,” I smirk.

“I bet if you touched him he’d…” Lucien begins.

“DON’T even go there! Changing the subject…I have to turn Carla tomorrow and I haven’t got a clue what I’m doing,” I say as he smirks and nods.

“Ok. Well, when the moon has risen you will bring her out here where you and her will be surrounded by the pack, you will shift and bite her under the moonlight and she will start the change. You have to stay by her side at all times until she has completed her first shift, she will be bound closely to you, almost as close as a mate would be, you will have to work on blocking your minds from each other as you will feel your emotions clearly through each other. Once she has shifted you will have to accept her into the pack and make her submit as alpha, but she may resist at first, her mind will not be her own, to begin with as her wolf will be developing.” Lucien says.

“And if she doesn’t submit?” I ask.

“Then she will go rogue and probably lose her mind. Humans that are turned and then go rogue struggle with their wolves as they can’t handle it on their own. Their wolf needs the alpha, like a child needs a role model in a parent,” He says.

“Great…I hope she submits,” I sigh.

“You’re both close to each other and that should help, plus having Daniel beside you will help,” He replies.

“So, worst-case scenarios…” I murmur.

“Worst case, her body doesn’t take to the bite and she dies…” He says as I gulp, watching her as she laughs, still training with the others.

“Anything I can do to make sure that doesn’t happen?”

“Make sure she is in the right frame of mind, to accept her wolf. Be there as her alpha and her friend, focus your power on her. Otherwise it’s up to her body and the goddess,” He sighs.

“So, when she submits and becomes part of the pack, is that it?” I ask.

“For the most part, she may be clingy to you at first as her wolf gets used to it all, Daniel may get a little jealous but I will talk to him first, she will need guidance and as her friend, sister and alpha you will need to help her get acquainted with her new world,” He says.

“That it?”

“Pretty much,” he shrugs.

“Woo! Go, Carla!” Liv screams with joy as she joins in with the others as I chuckle watching them all as Carla gives her fight her all.

“I’m going to go patrol the border,” I smile at Lucien.

“Not alone your not,” He frowns.

“I’ll go with you,” Oliver smiles at me as I nod and shift, ignoring Lucien’s snigger behind us as we take off towards the treeline.

“The pack is improving, don’t you think?” I ask as we walk around the border, looking out for anything suspicious.

“They are doing really well alpha,” He replies as I feel him close to me, his fur rubbing against my own.

“You don’t need to call me alpha Oliver, we’re friends and you’re my beta, enough with the formalities,” I roll my eyes.

“Sorry, I just…never mind,” he sighs as I stop and turn to him.

“What is it?” I asked cocking my head. He shifts to his human form as I do the same, he begins to pace.

“For god sake Oliver, out with it!” I growl.

“I like you! Too much. It’s why I call you alpha, to remind myself you are my alpha, you aren’t my mate, you aren’t going to reciprocate my feelings,” he shouts quickly.

“Oliver…I…Do you smell that?” I turn quickly smelling blood as we shift quickly heading in the direction of the blood.

“Wait! It’s beyond the border!” Oliver shouts as I get to the edge of the magical border as I peer through the trees, I can see a body on the ground.

“There’s a body…I can’t just leave them!” I pace, not knowing what to do.

“I’ll get the witch, do not go through the border Serena!” He growls as he takes off quickly to the house.

I whine at the edge of the border as I see the body move, the person was alive.

“Hey! Are you ok out there?!” I shout as I shift.

“Help me…” I hear them whine.

“We’re getting help, just hold on. What’s your name?!” I shout.

“Bri…Brianna” they cry, it’s a child-like voice, but I couldn’t tell from here how old they might be.

“Where are you from Brianna? Are you hurt bad?”

“They took me, I escaped, my father is the blood moon pack alpha…It hurts, help me!” She cries.

Bloodmoon pack…They were a huge pack that was hundreds of miles from our own, one of my dad’s friends, Alpha Quinn.

“Oliver?! How we doing on the witch?!” I growl through the link.

“I’m coming!” He shouts.

“Help me!” Brianna screams as I see her try to move before I glance back, Oliver was nowhere near.

“Fuck…” I growl as I shift running through the border as I keep an eye on my surroundings, grabbing onto Brianna in my human form as she screams in pain.

“It hurts!” She cries.

“I know, I need to get you into our territory, I’m sorry, this is really going to hurt,” I murmur as I pick her up properly as I begin to run back to the border.

A whistle sounds out, like a person calling out for a dog.

“Serena! Give us back the pup! We just want to play a game with her!” I hear Callum call out from the trees as I spin around in shock.

“Serena!” Oliver growls from the border as he paces, unsure of what to do.

I run as fast as I can to the border but I’m pushed to the ground as Callum flits beside me as Brianna falls from my arms and into our territory.

“You took our toy…” Callum hisses as he stands in front of me.

“I’ll kill you,” I growl shifting as I dart towards him as he laughs, dodging me quickly.

“You can’t kill what is already dead, didn’t daddy ever teach you that. Now, if you won’t give me the girl I’ll just take you,” He smirks as he comes at me quickly, fangs bared as I leap towards him, my own canines bared as we fight amongst the trees, some falling as he slams me into one, knocking me to the ground as I whimper.

“Serena!” Oliver growls before he barrels into Callum, tearing at his arm, Callum thrashes his arm about, smacking Oliver in the head as he goes flying and I pounce onto Callum while he’s distracted going for Oliver as I bite at his neck, he tries to throw me as his nails dig into my skin. I thrash my head tearing at his neck as he flits about trying to throw me. But, Oliver has recovered and leaps onto him too as he and I tear at his neck before we rip him to shreds, blood spurting everywhere.

“What the fuck is wrong with you?!” Oliver growls.

“I will not leave a girl to die!” I growl back as I grab Cullum’s head in my mouth, taking it as a trophy to the pack as we enter the border once more.

“I must check your minds alpha,” Silas says as I nod, his hands going to our blood covered fur.

“How is she?” I nod towards Brianna as she’s cowering, shaking from fear.

“She will heal. Your minds are clean, you’re lucky alpha, next time wait,” Silas sighs as he begins to walk off.

“Prick,” I growl.

“I will shift and place Brianna on your back,” Oliver says as I nod.

“No, please, it hurts,” She cries.

“We need to get you back to our packhouse, we have healers, please, the alpha will be able to help too if you lay on her back,” Oliver says calmly as she cries, nodding as he moves her, while she whimpers.

I try to push my alpha power on her as we walk back slowly so she doesn’t fall off my back. It seemed to help a little as her whimpers died down.

“How old do you think she is?” I ask.

“Twelve, maybe thirteen,” Oliver says.

As we get closer to the pack I howl out which gets their attention as wolves begin to rush to my side.

“What the hell happened?” Lucien rushes to my side as he looks to the head in my mouth, the girl on my back and the blood covering me.

“The girl was hurt outside the border and the alpha decided to go outside without anyone while I got the witch,” Oliver says angrily.

“For god sake Serena! You could have been killed!” Lucien shouts.

“My god, is that Brianna of the Bloodmoon pack?!” Wren runs up to us with Olivia on her back as Olivia jumps off her and she shifts.

“Yes,” I nod as she is taken off of my back and I can shift once I drop Callum’s head to the ground.

“We need to get her inside!” Wren shouts as they take Brianna away quickly.

“What were you thinking?” Lucien growls.

“I was thinking that a little girl was hurt out there!” I growl.

“And what if whoever THAT is had of killed you?!” He snaps.

“THAT is Callum and clearly he is dead!”

“Thanks to me coming to your aid,” Oliver grumbles as I turn to him in anger.

“I had it!” I snarl.

“Callum…As in one of the vampires who abused you?”

“The very one,” I answer, my eyes still glaring into Oliver’s.

“You could have risked the whole pack,” Oliver snarls.

“What would you have me do? Let the kid die? Let her be taken by Callum and used as a toy?!”

“I told you to wait!” Oliver stands in front of me, nose to nose.

“I am YOUR alpha, not the other way around, do not forget your place beta Oliver,” I growl.

“Inside, NOW!” Lucien snarls as I push past Oliver, grab the head and head towards the house.

“What happened? Are you ok?!” Mum looks in shock as she notices me covered in blood.

I toss the head at her feet.

“Who is that?” The twins ask.

“Callum, one more asshole down,” I say.

“Serena Baldo, I will not tell you again, get inside NOW!” Lucien snarls behind me.

“You are not my father Lucien, don’t act like it!” I push him hard away from me angrily.

“You risked the pack, you risked your own life…” He snaps.

“For a child! I was not leaving her out there in pain and alone for anyone to take! She was badly hurt, she was crying out to me, I couldn’t just stand there!”

“I would have done the same thing Lucien,” Mum sighs,

“Are you serious Cassandra?!” Lucien shouts.

“No child should have to suffer, it’s a mother’s instinct,” Mum says, looking at me as a tear slides down my face.

“She’s not a mother!” Lucien points at me.

“No need to remind me of what I gave up Lucien” I growl as his eyes widen and I walk off towards the house.

“Fuck! Cupcake! I’m sorry!” he calls out but I ignore him, storming into the house.

“Calm down little one, you’re safe!” I hear Olivia cry out.

“I want my dad! I don’t know you! I want the lady who brought me here!” Brianna screams as I rush into the bedroom which they used as a medical room.

“Woah, calm down sweetheart, you’re safe,” I barrel into the room, soothing her as she curls into my side, shaking like a leaf.

“I want my daddy,” she whimpers.

“I will have him called, but you need to let these nice ladies help you. This is Olivia and this is Wren. Olivia is my best friends mummy and she’s super nice. They are just trying to help you feel better, can you let them help you? Please sweetheart,” I wipe her tears from her faces as she whimpers but nods.

“Thank you alpha” Wren nods as they gently begin to help Brianna as I sit beside her, her hand not leaving my own.

“Mum, can you contact her father?” I ask my mum through our link.

“Of course I will baby girl,” She says.

“My mum is contacting your daddy now, ok?” I smile at her as she nods.

“Thank you,” She sniffles.

“This medicine is going to make you sleepy for a little while as your wolf needs to rest Brianna, ok?” Wren says holding up a thick paste.

“Will you stay with me?” Brianna asks me.

“Of course, I’m not going anywhere,” I smile.

“Ok,” She nods at Wren who smiles at me and begins applying the paste. Soon enough Brianna is fast asleep on the bed.

“Alpha, you should go wash, she’ll be asleep for hours,” Wren says.

“I won’t leave her alone,”

“I’ll stay with her until you return,” Olivia says as she looks over Brianna’s soft features with a look of motherly love.

“I’ll be back, if she wakes then call for me,” I tell Wren who nods as I quickly leave the room, heading upstairs.

I wash quickly as I hear that everyone is back to training, voices muttering about what had happened.

“Is my daughter safe Cassandra?!” A deep male voice growls in the office as I walk by.

I enter the room quietly as I see my mother and Lucien on the computer with a web camera set up as they seem to be on a video call.

“Mum?” I murmur.

“Alpha Quinn, your daughter is safe, she is asleep, our healers are taking care of her right now,” Mum answers him as I come to her side of the desk I see a huge man on the screen, he was a handsome man, older than my father, but he had hard features, he screamed power and muscles, his eyes dark and fierce.

“Who is that?” he growls.

“This is my daughter Alpha Quinn, this is Serena, she’s the one who save your daughter from the vampire,” Mum says with pride.

“Well then, I owe you a debt Serena. I have heard a lot about you from your father. So, I would like to thank you for saving my daughter and I vow to help you in your endeavour to eradicate the monsters that are attacking you. We stand with The Amethyst Pack as your ally,” He says with a nod.

“Thank you, Alpha Quinn, I appreciate it greatly, I promise to look after Brianna, she seems to have taken a liking for me, doesn’t want to leave my side, she’s asleep right now and so I must get back before she wakes up,” I smile.

“I will send my beta and some of my warriors to your territory, I will talk with your mother and Lucien on the details. Thank you for taking care of my little girl, she’s been missing for months,” He sighs.

“I look forward to their arrival. Take care Alpha, until we talk again,” I wave before leaving the office and heading back to Brianna.

“You’re an idiot, but I get it,” Carla pops up suddenly, frightening me.

“Jeez! You scared me! Sneaky bitch… I couldn’t let her die out there,” I sigh as we stand in the corridor. I look into the room and see her still snuggled up on the bed.

“The pack have put his head on a spike, they cheered,” Carla smirks.

“Seriously…What are we in, medieval times?” I laugh.

“I know right?” She laughs.

I walk into the room as Olivia is sat beside Brianna, reading a book softly beside her.

“Serena, oh hello sweetheart. She hasn’t moved. She shouldn’t wake for at least another hour,” Olivia raises from her chair, closing her book and leaving it on the chair.

“Thank you, Olivia,” I smile as I pick up the book she had been reading.

“What is it about this girl that has you so enthralled with her?” Carla asks.

“She reminds me of myself, what they probably did to her, how old she is. I just felt this instant need to protect her. Every time I look in her eyes it was like this pull to keep her safe,” I moved the hair out her eyes.

“You’re going to make an amazing mother one day Serena,” Carla smiles softly.

“Hopefully one day,” I smile.

“So, do we need to prepare anything for tomorrow?” She asks sitting beside me.

“Just let your mind go with the flow, accept the wolf, your body will do the rest. Try and focus on our bond together, we will be heavily linked and you will rely on me for a little while. You need to submit to me when you turn,” I say as she nods.

“Great, you make it sound easy, but why do I feel it won’t be,” She sighs.

“I’ll be right by your side, so will Daniel and the pack,” I hold her hand tightly.

“I trust you,” She smiles and puts her head on my shoulder as we sit in the room together as I begin to read the book out loud to us all as we waited for Brianna to wake.
