Chapter Becomes 61
Chapter 0061
Bill’s POV
Doctor Henderson returns to Serena’s room to conduct some tests that
can be performed while she’s unconscious. He starts with a neurological assessment, gently checking her reflexes with a small hammer and observing her responses. Even in her sleep, the body’s involuntary reactions can offer valuable insights.
Next, he wraps a cuff around her arm to check her blood pressure, using his stethoscope to listen. Then, he takes a blood sample with a needle to check for any health issues that might have caused her to
faint.
Doctor Henderson turns to me and gently suggests, “I need to perform an EEG test on Serena to monitor her brain activity. It’s non–invasive, but I’ll need the room to be as quiet and undisturbed as possible. Could you please step outside for a little while?”
“Of course, I’ll step outside,” I say, quietly exiting the room to let him. work.
As I step out of the room, Calvin stands up and approaches me. “How is Serena? Is she going to be okay?” he asks, eager for any piece of news.
I give Calvin a sharp look. I’m not exactly thrilled about him being here in the hospital, but arguing or causing a scene isn’t the right move. We’ll have to settle our differences elsewhere, away from where Serena is recovering. She wouldn’t appreciate us fighting.
I shake my head slightly, “Nothing yet. Dr. Henderson is still running. some tests.”
Calvin and I sit quietly, waiting for any news from Dr. Henderson. The hallway feels tense and quiet, different from the usual hospital noise.

Finally, Dr. Henderson comes out and walks over to where me and Calvin are sitting. “Based on the tests we’ve conducted, everything appears to be normal. It seems Serena just passed out from over- fatigue. She should be fine,” he explains.
“Oh, thank goodness,” Calvin breathes out in relief. Then, hesitating a bit, he adds, “How about… you know?”
“The baby is fine as well if that’s what you’re worried about,” Dr. Henderson adds.
Hearing Dr. Henderson say Serena is pregnant shocks me. It’s the first time I’ve heard about it, and I just freeze, not sure how to react. My heart races, and I feel a bunch of emotions all at once surprise, worry, and even a bit of happiness. But it’s all so overwhelming.

Now it makes sense why Serena protected her belly when Doris attacked her.
“What do you mean Serena is pregnant, Doc?” I manage to ask.
Dr. Henderson seems a bit taken aback by my question, then says, “Oh… seems like Serena didn’t tell you. She’s three months pregnant. The fainting probably happened because she’s been too busy and stressed. She really needs to take it easy to keep the baby healthy.”
Calvin doesn’t seem shocked by the news. “Thanks, Dr. Henderson. I’ll make sure to tell Serena she needs to rest for a couple of days.”
“Very well, that’s for the best,” Dr. Henderson replies, nodding in agreement. “I should go now,” he adds.
Suddenly it hits me why did Serena tell Calvin she’s pregnant but not me? Then a worse thought comes to mind – what if Calvin is the baby’s father, not me?
I can’t hold back my anger anymore. Without thinking, I grab Calvin by

the collar and shove him hard against the wall. I swear I could kill him. now. “You better explain yourself!” I demand.
“This is exactly why Serena didn’t want to tell you she’s pregnant. You’re a loose cannon, Bill,” Calvin shoots back. “Serena didn’t tell me she’s pregnant. I only found out accidentally.”
“Bullshit!” I yell, not buying his explanation for a second. “The family dinner was three months ago. I saw you at my house with her. Did you sleep with her?”
Calvin grips my hand tightly, and with a burst of strength, he begins to loosen my hold on his collar. “Why do you care if I sleep with her? You’re not even his husband anymore,” he says firmly, looking straight
into my eyes.
My hands ball into fists. I really feel like punching Calvin right now. But he’s not saying the baby is his. He’s just trying to make me doubt Serena’s faithfulness. “That baby is mine!” I proclaim. “Stay away from Serena and our baby. You should know your place, Calvin.”
I stand firm after speaking to Calvin, feeling more certain than ever. Serena didn’t cheat on me, and I’m completely sure the baby is mine. The timing of her pregnancy matches when we were still married. Calvin shouldn’t be part of this equation. It should just be Serena, our
child, and me.
Despite my annoyance with Calvin, finding out I’m going to be a dad fills me with so much happiness. I start thinking about all the things I want to do with my kid, and how I want to be the best dad ever. Even though things with Serena are complicated, knowing we’re going to have this baby together makes me want to fix everything and start planning for our family’s future.
I want to do everything I can for Serena and our child. I want to support them, to protect them, and to be there for every moment, big and small. I’m willing to become a better person, and I hope Serena notices and
