Chapter 7
The next day, Alicia got off work an hour early. Somehow she ended up stopping in front of the flagship store of Seven.
She pushed the door open and walked in.
After walking around the store for some time, she didn't dare to choose something too chic. Instead, she walked over to the most affordable clothes in the shop and chose a simple black and white dress that wasn't too outdated. The price tag said 3000 dollars, which she could barely afford.
"Miss, I-"
Before she could finish her words, at that very moment, the door of the dressing room opened and she heard: "Alicia? What a coincidence!"
The moment Alicia saw Lindsay, her heart sank a bit and an unpleasant feeling surged up: "How come I bumped into you everywhere! What bad luck!"
Alicia wanted to buy the dress quickly and not pay much attention to Lindsay. But as soon as Lindsay saw her holding a dress, she immediately started speaking, making sure that everyone could hear her words:
"Ah! Why did you come here to buy clothes? Didn't your family go bankrupt and now you have to rent a house somewhere? Does this shop really fit your current status?"
The very next second, more than a dozen of eyes mockingly peered at Alicia, and the dress she was holding was taken away by a saleswoman.
"Miss, we sell only high-end brands! Don't touch anything if you can't afford it. Will you be able to pay for them after you soil them with your fingers?" Alicia's nail was broken by her action and it was bleeding. Her face turned pale.
"I'll buy it!"
She really wanted to say something in reply but she wasn't the rich young lady from three years ago anymore, so she couldn't afford to be too capricious.
She'd had to endure this kind of treatment countless times over the past three years She thought she didn't care it anymore, but at this moment, she felt like she couldn't let it go. "Oops, look at me. I'm being too straightforward."
The shop assistant covered her mouth apologetically, but Lindsay kept saying.
"Anyways, in your situation, Ally, you shouldn't try to pretend to be rich. It doesn't suit you at all!"
"Go out, turn right at the next corner. 9.99 bucks can buy one!" the shop assistant said with a gloomy face.
Alicia reached for her credit card. She almost took it out to buy the dress a few times now. But then she relaxed her fingers and thought: "Why should I even get angry over such people?" She turned, planning to leave, but suddenly bumped into a warm chest. "Sorry...."
"Fred...Frederick?"
Seeing that her expression didn't look that good, and grievance could be heard in her trembling voice, suddenly, Frederick changed his expressions.
The shop assistant trotted towards him and bowed deeply in respect. "Mr. Clements, welcome!"
Before looking at anyone Frederick asked: "Which one did you like?"
The moment he spoke, everyone at the shop was shocked, their eyes rolling. It felt like the temperature in the room had dropped a few degrees.
Stunned, she couldn't utter a word. After making sure that he was looking at her, Alicia shook her head.
"Well, that's right. How could such trash be good enough for you? Bring out the best stuff you have in this shop!"
Frederick then headed to the VIP area, dragging Alice along, and sat on a sofa.
Everyone kept quiet out of fear. No one dared to say anything. Soon, the shop assistant brought a collection of clothes. Frederick looked through the racks and pulled out a white dress and passed it to Alicia. "Try it on!"
He turned to the shop assistant who had just given Alicia a hard time. "You! Make me a cup of coffee!" he ordered.
Alicia was no longer in the mood for trying things on but she was afraid to destroy his good intentions, so she headed to the fitting room.
