Chapter 13
Alicia had already lifted the quilt when Frederick returned.
"Just sleep here in case Grandma comes and checks on us again! Pick one!" As Frederick spoke, he pushed the stack of pajamas to her.
It was easy to tell that he was sincerely obedient to his grandmother.
Alicia noticed that the brand tags were still attached and the style was relatively conservative. She then chose an elegant violet nightgown and changed into it.
Although they have registered their marriage and slept together, Alicia had little recollection of it. Therefore, it was like the first time for her to be in the same room as a man. Her heart pounded wildly when she suddenly had to sleep in the same bed as him.
She was at a loss when Frederick threw a wet blanket on her.
"Don't cross the line, don't touch my body, don't move abruptly, don't touch or pull the quilt, don't snore, don't disturb me..."
Immediately, the concern she had vanished without a trace. Instead, it was replaced by a surge of anger. How could she forget that he was an oddball? Why did she even bother to think so much? Besides, she was a pregnant woman!
How can a freak from an alien planet like him live a comfortable life? This is maddening!
Who would even want to sleep with him in the same bed? Ugh!
Alicia clenched her fists as she complained internally. However, she nodded and responded, "Okay!"
Would she become a lunatic after living with someone like him?
Well, it was totally possible! Why did she bring this upon herself?
As she thought of this, Alicia climbed into bed carefully and kept over an arm's distance away from him. She was pissed and thought that she would probably not fall asleep. However, she was either exhausted or she had developed a habit in the past three years that she dozed off soon after her head landed on the pillow.
On the other hand, Frederick was not used to having another person beside him. The faint scent of a woman lingered in the air and it made him more agitated than ever. Following that, he heard her shallow breathing and his face fell instantly.
D*mn woman!
Frederick shut his eyes tightly but the cells in his body would not calm down.
Would he fall asleep if he counted sheep?
This idea ran across his mind. Although he felt that it was childish, he started counting silently. Finally, he started drifting off when an arm landed on him.
He opened his eyes abruptly to find that her slender body was pressed against him.
Frederick was baffled and he gritted his teeth so hard that they rattled. Following that, he took her hand and flipped it aside. Yet, he wished more than nothing that he could kick her off the bed. "Alicia Blanchard-"
"Hmm, yes?"
Alicia responded absentmindedly and snuggled into his arms. He did not know whether she was dreaming but her intermittent voice contained sobs. In the quiet night, her aggrieved tone made his heart tremble.
"Why... Why are you so horrible to me?" Alicia cried.
Frederick was taken aback. Instantly, his heart melt because he recalled that she was pregnant! He frowned, unaware that he had lightened his grip gradually.
"Jeremy..."
Frederick heard a man's name out of nowhere and the veins on his temples bulged. Was she courting death? How dared she mentioned another man's name in his bed?
He was fuming! He gave her a push and exclaimed, "Alicia Blanchard!"
Alicia seemed to be woken up from her deep slumber. She raised her head to opened her eyes and murmured, 'Tm so sleepy. Just let me sleep, okay? I'll clean up... the bathroom tomorrow, okay?" After that, she lowered her head and buried her body in his arms coquettishly. She hugged him even
tighter than ever.
Frederick was furious. He had never seen a woman like her before! She was just like the glue!
