Chapter 216: Battle Against the Calamity Blood Mosquito 1

A distance away from Evan's location, a chase was currently in progression as a catastrophic inducing mosquito many meters large bolted through the winds as high speeds, pursuing the humans that were escaping before it.

It was only moments from catching up to them as the distance between shrink with every flap of its rapidly vibrating wings. Yet, this scenario soon changed due to a vast forest's appearance, one filled clusters of tall branches from towering trees.

At this moment, Layla and the other had sharp eyes as they finally arrived at the strategic point for combat, they looked at each other with knowing looks as no one said anything as if they had already considered their battle pattern.

"Joe, let's do it!" Rick said as he glanced at Joe nearby, his body then blurred as he turned around and charged towards the Calamity Blood Mosquito.

Joe also gave him a look but didn't dally as he knew that only the two could hold off these beasts, giving the girls enough time to prepare.

"Alright, I just hope you're capable of covering my ass!" Joe said as he clicked his teeth, following behind him at a much slower speed.

Breya, Layla, and Emilia looked at each other before they jumped into the depths of the woods and vanished from all sight.

Rick heard Joe's words, but he didn't have time to express his discontent as he had already arrived before the terrifying monster.

As if it didn't care about the ant-like being in front of it, the Calamity Blood Mosquito prepared to crush him by smashing into his body directly.

Rick smirked as he pointed his spear forward and invoked his skill, "Holy Spear Light!"

A bright holy white light bolted from Rick's spear that not only blinded the Calamity Blood Mosquito's sight but bore a hole into one of its massive eyes.

"Kreee!" The Calamity Blood Mosquito made a painful sound as it momentarily halted due to the pain from one of its eyes; it couldn't even clearly see its surroundings.

Still, despite the current change, it didn't hinder it from firing a random attack in response, instantly gathering a cluster of Blood Mana energy at the tip of its mouth.

Rick's face sunk as he saw the red ball of energy in front of him, carrying a catastrophic amount of power, he knew that if it hit him, he wouldn't be able to come out of it alive.

With a swoosh, his body blurred as he fled the range of the attack, the Calamity Blood Mosquito having charged up fired off its Blood Mana Beam.

Piiiiii! A sharp sound was heard as a giant red-ray roughly a meter or so in size blasted in Rick's previous direction, the ray cut through the sky as it continued towards the nearby forest, dousing everything with its hue as it destroying all things in its path.

Joe wasn't as fast as Rick; when he saw the attack, he gritted his teeth and complained as he raised his shield before him, "That darn bastard! Arc Barrier!"

Instantly an earthen-colored power formed a barrier around Joe's Arc Shield, which expanded to a size of two meters as its base dug a hole into a ground.contemporary romance

The moment this occurred, the ray attack from the Blood Mana Beam had crushed into the shield, pushing Joe back as clusters of stray energies spread out across the surroundings. Some even spilled upwards flowing high into the sky as they made an arc before falling into the forest behind Joe.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

A series of red explosions formed, lighting up the vicinity with a reddish hue as a devastating amount of destruction had formed.

Joe looked behind him in shock, but anger soon took over as he saw that the forest was blazing. He fiercely resisted the ray attack, which only now ended, pushing his body back by a few dozen meters as his shield drew a long line into the ground.

"You darn pest! How dare you threaten my Emmy?" Joe shouted in rage as he didn't know if any of the stray energies had wounded Emilia and the other girls in the forest.

Rick, hearing Joe's words, stared at him from a distant treetop as cursed slightly, "This guy..."

Not wanting Joe to make any mistakes, he glared at him and spoke, "You dummy, Emilia is more than fine, we've all wearing monitoring device and if any of them were critically wounded we would have already known! The mosquito should be recovering by now, so hurry and get yourself together!"

Joe soon came to his senses as he clenched his teeth, not bother to thank Rick, he didn't like him one bit, especially after hearing him call Emilia's first name.

At this time, the Calamity Blood Mosquito had already recovered its sight in one eye, its other was still bleeding from the attack Rick had used to blind it, but this didn't hinder its ability to fight.

As if it hated Rick the most, the Calamity Blood Mosquito shifted its eye towards him as a cold aura rose from its body, scattering a devastating power across the surroundings.

Whoosh! As if it were a ghost, the mosquito vanished from its previous location using its energies to boost its already high speed to an ungodly stage.

'Not good!' Rick thought as even he was having a bit trouble keeping track of it; he only saw a giant blur rapidly closing in from the corner of his eyes.

'I won't go down so easily!' Rick said in his mind; he quickly invoked his [Second Step] talent skill as his speed rose by a section causing him to blur and vanish similarly.

Instantly, a series of collision sounds were heard as both Rick and the Calamity Blood Mosquito began a fierce battle that Joe couldn't see clearly.

"Tsk, how am I to block it if I can't see it? So troublesome..." Joe complained, but he didn't dare to let down his shield, he didn't know when it would attack him instead.

Ping! Suddenly, a sound similar to two metal colliding resounded as Rick's figure appeared from a nearby direction, flying backward as if a powerful force repelled him.

Cough! He spat out a bit of blood as he backflipped and landed on the ground, he slid back and stood nearby Joe as he glared at the mosquito that had used its proboscis to parry his spear.

"Damn, it's a notch slower than me, but its attack is a few times greater. Shit! My attack power, it's too darn weak. I need to find a way to fix this..." Rick spoke under his breath as he glared at the mosquito, which, oddly enough, had previously tried to stab at Joe.

Joe's face paled as he didn't think it would have attacked him from such angle, if Rick didn't do anything, he would have certainly fallen into trouble. He stared at him before facing the mosquito with a tighter guard, not daring to remove his sights from it, he knew this wasn't the time to usher words such as thanks.

The scene here turned still as the two parties sized each other up; it was clearly noticeable from this fact that despite its looks, the Calamity Blood Mosquito was an intelligent creature.

Suddenly, its eyes shimmered in a cold ray as if it decided its next attack pattern. Its Blood Mana began to rise as it sent ripples across the area, pushing back Joe and Rick due to its sheer pressure as even the massive branches of the nearby forest shook wildly tremendously.

Both Rick and Joe looked at it with a dark look on their face, as they knew if it continued like this, they wouldn't be able to beat it, but right at this moment, their watches began to beep causing their face to brighten.

Not even wasting a moment, the two jumped backward into the dense forests as they rapidly escaped to another location.

The Calamity Blood Mosquito stared at this coldly; it didn't even hold back its rising powers, which continued until a red light developed the very area.

Swoosh! Its body moved like a ray of red energies as it blasted through the forest, crushing all branches into its path, like a knife through butter as it pushed onwards to the stage of the next phase of their epic clash.
