Chapter Return
Aria was shaken awake by Marcus who stood grinning over her. She growled at him and threw a pillow at his face before standing and stretching, still glaring at her mate. He sauntered closer to her, his hand brushing the hair away at her neck as he leaned closer to take a look. Aria laughed lightly as his hand brushed her fresh mark and he leaned in and kissed her cheek.
"Does it hurt, A?" Aria broke out into a grin at Marcus's nickname for her, remembering last night. He had called her baby and she had punched him in the shoulder and told him not to call her that or she was going to punch him harder next time. After that he had taken to calling her A instead. She shook her head as little tingles broke out over her skin where Marcus had skimmed his fingers. She tilted her head and kissed his lips quickly before stepping past him towards the shower. He gave a little growl before wrapping his arms around her waist before she could go any further, pulling her flush to him as he nestled his nose into her neck. She let out a little gasp before wiggling out of his grasp,
"Marcus, as much as I want to, we have to get back so I can practiceeee." She let her voice stretch out a little in a playful whine as she stepped away from Marcus. He let her go this time as she waltzed into the shower for a quick rinse.
When she came out from the shower Marcus was sitting on the bed with a tray full of food. He smiled when he saw her and handed her some food off the tray before standing.
"We should get going, I would hate for you to have to electrify Cain again." Aria laughed as they walked out of the room, Marcus's hand wrapped in hers.
"Please, I did NOT electrify him, I just scared him so that he knows some respect for the alphas!" Marcus grinned at her words and lifted her into the air with a quick move and spun her with a laugh before setting her back on the ground. Aria let out a giggle, something she found herself doing more often around Marcus. Their moment was short lived as Alpha Grey came striding over to them with bright smiles and Aria disentangled herself from his arms, straightening her shirt to look more professional.
"Good morning Alpha's, I wanted to wish you well on your trip back home and thank you for coming." Aria and Marcus gave the Alpha brief smiles before they clambered into the truck.
The ride home seemed slower than the ride there, the rising sun telling Aria that she was going to get an earful from Cain when they got back. They pulled up to the pack house just as the sun fully came over the mountains that lined the valley. Cain came storming before the car came to a complete stop, a scowl etched onto her features. Aria let out a deep sigh before stepping out of the car.
"I know your an alpha Aria and that Marcus is your mate but you have things you have to do! The moon goddess chose me and you can't just decide all of a sudden that you don't want to train anymore, your an hour late! AN HOUR!" Marcus stood up behind her and growled at Cain as he put a protective arm around her. Aria took a deep breath, calming her anger before she spoke.
"Cain, don't think that I don't know how serious this is. I have a duty not only to my pack but all other packs around us, and to the moon goddess so don't think that I don't know my duty! I am one hour late and I have been training nonstop its one freakin hour so calm down! You think that I'm not under pressure as it is!"
Cain was speechless for a moment before he bowed his head and stepped back. "I..am sorry alpha Aria I may have overstepped." Before he could say another word Eve came running out of the house with Blake trailing after her.
"Alpha! There is something of utter importance that requires your attention immediately!" Aria frowned before shouldering past Cain and approaching Eve. Eve raised her nose to the air and grinned at Aria's as she saw Marcus's neck before continuing. "Alpha Smith contacted me over the phone a few hours ago and told me that some of his spies out in the human world caught sight of hundreds of wolves traveling together in a pack through the woods headed here. They are two days out he said, if they keep the pace that they are moving at." Aria cursed out loud,
"Hundreds! If their rogues we must anticipate their arrival sooner than two days. Whoever is leading them will be pushing them hard, they will want to try and take us by surprise, that is one thing we have over them. We must contact all the alphas that we have contacted and ask them to bring their packs, we need to make a battle plan." Eve winced slightly before raising her hand,
"Yeah, um they may already be on their way. Alpha Smith said that they managed to capture one of the rogues and that they said they are headed here to kill you." Marcus let out a loud growl as Eve said this, squeezing his arms tightly around Aria once more. Aria leaned back against him, savoring what could be one of their last moments together.
"And why wouldn't you tell me about this sudden occurrence Eve! If the alphas are coming we must make room for their packs and move as many of our pack members into the pack house as we can." Eve laughed awkwardly and lowering her gaze to the ground in a sign of submission, to appease Aria before she spoke.
"Welllll, I figured that you and Marcus were busy, and that you would be angry if I disturbed you then than if I told you know....." She trailed off at Aria's glare, and Blake wrapped an arm around her waist in a sign of comfort.
"Well, we don't have time to argue about it now, we have to start preparing." With that, Aria turned and hurried off to the pack house with the others rushing after her.
