Chapter 102
Chloe's POV:
Instead of teleporting like I normally would, I walked right in, my brothers beside me but they were invisible as not to create a scene.
Was it only me, or did I notice that no one was glaring at me with the hate in their eyes like I had expected? Rather, they looked relieved to see me and I did not know what to get out of that.
My breath caught in my throat, when the huge the gates of Royal house came into view. It had always been a refreshing sight when I got home but with what happened three days ago, it felt pretty awkward and I had to admit that somewhere in there, I was scared.
Just if anyone is still thinking about it, you guessed right! I stayed back at Dracula's cave for three days, just taking some fresh air and spending some time with my brothers. They both hated the fact that I had loosened up around Dracula, but I assured that I still was not the best of friends with our vile grandfather. I had no where to run to that Marcus wouldn't find me, and I needed a little break from all of the drama. This cave was the only place I could seek shelter and know that it was impenetrable.
I had been given my mother's former room and might I add that I had seen something interesting but before I could take a peek, Dracula had walked in and interrupted me. For my own comfort, he left the whole coven asleep and if not for how angry and tensed my brothers were the whole time, I would have said it felt like a little family vacation. Might I add that they fed me lots and lots of blood, just like I craved!
I sighed, when we passed through the gates. The guards at the entrance bowed, saying their individual greetings. I walked past them not bothering to respond as my mind had gone ahead of me. I was worried of what Marcus still thought of me, and I was scared that he would not believe me if I told him, but only after I had shown him the evidence.
I finally got to where I had seen the body and the hair on my arms rose at the memory. My nose flared in anger when I remembered the beast who had done such a wicked thing, and I promised myself that I would be the one to personally kill him!
We walked in through the front door, going past the kitchen where the cook and servants were busy doing whatever it was they were doing, and into the living room.
Marcus was sitting on a couch, talking animatedly to Titus, Mark and Lily, who sat the the sofa opposite to him. I saw how he stiffened and I knew he had sensed my presence. Very slowly, his wide eyes turned to me and he was on his feet, running towards me before I could even blink!
Only, he never made it to me. He was flung back by a powerful force and he flew backwards, his head colliding with the wall. He groaned and I did not realize that I had screamed in horror, untill Jason snapped at me to stop. "What have you both done," I yelled into thin air. I knew I looked crazy before the other people in the room, but Marcus must have understood what was going on. "You did not have to push him, you could have just warned! Marcus scoffed, helping himself off the ground. "Where have you been, Chloe?" He asked, the worry on his face was so deep that it disturbed me terribly. He took a couple of steps towards me. "For three whole days, seriously?" "I did not do it," was all I managed to say.
"I know," he said softly, his gaze never leaving mine.
"I know who did it!"
He nodded, lowering his eyes to the floor as a wave of shame and regret passed over his features. "I I know that too and I would forever be sorry for the way I accused you."
Lily scoffed and my eyes flickered over to the three who were sitting on the couch and watching us talk. "You cannot forgive him so easily," Lily spat. "He even locked me up, just because Cara's grandmother told him that I was with you yesterday!"
I looked at Lily, to see that she was not joking and back at Marcus who was now glaring at her. "You did what?!" I asked in a horror filled voice. "So, that means you also brought people to arrest me but unfortunately, I was not home!" "That was not the case," Mark spoke he was going to pin all the blames on her!"
I met Lily's eyes, and she looked away. I knew that Marcus had done the wrong thing, but that did not mean Mark could also much for himself. He had defended Lily until the very end, like her betraying me was nothing but her mere professing her love for him! I turned to Marcus and without heeding Angelo's warning or Jason's growl, I stepped forward and slapped Marcus so hard in the face that his skin tore off and blood seeped of his flesh. "How dare you do that?! Who the hell do you think you are?!"
He stare at me with blank eyes and when he was going to put his arms around me, my angry brothers decided to show themselves, shocking the other trio in the room.
"Get the hell away from her," Jason hissed, while Angelo readied himself to fight if Marcus tried to do otherwise.
Marcus knew better, so he stepped back with his hands raised in mock surrender. "Fine, I won't be touching your sister but can you both at least give us a chance to talk... alone," he added.
My brothers remained standing where they stood.
"You can say whatever it is that you want to say here, I do not wish to be in private with you!"
I sighed in frustration, then his shoulders sagged. "Fine, if that is what you want!" He looked at everyone in the room, before his eyes returned back to me. He dug into his pocket and pulled out the very letter I had seen being stuffed in her pocket, and held it up with two fingers. "I found this in her pocket."
"I know," I answered.
"Edwin put it there,"
I only nodded, but I knew it was not Edwin who put it there. It was someone else!
"He threatened that you are the next to die..." his eyes started to dim into a black colour, which showed that he was losing his mind. "How dare him?!"
I scoffed, rolling my eyes to the side. "I do not fear him, he's got nothing on me." I paused, meeting his eyes. "It is the one backing him that I am afraid of!"
His face scrunched up in confusion. "Who? Dracula?" He asked like he also was unsure of his question. Then he figured it out on his own without me replying to his question. "No, it can't be Dracula. He needs you more than anything in the world!"
I sighed dramatically. "Good for you, you figured that out!" I turned around and started walking out the door, my brothers following right behind me. Marcus asked where I was going and the only thing I said was. "Far away..."
I walked all the way through town, so much to Angelo's and Jason's displeasure. We could have just take a few seconds s to teleport over to where I was headed, but I decided to play safe. I was not about to act ignorant like I was not aware of the watching eyes all over me. I knew they already knew I was a vampire, but I could not risk them knowing that I had let vampires into the land.
I finally came to a stop and they halted, each grumbling under his breath. "That is enough you two, we are here already! Make sure you both remain as quiet as the word, you do not want to scare her!"
I raised my hand to knock and this time when the door cracked open, I met the sad and blotchy eyes of a pained old woman and she sighed when she saw me.
"You came back?" She asked, stepping out of the house. She gave me a tired smile, then dropped down on the bench where we had sat the other time. "Why did you come back here?"
"I want to show you something," I replied, taking her hand in mine. I asked her to close her eyes but she hesitated, staring at me distrustfully. After trying to convince her that I meant her no harm, she reluctantly closed her eyes and I immediately invaded her mind, letting her thoughts merge with mine as I showed her what she deserved to see.
"Oh my baby," she broke down crying, after I was done with showing her everything that had actually happened. She let me hold her as she cried, her frail body shaking with every sob that left her. "I warned her, I told her to stay away but she never listened! Now look at her end, death!"

"I would like to to go in alone, if you both do not mind," I said, turning to face them.
"We mind!"
The reply was almost immediately and I sighed, knowing that they was no reasoning with these two. We had left Cara's grandmother's house at about fifty seconds ago and now, we were standing in front of Alpha Edwin's house. We had hid our scents, so it had been easy to get in without any of the guards noticing. We got invisible and I gave them orders on what to do and what not to do, then I went off to look Edwin...
It was a bit had to find him, as his scent was the strongest and it lingered all over the house. I found his room sooner than I expected and invited myself in, going to lay on his bed. The shower was running and I knew that he was in there for sure, because his scent radiated from that direction the most. He had to be pretty neat, he did not smell too much of a dog like most wolves did.
I hummed to myself, making a mental countdown of when he would walk in here and see me, when I heard the shower stop. I had not counted up to give, when the bathroom door opened and it took a few seconds before he noticed me. "What the hell," I yelled.
I sat up, slowly turning to him and giving him a smirk. My eyes wandered from his bare chest and down to his... towel. "Hello there," I said cheerfully and waved. "I hear that you have been looking for me, so I came to see you!" "Who told you that?" He asked with a hint of doubt in his voice. He was still quote shaken up and I think his brain needed a few more seconds to alert him that it was me, right in front of him.
"Cara told me that," I replied coolly and that must have been a wake up call.
His handsome face squeezed into something ugly and he eyed me cautiously, as he moved towards his vanity table. He picked up a little flute which recognized immediately, because it looked quite similar to the one Marcus had given me sometime ago. "She is here," he growled, the blew the flute.
Just as I expected, the space around us started to spin, as the wind carried away his message to whomever he had sent it to. It carried on for over a minute and when it finally settled, we had another presence in the room. The man in the trees...
