Chapter 65
Fenrir POV.
I had my reasons for asking that question. I wanted to know how Lorena was going to answer that question.
Maybe it was going to be based on her emotions or head. I wanted to understand how she was feeling at that moment and how she would react if a situation arises when she had to choose between the werewolves and the humans.
“I shall give you all five minutes to come up with great answers. This answer shall give you more points than the rest of the questions," I told them and saw a flash of surprise on Lorena. She looked like she never expected that I would ask such questions.
“I am sorry it has come to this, {l muttered under my breath and walked back to my seat. Once I was seated, I raised my head and looked toward her. I realized that she was also staring back at me. there was this frown on her face and it made me shudder. If a look could kill then I would be long dead with the way Lorena does stare at me. “don't hate me,” I whispered to myself. After we both stared at each other for a moment, she picked up her pen and started writing again.
Phew, thanks to the goddess that she had something to write and not just stare at me.
“you have gone crazy,” Draca chuckled and then started singing a song. The song wasn't terrible to hear but since it was Dracas voice, it sounded like incoherent words and annoyingly loud. I groaned in pain and held my head as I tried so hard tc block the noise from my head but instead, it continued.
“The heart is where the love is and you can't separate love from where it is supposed to be” he sang so loud that it felt as if his voice was blaring from a speaker. I growled at him and held my head. I had no idea that I was being watched until I saw lord Jared giving me a questionable look. “This is all your fault,” I shouted at Draca.
“if it's about the big eyes man over there then you can give me the order to help you stab him in the face”
I heaved a sigh and rubbed my forehead. As much as I loved Draca’s idea, I didn't want to spill blood just yet, and instead, I threw the question at him. “is there a reason why you are staring at me?” I asked him.
He shook his head and averted his eyes. “Annoying,” I said and it was loud enough for him to hear but he didn't say anything and decided to look at the ground instead.
“your highness,” Paul appeared from the left corner of the room. “five minutes is already up. Should I order them to stop; he asked.
I nodded in response and looked behind his shoulder towards Lorena who had stopped writing and had his eyes fixed on mine. “that is the end of this round” Paul announced and pointed to Danielle. “please do us the honor of telling us about what is written in your paper,” Paul requested.
Danielle chuckled and nodded in response as she stood up from her chair. She walked to the center of the hall with the paper in her hand and started reading. “Thank you for giving me the perfect opportunity to express myself she smiled and lowered her head. When she raised it, she removed a few strands from her face. “according to the first question, if I am aske to take my life for my country, I wouldn't do that” she answered with a straight face.
“And what would be your reasons for that concubine,” Alistair fired back at her. “Why would you choose not to save your country?" he asked.
“Because my life is valuable and instead of dying to save my country, could fight to save it instead,” she answered with confidence.
She was right for saying that because she valued life instead of her country. If she was going to be my noble consort, her priority would always be her life would she valued so much. Danielle would rather run away than sacrifice her life to save th country. “is that your final answer?" I asked her and she nodded in response.
“Great. Onto the next question,” I said.
“Thank you, your highness” she smiled and cleared her throat. “to the second question asked, I would never choose the humans over the werewolves and if a war were to occur between them then I shall side with the werewolves,” she smiled brightly as she finished answering the question.
“what a hungry woman!” Draca commented.
“what do you mean by that?” I asked him.
“AllI am saying is that she is the type of person who is hungry for power,” he answered and I couldn't agree more.
Her answers show that she was not being sincere when she said that.
How could she pick the werewolves over her people? Even if it meant that she was being loyal, it would only mean she was doing it for recognition among the werewolves.
Danielle was the type of person who would give up on her friend or lover just for power.
She was a bad candidate for
the position of the noble consort.
“I shall proceed to the last question now your highness,” she announced and adjusted her dress so her cleavage could show a little bit more. I found her actions annoying and provocative. I thought that it would have an effect on me but instead, it made my blood boil and I frowned at her foolishness. “concerning what the king had said, I must say that it is an easy thing to solve. I believe the war should never end!” she announced and I heard gasps from the lords and the other girls. Lorena’s gasp was the loudest and she stood up from her chair and slammed her hand on the table.
“how could you even have thought of that!” she yelled and pointed a finger at Danielle. “people like you are the reason why the world turned out to be like this!”
“This me answering the question, not you!” Danielle retorted and pointed a finger of warning at Lorena.
“Here we go!” Draca laughed as if he was enjoying himself.
