Chapter 11
The world was painstakingly silent as Myra opened her eyes. She looked around confused on where she was. In her room.
The room was empty as she forced her body up. Myra couldn’t hear a single breath in the house as if everyone had left. She looked at the time to see it was six in the morning.
The pain of yesterday came flooding back into her heart. It was all her fault. She was lucky to have experienced this happiness but it was at the cost of Aunt Mary’s death.
Your body is weak today. Don’t get out of bed. Luna told her softly.
Myra leaned back down on the bed, her head placed gently against the pillows as she pulled the duvet over her body. She turned her body to the side to see the sun trying to peek in through the black out curtains. The room was still dark just as her mind was.
She knew she had made a big mistake in coming here. They would find her and kill her for the disrespect she had shown Alpha Jackson. Did she still want death? Was it the key to her freedom and happiness?
The door opened softly and she heard him walk inside. His steps were light, and so was his breathing as if he was forcing himself to breathe. Elias stood against her door, not saying a word to her, as if he was thinking about something deeply.
“You fainted.” He mumbled the words at her.
He knew she was awake as Myra sat up in bed and turned to face him. He was shirtless, only wearing a pair of black shorts. Sweat was dripping down his body as if he had pushed his body over the edge. She couldn’t stop herself from looking at his tattoos. They covered one of his arms and his chest. It was a beautiful design but with names swirling through but she couldn’t make out the names in the dark.
She watched him. He watched her.
Unspoken words flashed through their eyes. She didn’t know what to say to him as he watched every breath she took.
“I’m sorry for everything.” She apologised to him quietly. The pain he was feeling was all her fault.
“She found me besides the lake house which was a clearing and she looked after me. She looked after us all.” His voice broke a little and Myra climbed out of bed. “She’s gone and I don’t know how to fucking feel.” He sighed as he rubbed his face hard. “I want to scream and get rid of everything.”
Myra walked towards him. She didn’t know what to say as she pulled his hands away from his face and held both of his hands. He looked into her eyes.
“Let it all out.” Myra whispered to him softly. She had never taken her own advice but she didn’t like to see Elias in pain. She hated it. It twisted her heart as she saw the tears in her eyes.
“She’s gone.” His voice broke as he wrapped his arms around her body and hugged her tightly. He buried his face in her neck as she wrapped her arms around him.
Myra knew that deep down she could never be friends with Elias. He pulled her closer to himself, silently crying on her shoulder as she hugged him tightly. Myra closed her eyes. This. This was what she needed. She couldn’t let go of him as she gir his body perfectly.
They were made for each other, she could never deny the feelings that were in her heart. Every look made her heart beat, every word he said made her heart flutter. His smile would make ignite flames inside of her even when she pushed the feelings away.
She had tried. So hard she had tried to ignore the fact she had a mate but it was times like this where she was in his arms, that made her want to tell him everything, for him to say he was going to be besides her always and love her no matter what had happened to her. She was scared though. Terrified.
Elias pulled away from her and she looked at him and the confusion in his eyes. “You’re burning.” He mumbled as he wiped his eyes and reached his hand towards her face.
Myra couldn’t feel it. The feeling of her body burning up every time he was close by had become so normal to her that she would dismiss the feeling.
He rested his hands on her forehead and hissed as he pulled it away immediately. She took a step back, wondering if he was truly okay.
“You’re burning up, Myra.” He said to her in shock as if he didn’t know what to do. She looked down at herself but she felt fine. Elias took a step towards her again and hissed at the ground. “Get in the bathroom.” He told her, pointing towards it as she saw him squat down and touch the floor that seemed to burn him.
Myra walked into the bathroom, Elias behind her, careful of the steps she took. He walked past her and into the shower. She saw him turn the cold water on as he held a hand out to her. “Come here.” She placed her hand in his and he winced at the pain as he let her walk past him and into the shower.
Freezing cold water hit her body and her eyes widened as she saw the steam coming off her. Elias frowned. Myra stretched her arms out in front of and watched as steam sizzled on her skin. Her wet shirt clung to her body as the cold water woke every inch of her body up. She tilted her head up and closed her eyes as the water trailed down her face.
Elias cursed at the steam but she ignored everything. Myra didn’t know why her body was burning but she was more in shock that the freezing cold water wasn’t cold. It felt warm against her skin as she sighed under the water.
Myra. Luna’s voice was so distant in her mind, a silent echo that disappeared as she smiled under the shower. It felt euphoric, the sensation making her body light up in flames as she stood under the water, her arms spread out besides her and the cold water poured over every inch of her body. Myra could hear the sound of every drop of water hitting the ground.
A hand grabbed her by the chin and she opened her eyes to see Elias standing under the water, his eyes full of worry as he stared at her. They didn’t move as he watched the water trail down and under her shirt. He didn’t let go of her chin, as she breathed deeply.
“I’ve been calling your name.” He murmured to her, his eyes no longer holding her gaze. They were staring at her lips as she parted them. “What’s happening to you?” He asked her softly.
“I don’t know.” She whispered to him, staring at him. It was hard to breathe as his lips parted, noticing her gaze. Her body was burning, this time she could feel it.
Elias leaned down to kiss her and she would have willingly accepted this time but her insides burned. Myra let out a scream as she clung to her stomach and nearly fell to the ground, the burning so intense, it felt like her insides were being ripped out. Elias held onto her and lifted her up into his arms. Myra could hear his wince as he walked her out of the bathroom and into the room.
“What happened?” Liv’s voice filled her mind as Elias placed her on the bed. Myra twisted her body, and pulled her legs closer to her stomach, trying to get rid of the pain as she gritted her teeth. She didn’t know what was happening to her.
“I think it might be period pains? She just started screaming and holding her stomach.” Elias’s voice was full of confusion as Myra let out a blood curdling scream.
Luna, it hits. It burns. Myra cried to her but she couldn’t hear Luna’s voice. Couldn’t see her in her mind.
“That’s not normal.” Liv mumbled confused. Myra’s eyes were shut tightly as Liv said something else to Elias but she couldn’t hear the words.
“Make it stop make it stop, please.” She cried out as the burning in her body filled her mind, exploding every brain cell she had. She healed. She burned. She healed. she burned again. Stronger than ever the flames on her body made her claw at her head.
Myra’s eyes whipped open as she felt cold hands on her hands, soothing the burns. Elias was holding onto her hands. “It burns.” Myra whispered softly to him.
His eyes softened and he nodded as he climbed over her body. Elias straddled her body, his gaze never breaking from hers as he said, “leave.”
The door closing echoed in Myra’s mind as she stared up at Elias with tears in her eyes. This was not supposed to happen. It was his day to feel what he wanted to feel. The world was supposed to cry for the loss of a wonderful woman but Myra closed her eyes tightly as the burning started rising in her body again.
“Do you trust me?” She felt him lean down and whisper in her ear. Myra nodded and she let out a deep sigh as his cold hands trailed down her face slowly.
His hands soothed the burns, making them disappear in an instant as he moved his hands down her body slowly. She opened her eyes and watched as he pushed his hands under her wet shirt. His gaze never broke from hers, as he moved his hands over her stomach, making the burns disappear completely.
She was flames. He was ice. His hands were cold over her burning body as he moved them all over her body. She watched him as he moved his hands over her bra. The question was in his eyes as he waited for her answer. She nodded softly and Elias unhooked her bra. It came off easily and he let out a soft sigh as his cold hands cupped her burning chest.
He was soothing her. That was all. She pushed the feeling out of her mind as his hands wandered down her body. Elias moved down her body. Myra lifted herself up on her elbows a little, her upper body cooler that it ever was. She watched and waited as his hands trailed up her legs. She was wearing shorts that were clinging to her legs as well. Elias watched her, never breaking eye contact as he trailed his hands up her legs. The same question was in his eyes again and she nodded. Can I?
He pulled the shorts off her legs, never looking away from her, as she straddled her legs. She watched and felt his hand trailing on her burning thighs. She closed her eyes, breaking eye contact with him as she laid back on the bed,her body no longer burning. Every inch he had touched was cool. Elias’s hands travelled up her body, ever so slowly going up her shirt and his hands cupped her chest. A moan passed her lips as he removed his hands and leaned over her body. she opened her eyes as his hand wrapped around her neck softly.
Elias leaned down closer to her. “Friends?” He whispered to her. She didn’t know if he was mocking her or not but Myra could see the sincerity in his eyes. “I’ll be your friend.” He told her, his hand tightening a little around her neck as she looked up at him. He was leaning over her body and she wanted to wrap her legs around him, never letting go as he waited for an answer.
She saw the words he didn’t need to say. I want to be with you in any way you’ll take me.
She didn’t answer him as he buried his face in her neck, and breathed her scent in. His hand never moved from her neck as he sighed. “Aunt Mary’s funeral is tonight. Stay with me?” He whispered into her ear, never moving an inch.
“I’m really sorry.” She closed her eyes as she apologised.
“Look at me.” Elias demanded as he turned to look at her. He removed his hand from around her neck, and held her chin. Elias turned her chin to face him, their lips inches away from each other. “I know they were here for you. I told you on the first day that I am not going to pressure you into telling me anything but Aunt Mary’s death was not your fault.” He said to her softly. He moved off her body and laid besides her on the bed as he whipped the silent tears that fell from her eyes. “I killed them all and I will kill every wolf that comes for you. This wasn’t your fault.”
“It was.” Myra whispered to him softly. It was all her fault and he was only saying it was not her fault because they were bonded by a feeling that overpowered everything in the world
If she had never left, she would never have inflicted so much pain in a single day to them.
“Myra,” he said her name, “this was not your fault. You can not blame yourself for something that you did not do.” He cupped her face gently. “Nobody blames you.” Elias leaned up and kissed her forehead softly.
She was silent as she leaned closer to him and rested her head against his chest. Myra closed her eyes as she wrapped an arm around his body. She wanted to be held and fof the world to disappear around her.
Elias wrapped an around her shoulder, pulling her closer to himself as he kissed the top of her hair.
They could never just be friends.
