Chapter 22 A Party at the Webb Residence
“Hello, is Mr. Finnegan home?” Lucas looked at Angelina and asked with a smile.
“He’s home. What’s the matter?” A look of doubt appeared on Angelina’s face when she gazed at Lucas. After all, they thought that Aiden only had a stroke of luck the other day.
Before things became clear, Angelina decided not to speak rashly, for she saw a Rolls-Royce in front of the entrance.
When Aiden heard the noise outside, he walked out of the room. The moment he saw Lucas, a smile played on his l*ps. Now, I can prove to them whether I was merely lucky that day.
There hadn’t been any news from the other party for the past two days. Aiden initially thought that they had forgotten about the matter. It wasn’t like he could go looking for them, for it would make him look too eager to strike up a relationship with them, and he didn’t like that.
Nonetheless, he still hoped that they would contact him. He didn’t care about what others thought, but he was concerned about Angelina’s impression of him.
All the same, that didn’t seem to matter now.
“Hi, how are you?” Aiden said calmly.
Linda got to her feet. Over the past three years, no one had ever come to their residence to look for Aiden.
The moment she registered Lucas’ presence, she exchanged glances with Angelina. Both of them appeared doubtful.
“I’m sorry, Mr. Finnegan. Old Mr. Webb has been busy for the past two days, so he only told me to come and pick you up today. He has to thank you for saving the young master’s life the other day.” There was an amiable smile on Lucas’ face as he glanced at Aiden.
“Alright. Let’s go.” Aiden nodded upon hearing that. Since he had been invited, there was no reason for him not to go.
Just as Aiden was ready to leave the house, he took a look at the bag on the floor and gave up on the idea of picking it up.
“Are you going there on your own, Aiden? You said you’d take us with you,” Linda suddenly said.
“Do you
feel guilty or something?” Angelina scoffed.
“Do you mind if I bring a few people along?” Aiden asked Lucas.
“Since we owe you a favor, you certainly can bring a few people with you.” Lucas put on a smile and. nodded.
Since there was only one car, Harvey, Linda, and Angelina had no choice but to use their vehicle as they followed behind.

“Your family members are pretty interesting, Mr. Finnegan,” Lucas remarked with a smile.
He could see that Aiden’s family members didn’t take him seriously. It could be even said that Aiden had a low position in the family.
Even Old Mr. Webb thinks highly of him. How is it possible that he’s so insignificant in his family? Could it be that the Grays fail to see how valuable he is? Or is he merely lucky? Lucas was deathly curious.
“Haha, I’m sorry you had to see all this,” Aiden replied impassively. He didn’t mind what the older man said, but he decided not to talk to him any further.
When Lucas realized that Aiden wasn’t a talkative person, he decided to keep his mouth shut. He was a tactful person, after all. One had to know he was the one managing all the affairs in the Webb Family. As such, he was good at observing others and finding out what was on their minds.
Presently, Angelina was driving while her parents were in the backseat.
“I remember you telling me that Addie saved the young master of the Webb Family. It doesn’t seem fake, though.”
Linda initially thought that Aiden was only putting up an act, but when she realized how calm he was, she couldn’t help feeling diffident. “We’ll find out if it’s true soon enough,” she said with a scoff.
She didn’t want Aiden to succeed. After all, he had been mistreated by the Grays for years. If he succeeded one day, there was no way he’d treat them well.
Furthermore, he had just asked for a divorce.
“Mom, I think that Aiden is different from the past. You have to start looking at him in a different light. Otherwise, you’ll regret it,” Angelina said dispassionately while focusing on the road.
Although she always argued with Aiden, she wasn’t very pleased with the way Linda treated her husband.
“You don’t have the right to lecture me. He’s just a good-for-nothing who is lucky enough to gain the Webbs’ favor. Do you want me to be humble in front of him from now on, then?” Linda snorted.
“I’ll have you know that I’ve despised him over the years because I think he’s not good enough for you. However, you’re shifting all the blame to me now,” Linda went on to say, then crossed her arms and cocked her head to the side furiously.
“Regardless of Addie’s achievements, he’s part of the Gray Family. You have to stop treating him harshly,” Harvey said grimly.
Nonetheless, Linda didn’t respond to him. The resentment on her face showed that she took no lesson from her husband.
None of them spoke any further as they fell into their thoughts.
When they arrived at the Webb Residence, Angelina pulled up the car. Although the Grays lived in a pretty big house, their home was nothing compared to the Webb Residence. While the Gray Residence was a villa, the Webb Residence could be considered a manor, which reflected just how powerful the Webbs were.

There were all sorts of luxury cars in front of the entrance. While inside the car, Linda appeared uneasy. “It seems that the brat really had a stroke of luck.”
“Are we still going in, then?” Angelina said impassively.
Although Linda was usually feisty, she felt diffident in such a setting.
On the other hand, Angelina felt her emotions undulating in her heart. Does Aiden actually know a thing or two about medicine?
“Anyway, since we’re already here, we should probably go in,” Angelina suddenly said.
She wanted to find out if Aiden knew anything about medicine at all.
At the end of the day, the Grays were curious about such a prestigious family, and they wanted to broaden their horizons. However, when they thought about the fact that they could only enter such a place thanks to Aiden, whom they had always looked down on, they felt awkward.
As Linda tried to get out of the car, she took Angelina’s hand and said furiously, “Give me a hand, girl. My legs have turned into jelly.”
It seemed that the son-in-law she had always despised was going to succeed soon. How would he treat her in the future?
After leaving the vehicle, they realized that Aiden and Lucas had been waiting for them.
There was a hint of fear behind Linda’s gaze as she looked at Aiden.
When Aiden noticed the older woman’s gaze, he couldn’t help but sneer in secret. There was no doubt Linda was a coward who only dared to oppress the weak.
“Let’s go in,” Aiden said curtly without a hint of timidity. Once again, Angelina felt that Aiden was different now.
As the four of them followed behind Lucas, they entered the luxuriously furnished Webb Residence. At this moment, Linda finally felt she was inadequate; she was like a country bumpkin visiting a big city for the first time. Compared to a well-to-do family like theirs, the Webbs were significantly more powerful.
Nevertheless, the party wasn’t meant for Aiden only, for the luxury cars outside the entrance and the important guests in the main hall proved that point.
