Chapter Secret Wedding 232
Chapter 232 Carrying Isabel to the Bathroom The scene shifted, revealing Isabel gasping for air.
Though the old men weren't skilled fighters, they had clearly taken a concoction of drugs that made them behave wildly. Charging at her like madmen, their ferocity was evident. It could be seen from Jessica's screams.
To make matters worse, Isabel's vision was blurry, and she had to shield her stomach from harm. While she managed to avoid direct injuries, the continuous struggle was depleting her energy rapidly. If the situation went on, the consequences could be dire. Suddenly, a hand reached out toward her.
Not again! I'm not ready yet!
Isabel instinctively kicked out, but the pain in her lower abdomen forced her to hold back most of her strength.
Her hesitation allowed her opponent an opening. The man lunged from behind, grabbing her hair.
D*mn it!
Isabel cursed silently, furious. Of all things, she despised when someone pulled a woman's hair.
Just as she prepared to react, someone she had knocked down earlier seized her leg, preventing her from turning to confront the attacker behind her.
Then, a familiar voice rang in her ears, "D*mn it!"
For Isabel, the sound of that voice felt like rain on a parched land, filling her with relief.
Xander wasted no time. He broke the wrist of the man pulling Isabel's hair and delivered a powerful kick.
The old man flew backward as if hit by a speeding train, clutching his stomach in pain. With a loud crash, he slammed into the wall, slumped down, and passed out.
Max arrived just in time to witness the brutal scene, deeply impressed by Xander's rage. Judging by the intensity of his actions, what followed would surely be even more terrifying.
Thinking that, Max reached over and covered Yvette's eyes.
"What are you doing?" she protested.
"Don't watch. It's not good for our kids to see this."
With that, Max quietly shut the private room's door.
As expected, the next moments were as grim and violent as Max had anticipated.
After finishing off the attackers, Xander turned to Isabel. Before he could speak, she leaned into his arms.
"Xander, I'm exhausted. Let's go home," she murmured.
Her legs were weak, and her stomach ached. While she could push herself further, she refused to endanger the three lives growing inside her. Instead, she allowed herself to rest in Xander's embrace. Xander gazed at her, his eyes brimming with tenderness. Seeing her rare display of vulnerability, he responded softly, "I'll carry you back."
His gentle tone warmed Isabel's heart.
"Thank you," she replied.
If Xander hadn't arrived in time, her fate might have mirrored Jessica's.
Recalling Jessica, Isabel suddenly remembered something.
"Jessica called reporters and the police. She wanted to expose me and destroy my reputation."
"Then we'll make sure she pays for it," Xander replied coldly, echoing Isabel's unspoken thoughts.
To some extent, he seemed to be in tune with her.
Isabel couldn't help but smile and give him a thumbs up. "Well said!"
Xander chuckled, shaking his head. Isabel often seemed more mature than her peers, as if life had forced her to grow up quickly.
But occasionally, her playful side surfaced, leaving him at a loss.
Still, it was precisely this blend of maturity and mischief that made her so captivating to him.
Of course, he enjoyed it.
"Let me gort can't see!" Yvette protested as she struggled to pull Max's hand away from her face. The moment she succeeded, her eyes landed on Xander carrying Isabel out of the private room. FindNovel
For a second, Yvette felt as if the world had turned into a love story.
"Uh, maybe you're right. It's probably better if kids don't see too much of this," she muttered, grabbing Max's hand again and using it to block her view.
She wasn't about to get caught up in her friend's romantic moment.
Xander brought Isabel back to the villa, carefully laying her on the bed. His movements were so delicate that it was as though he were handling a priceless piece of art rather than a person. He leaned closer, his gaze fixed on her face.
Even though Isabel's vision was
blurry, she could sense his presence. The warmth of his breath brushing against her skin told her just how near he was. Feeling flustered, she cleared her throat and shifted back slightly.
"My eyes should be okay. I just need to rinse them with some clean water. But it might take a day or two before they fully heal." As a doctor, Isabel knew exactly what her condition was. "Okay, I'll help you to the bathroom," Xander said, supporting her as they made their way there.
"Be careful." But, in reality, he was practically carrying her.
With her heels brushing the floor, Isabel couldn't resist rolling her eyes and teasing, "Why don't you just carry me the whole way?"
"Alright then." Xander bent down and lifted her effortlessly, letting her bottom rest on his arm.
Isabel was shocked. Was he seriously treating her like a child?
Feeling unsteady in his arms, she instinctively wrapped her arms around his neck to keep from falling. She realized she had never been? carried like this before-this kind of hold was usually reserved for parents carrying their kids.
"Uh, don't you think this is a little awkward?"
Xander looked at her flushed face and said, "I think it's just fine."
Before she could respond, he added, "It'll make it easier for you to wash your face later."
"What? Are you going to carry me while I wash my face too?" Isabel blinked, clearly surprised.
Xander grinned at her reaction and didn't hesitate. He picked up the pace and carried her into the bathroom, settling her on the edge of the sink while still supporting her with one arm.
"Put me down. I can manage on my own," Isabel said, feeling embarrassed even though she couldn't see herself.
"Stay still," Xander advised playfully. "If you move too much, I'll have trouble holding you."
Isabel was in great shape, weighing just over 110 pounds.
People often said that a woman weighing less than 110 pounds was either too thin or too short, but Isabel was tall with curves many would envy.
In reality, Xander was only teasing her. Lifting 110 pounds was nothing for him, but he didn't want her to get off.
Isabel realized that he was holding her up with one arm-a feat most people couldn't manage so she didn't think too much of his words, assuming he was struggling.
"I told you to put me down-"
Before she could finish, Xander silenced her with a kiss.
