Chapter Secret Wedding 229
Chapter 229 A Disgusting Scene
Isabel's attention instinctively fell on Xander's exposed chest.
His well-defined pecs and abs were flawless.
This guy was definitely trying to seduce me!
Did he think I was that easy to tempt?
I wouldn't look!
While Isabel's mind struggled, her body betrayed her, and she couldn't control her gaze, which remained fixed on him.
"Hm?" The man's deep, magnetic voice was so captivating.
Startled, Isabel snapped out of her daze. Once she regained her composure, she remembered she had left her earlier words unfinished.
"We're in a contract marriage, limited to one year. It's not a real marriage, and we're not even boyfriend and girlfriend. Yet, you keep kissing me and taking advantage of me. Don't you think that's inappropriate?" Xander's dark eyes locked onto her without blinking. After a moment of silence, he said, "Fine. From now on, you're free to return everything I've done to you."
Isabel's mouth fell open slightly. Her gaze drifted from the man's extraordinarily handsome face down to his sharp jawline, then further down to his Adam's apple that exuded masculine charm. And then... Ugh. This was a vicious cycle.
Finally, Isabel rubbed her temples.
Return it? Wouldn't that just put her in the same situation again?
"Anything else?" she asked.
"No," Xander replied decisively.
Forget it. Clearly, this conversation was going nowhere.
The moment Xander left the room, Yvette snuck in with a sly grin plastered on her face. Her teasing gaze made Isabel's scalp tingle.
"Come on, spill it. Did you two, you know, do it last night?"
Isabel rolled her eyes at her and glanced down at her stomach. "Do you think that's even possible? What do you take me for-someone as reckless as you?"
"Hey, I was just asking. Why bring me into this?"
"Well, it has nothing to do with you, of course. You only have a thing with Max."
And so, Isabel and Yvette began to bicker again.
"Enough about that," Yvette said, waving it off. "There's an event tonight. A little get-together with our friends. Want to join?"
"Sure. Might as well unwind a bit."
That evening, Isabel drove herself and Yvette to an entertainment club for the gathering.
As soon as they stepped inside, a familiar figure crossed their path.
"Hey, Isabel, look! Isn't that ... " Yvette tugged on Isabel's shoulder.
Following Yvette's gaze, Isabel saw a plump man sitting in a booth with a woman draped over him.
His hands roamed freely under her clothes, and the woman leaned coquettishly into his embrace, whining and purring.
The man, clearly enjoying himself, pulled out a 500-dollar bill and stuffed it into the low neckline of her dress. The woman's chest was almost fully exposed with a slight tug. "It's her?"
It was Jessica, Reggie's former fiancée.
Back when Jessica had been with Reggie, she wasn't particularly stunning, but her sweet face had earned her a reputation as someone pure and innocent at their school. After breaking off her engagement with Reggie, Jessica had latched onto Clive, a twisted and manipulative man.
She'd thought she had secured herself a golden ticket, only for Clive to be taken down by Xander.
Isabel never expected Jessica to fall so far-to end up as a prostitute at an entertainment club.
"Come on, sweetheart, give me a kiss," the plump man slurred and exaggeratedly puckering his lips as he leaned in for a slobbery kiss.
From where Isabel stood, it looked like the man had swallowed Jessica's entire mouth, chin included.
"Ugh, gross!" Yvette shuddered so hard as she got goosebumps.
Isabel couldn't help but shudder in disgust.
The man was so obese that he
looked uncannily like a gorilla. That alone was bad enough, but his massive stomach, larger than what you'd expect from someone nine months pregnant, was simply appalling.
And the worst part? The man's balding head.
Yet, instead of accepting his fate, he had combed a few pathetic strands of hair across his shiny scalp.
His face, glistening with oil, looked even more nauseating as it oozed sweat.
Jessica turned her head upon hearing familiar voices. When her eyes landed on Isabel and Yvette, she froze.
It's them!
Jessica's thoughts spiraled back to what had just happened to her and Yvette's earlier comments. If she could've found a crack in the ground to hide in, she would've gladly burrowed in. Embarrassment.
Humiliation.
Rage.
Her emotions snowballed, and when she looked at Isabel, her gaze brimmed with hatred.
In Jessica's eyes, it was all Isabel's fault! If it weren't for her, Reggie wouldn't have been so resolute about refusing to get back together with her.
If they had reconciled, she wouldn't have sold her soul and body to someone like Clive.
Clive somehow managed to offend the Bennetts, the wealthiest family in Solaria, and his downfall had been catastrophic.
She had lost her golden ticket and ended up as a nightclub prostitute now.
"Come on, sweetheart, it's your turn to kiss me now. Make it deep and passionate-I like it fiery," the obese man said as he looked at Jessica lewdly.
Jessica hesitated. She was mortified that Isabel and Yvette were watching.
"What's the matter? Not in the mood?" the man grunted, stuffing another 500 into her hand before giving her backside a resounding slap.
Jessica bit back her pain and forced a strained smile. "Of course not."
Afraid of upsetting the wealthy patron she had worked so hard to latch onto, Jessica had no choice but to steel herself.
Even with Isabel and Yvette still watching, she leaned in and gave the man a big kiss.
"Ugh-this is too much. I can't take it anymore. I'm about to lose my appetite for dinner," Yvette groaned, gagging. "Isabel, let's get out of here. If I see any more of this, I'll have nightmares tonight."
She grabbed Isabel's hand and practically dragged her away. Moments later, the two found themselves in the restroom.
"I can't believe Jessica has fallen to this level. I mean, I never liked her much to begin with. She always struck me as shallow and opportunistic but she wasn't my friend, so it wasn't my place to say anything. Looking back now, though, it's a good thing that after you and your brother got kicked out of the Zimmermans, Jessica's true colors came out, and she dumped him. Can you imagine someone like Jessica as your brother's wife? She would definitely have cheated on him and humiliated him.
"Reggie is such a great guy! He's gentle, patient, good-looking, and talented. He deserves someone truly amazing. "Jessica? Pfft, no way."
Yvette was mid-sentence when a hand suddenly reached out and gave her a push.
