Chapter In Regret Novel 21
Chapter 5
Early the next morning, I went to the piano shop and rented a room from Maurice.
I played the piece I had composed the night before. The melody flowed effortlessly, filled with the passion and strength Lena had awakened in me.
When I played the last note, Maurice applauded. "Shirley, you're a genius," he said, clearly shaken and sincere. "You will be a success."
"Thank you." I asked him to record a video for me and post it to my online account.
After posting it, I quickly forgot about it because I had a lot of things to do to start my new life.
A few days after, I was about to go shopping for some necessities, I saw a familiar car outside my flat
Lorik was smoking a cigarette by the side of the car. I wasn't sure if he was just passing by or if he was here for me, but I sure as hell didn't want to see him.
He saw me and came striding towards me. He was as handsome as ever. Without asking, he took my hand and led me to the car, which held an elaborate gift box.
I was puzzled. "What is this?" I asked.
"Open it," he said, his expression unreadable.
I opened the box to find an exquisite evening gown and a matching set of jewelry inside. "Why are you giving me this?" I asked, confused.
He sighed. "I still need you, Shirley. I need you to attend the party with me."
My heart raced. "Why, Lorik? Why now?"
He looked into my eyes, his gaze intense. "Because you're still my Luna. And there's something you need to know."
His words left me in suspense, a mix of emotions swirling inside me. I could feel is constant gaze, as ff he was hoping to see some positive response from my end. His ears all stretched out to hear the 'yes' for what ever he asks as he has been hearing all these years Once upon a time, during the grand festivals, Lorik would shower me with expensive gifts

kept the jewelry and money, but what I truly craved was his love and companionship.
Tonight, however, I had no desire for either his affection or his lavish gifts.
I looked at the ornate box an exquisite evening gown and jewelry. "I don't need these," I said firmly, pushing the box back towards Lorik. "I won't be attending the party."
Lorik's face showed confusion, his brows furrowed in genuine surprise. "Sherry, you're a good mate, but you can't be a good Luna without a wolf," he said,
his voice edged with frustration. "We're not going to make it. It's for the good of the Silvermoon Pack."
His words cut deep. I knew all too well how incompatible we were. Our marriage, initially forged out of necessity due to his disability and my lack of a wolf, had become a tangled mess of circumstances.
His recovery and subsequent rise to Alpha had shifted the balance. I had become an afterthought.
Even now, with Lena awakened, I had no intention of rekindling anything with Lorik. We were done.
Lorik's gaze grew intense, almost pleading. "Do you remember our vows at the Alpha and Luna ceremony?"
The memory of those vows was sharp. I hesitated before answering, my voice tight. "That we would give everything for each other and the Silvermoon Pack, and that I would shoulder Luna's duties." His expression softened slightly, though frustration still lingered. "At this moment, you are still the Luna of the Silvermoon Pack
If not for me, then for your friends," he said, almost desperately.
The thought of my friends and family in the Silvermoon Pack tugged at my heart. They had been kind to me, and over the years, I had come to see them as my own. I couldn't ignore their feelings. Lena's voice echoed in my mind, calm and reassuring. "It's just a dance. You've achieved so much. There's no reason not to end things on a strong note."
weighed her words carefully. With a sigh, I relented. "You're right, Lorik. I'll attend the dinner, but it's not for you. It's my duty as Luna, and for those who care about me." Lorik's relief was palpable. "I'll pick you up tomorrow at this time."

The following evening, I donned a midnight-blue gown that flowed elegantly around me. Delicate Deadwork caught the light, and matching jewelry sparkled at my neck and wrists.
As I arrived at the grand venue, my breath was taken away by the sight: opulent chandeliers bathed the ballroom in a golden glow, while the room buzzed with the hum of refined conversation and laughter.
Holding Lorik's hand, I mingled with the guests. Many Alphas and Lunas praised us, their compliments mixed with admiration. Inside,
I struggled to maintain a smile, the truth of our impending separation weighing heavily on me.
Amidst the festivities, I was struck by a familiar melody. My heart skipped a beat. It was the same
one I had released just days ago.
The music enveloped me, pulling me into its haunting embrace.
At that moment, I overheard the excited chatter of the ladies gathered at the banquet:
"Hey, did you hear? The musician 'Monologue,' who's been all the rage lately, has reportedly accepted Lorcia's invitation to perform at her wedding!"
I was stunned.
I had never agreed to Lorcia's request to perform-this must be a lie she concocted to deceive
everyone.
Little does she know that the real "Monologue" is right here at the event. What I need to do now is expose her lies in front of everyone at the banquet.
