Chapter 18
Chapter 18 Force Her to Marry Him
Gwyneth frowned. “What if I say no?”
Her grandmother told her not to compromise in marriage!
Happiness mattered the most.
Although it was fake, Gwyneth felt reluctant.
Then Darron’s eyes turned colder. “Did you hear him?”
If she said no again, she could only leave Harbor City!
Gwyneth wanted to say something. But she knew it was not a good time to resist under his sharp eyes. She had to compromise.
Seeing that she was silent, Darron asked, “Where are your documents needed for the register?”
“My older sister keeps them,” she lowered her head and said.
Darron checked the time. “You don’t need to go to work this afternoon. Go get them.”
Somehow, Gwyneth felt that they forced her to marry Raynard!
She imagined the roses and candles at her wedding before. And she also imagined meeting her husband’s family.
But she had never expected that she would be asked to take her documents and marry a man directly.
Threatened though, she nodded. “OK. How long?”
Darron raised his brow. “What?”
“Didn’t you say it was just a fake marriage?” Gwyneth reacted. She knew she had to accept it.
But she needed to figure things out.
Darron frowned. “You should ask Mr. Fletcher.”
The priority was to nip Raynard’s scheme in the bud. But he had no idea how long their marriage would last.
Raynard put on a distracted face. She didn’t dare to ask Raynard.
She came out of Darron’s office.
She had a pale face.
Raynard was handling documents in his office. As he raised his head, through the window, he saw Gwyneth, who was packing up her stuff and was ready to leave.
Her low spirits annoyed him.
Darron came in. Raynard asked in a deep voice, “Done?”
Darron nodded and said, “You should say it in private. After all, it’s a marriage!”
But Raynard threatened her directly. Darron worried that Gwyneth might be frightened away.
Although so many women in the city wanted to marry Raynard, it was hard to find a suitable woman!
Raynard remained silent with a dark face!
Gwyneth’s reluctant face displeased him.
Darron said, “I’ve asked her to bring her documents. She had a sister.”
Raynard said nothing more.
Darron felt that it was reasonable that Raynard didn’t ask anything about her sister.
After all, it was a fake marriage. It was not necessary to pay much attention to the procedures.
After walking out of the company, Gwyneth didn’t leave at once. She texted Janine.
She waited at the flower bed near the company.
Soon, Janine came.
She ran over and gasped, sitting next to her.
She handed Gwyneth snacks and opened a drink. “What’s wrong?”
Gwyneth took the snack and grabbed a bit. “I’m getting married.”
Janine spat out the drink.
She looked at Gwyneth in shock. “What did you say? I didn’t hear you clearly!”
Didn’t Gwyneth say she would remain single like her? Was Gwyneth going to leave her in the lurch?
Gwyneth lowered her head. “With Mr. Fletcher!”
“What’s going on?”
Janine was puzzled.
Darron said it was a fake and secret marriage.
But she didn’t want to lie to Janine. And it was impossible to hide it from Janine!
Gwyneth told Janine about what happened. And Janine opened her mouth wide.
Although Gwyneth mentioned every detail, she was still in shock and confusion.
“They knew you were that woman?” Janine finally asked.
Gwyneth shook her head. “They don’t know. But they asked me to say so!”
Janine was still puzzled.
What was going on?
So Raynard still didn’t know the woman was Gwyneth. But he must get married now.
And Gwyneth must be the woman. Janine wondered, “Why? To nip someone’s scheme in the bud?”
After a long time, Janine finally figured things out.
She signed, “You’re doomed to be together!”
It was terrifying, however.
If Raynard had known the woman was Gwyneth, things would be different.
“Say yes!” said Janine.
If she didn’t say yes, Janine would be implicated.
Gwyneth said, “If I say no, I’ll have to leave Harbor City.”
“It’s not a big deal. But if the Hart family has to leave…”
It would be tricky!
They had worked so hard to keep the secret. Now, they had to keep doing it.
“What are you going to do now?” As Gwyneth was silent, Janine asked.
Gwyneth said, “Go to my sister.
“To get my documents stuff.”
After her mother got married again, she became a member of her husband’s family.
But Gwyneth and her sister were still with their grandmother. After her grandmother passed away, her sister kept her documents.
Hearing this, Janine handed her the car keys. “Here you are.”
Gwyneth shook her head. “No!”
Her sister and brother-in-law lived in a poor community in the suburbs. If she drove Janine’s car, it would be too eye-catching.
Janine agreed. “I’ll drive you to the subway station.”
Gwyneth shook her head. “No need. I need to buy some gifts.”
Although she lived in the same city as her sister, she seldom visited her for her sister’s sake.
Every time she visited her sister, she would buy her niece many gifts so that her brother-in-law’s family wouldn’t complain.
“I can drive you to the mall then!” Janine was annoyed.
Gwyneth smiled and hugged her. “You’re so nice, Janine.”
Ever since she met Janine, Janine had been really nice to her. Primary school student just had their values built up.
At that time, many of her classmates disliked Gwyneth because she was poor. Only Janine, who was popular, played with her.
Janine was flattered. She felt less stressed. “Now you know it! Will you have dinner with them?”
“I don’t know. You don’t need to wait for me.”
“Got it!” Janine pushed her.
They went to the underground garage. In the car, Gwyneth called her sister, Karlyn Maynard. She asked about her niece’s height and weight.
Karlyn knew that she wanted to buy her kid clothes and said, “You don’t need to buy anything. She has clothes. You just take good care of yourself and save the money. You may need the money.”
Hearing that, Gwyneth felt warm.
She knew that Karlyn lived a frugal life. Kids’ clothes were usually of good quality and didn’t wear out easily. So Gwyneth found that her niece’s clothes didn’t fit her well always!
Her niece had a lot of clothes, but these were old clothes that Karlyn didn’t want to throw away.
