Chapter 29.|Together At Last|

I had almost forgotten what it felt like to be human. Well, that was before we attended school back on Monday. Even Landon had agreed that finishing up school would help us greatly, and offered to watch over the pack with Justin’s mom.
When we entered through the doors that morning, everyone gawked at us. I mean, they had only seen me and Justin as friends, but now, we were a couple. And that was never going to change, not that they were aware of, though.
I was pleasantly surprised to find out, however, that a lot of the kids that attended the high school did know about us, though, because they were members of the pack.
I walked through the halls, looking for Carmela, who ended up being right next to my locker, anticipating my arrival. “Where were you?” She asked when I approached. “I called you all weekend, yet you never-” She stopped mid sentence when she noticed Justin’s arm wrapped firmly around my waist. “So when did this start?”
“Oh,” I shrugged, “Just over the weekend.”
Justin nodded, and before I could protest, spun me around and kissed me, full force. I was shocked for a minute, before I responded, pulling him closer to me. That’s when it kicked in that we were still in school, in the middle of the hallway, and I pushed him away. He simply smirked, and gave me one last pack on the lips before letting me know he would be heading to class.
Once he had left, I turned back to Carmela, whose eyes were still wide. “You guys are moving fast, huh?”
I shrugged. “I realized I’ve always loved him, and that I want to spend a long time with him.”
Carmela sighed. “I knew one day you would finally look at what you had in front of you.”
I laughed. “Yeah, I guess you were right all along.”
“I sure was!” She was now giddy with excitement. “So, can we hang out and chat tonight- you know, girl time?”
I bit my lip, unsure what to say. Being the new Luna of a pack was no easy task - I still had loads of paperwork that I had to help Justin fill out, plus he had asked me on a date tonight. I didn’t want to give Carmela false hope.
So, I decided to tell her the truth, or as much of it as I could without giving anything away. “You see, I kind of was offered a job by Justin’s family, and I took it. Now I have a lot of things to do, plus Justin asked me out for tonight. Maybe sometime this weekend?”
She sighed, but nodded. “Sure. I don’t like sharing you though, just remember that.”
“I know, Justin doesn’t like it either. He says he wants me all to himself.”
Carmela put her hands on her hips. “Well, I can tell you one thing - I am not letting that happen!”
I laughed, before closing my locker and sending a look at my watch. “C’mon, don’t want to be late for class.”
All throughout the day, much to Carmela’s confusion, many people from the pack that attended high school here congratulated me on the new position, and insisted I would do a wonderful job. I honestly couldn’t have asked for a better pack.
At first I had anticipated Casey to be jealous that she couldn’t have Justin anymore, but she was already onto another boyfriend. Unfortunately, after the school year ended I would still see her since she was a part of the pack. At least she wasn’t out to get me, though.
I stood by the entrance of the school, waiting for Justin to leave class and give me a ride back to the pack house. I still couldn’t believe the turn of events in two weeks. I went from just being friends with the guy I had known forever, to being his girlfriend, practically wife.
I couldn’t believe, still even, that I had been thrown into this world, with no safety net at all. But I wouldn’t have done it differently.
Because now, I had Justin at my side.
And we were together, at last.
