Chapter 7
Abbygail’s point of view:
“You guys are all really tall, well-built and strong.” I started, while Scott came closer.
He hummed and nodded slightly, encouraging me to continue.
“You guys don’t create any products, so this is not a factory. You are outside a lot of the time and avoiding me at all cost, which is strange.” I continued, while he took another step towards me.
“You use the titles and hierarchy of that of predatory animals.” I went on, feeling cornered by Scott now, yet not afraid.
I’m not afraid? Why not? He is big, strong and can be aggressive! Why am I not afraid???
“But still, I have seen a lot of secrets, but nothing could explain what my crazy mind is thinking of.” I said while he had ended his prowling, as the wall behind me suddenly stopped me from walking backwards as well.
He put his hands on the wall, beside my head, and lowered his head close enough that he was breathing against my ear. “Say it.” He said while taking in a deep breath. His black, tousled hair was touching my cheek and it nearly made me swoon in his energy.
“No.” I said, which made him growl. “You are crazy.” I whispered and he growled again.
My heart was thundering in my chest and I needed to close my eyes to not want to look into his. I knew they were looking straight through me right now, but I didn’t want to acknowledge that.
Also, I didn’t want to acknowledge that his growls were rather… pleasurable…
Shit, fuck, no!
He took in another breath and when he opened his eyes again, they were black! Like black, black! What the hell?! Okay, maybe I’m a little afraid now.
“Tell me what kind of monster I am.” He then said, closing his eyes as if he had read my thoughts about frightening me.
“You’re not real.” I told myself, which I shouldn’t have.
“I’m not real?” He asked, smirking.
He took one of his hands from the wall and touched my cheek, putting a lock of my curly hair behind my ear, creating goosebumps on my soft skin. His fingers then trailed along my jaw, neck, shoulder, down along my arm and finally took hold of my hand. He guided my hand on his chest, making me feel how hard his muscles felt like until he pushed hard enough for me to feel his heartbeat.
“I’m very much real. Now tell me what I am.”
“You will laugh if I’m wrong.” I told him, no longer afraid of his black eyes.
“You won’t be wrong, you are smart.”
I’m going to condemn myself if I am wrong. “Werewolf?” I whispered, causing my heart to jump a beat when he nodded at my answer.
“Are you afraid?” He then asked me, while his black eyes kept gazing at me.
“Of the unknown, yes. Of you… I don’t think so.” I said honestly, which made him smile.
“Good, because I can’t keep myself away from you any longer!” He growled and put his hands underneath my ass to lift me up against the wall.
What?! Fuck, he is really strong if he can lift me up this easily! I’m not one of those thin models! I have packed up energy, stored at all sorts of places around my bones!
He stood right in between my legs, which had curled around his waist and my hands were on his chest, feeling his heartbeat quicken up while his… Holyyy… brushed up against my aching… NO he can’t! His face came lower, his lips nearly brushing mine…
“No, this can’t be!” I pushed against his chest, hard, and he pulled back his face, raising a brow. “I don’t want you to like me. It’s not real, you can’t like me!” I furiously shook my head. “No, no, no! Let me go!”
Scott’s point of view:
During our first meeting I had known, she was sitting so close to me and we were alone in the room, so no other smell was here to interfere with my senses. She is my mate, my promised one… I never liked skinny girls, as I wanted to have some meat to hold on to. And when I saw her that morning, I knew that she was the spitting image of all my desires. But, I’m an Alpha, I didn’t want to submit to another person, especially not a human female, that easily. But my arrogance took the better of me when she showed me how smart she was, cornering me into accepting a deal with her.
Even my Beta had known that I had it bad, as he kept smiling each time I had to run out of the packhouse to take a run and tug my hard-on to release some of the tension. But each day it was getting harder to avoid her, as by now she had been to almost all of the rooms to check out where she would be placing the equipment, so her smell lingered everywhere! My wolf was out for her, and I couldn’t keep him inside anymore!
But I had to… I couldn’t just bombard her with the knowledge of us. She needed to be eased into the subject so I wouldn’t scare her away. Werewolves are still a secret amongst the human world, and normally we would keep it like that, but she is my mate, so I can’t keep it from her…
My Beta had linked me that she was on the verge of realising now though, so I went here as fast as I could, wanting for it to be me, to tell her. Not anyone else, like I had instructed everyone.
However, as I was about to kiss her, ravage her, consume her… She trashed on my chest, fright and anxiousness roaring in, as she wanted me to let her go. But I didn’t want to let her go, so I just put my arms around her, holding her tight while she started to yell and scream.
What the fuck had I done to her?!
Had I been too quick with telling her?
“Baby girl, please, stop doing this!” I tried to stop her, by holding her tighter, making sure she couldn’t hurt herself.
But there was something wrong…
She suddenly stopped, like stopped with everything…
Her panic attack had knocked her out, causing her to breathe shallowly and for me to be frightened now. I rushed over to our medical bay, while holding her in my arms, bridal style, and yelled for Doc to get here.
“What happened?” He asked as soon as he saw Andrea unconscious.
“She freaked out and fainted. But her breathing is off.” I told him, relaying my worries.
He quickly opened up the buttons of her shirt, making me growl displeasingly, knowing I could have done that if she hadn’t freaked out as she did. “This is all my fault!” I said while punching the wall of the bay, creating a hole.
“Alpha, she will be alright, I think her body just shut down out of fear. Her heart rate is normal now, see?” He said as he pointed to the monitor, after placing some pads on her chest. “What happened right before she passed out?”
“Nothing! I just was about to kiss her!” I punched another hole in the wall. “So, there must be something wrong with her body, check her again!” I demanded and the doctor looked worried at my girl. “See? You know of something, tell me!” I roared.
“No, there is no medical wrong here, but perhaps she has gone through something that traumatized her too much. And what happened with you, caused her to relive that situation, shutting down her body.” He said in all calmness, not worried about having to address an Alpha in distress.
What? Did someone mistreat her?
What happened to her that was so bad, that she shut down as I wanted to kiss her?
Who did this?! I’m going to kill him as soon as I find out who did it!
I went to the only source of information that I could think of, Linda, and barged into her room without knocking. She cursed heavily as she saw her door broken down, out of its hinges, on the floor.
“What happened to her!” I demanded an answer.
“I don’t know, Alpha! You were with her in the conference room.”
“Not now, I mean in the past! What happened to her in the past?!” I roared.
“I only know that something indeed happened to her, as someone broke her down, but other than that, she hasn’t told me any details.” Linda told me frightened.
“Then who would know?” I asked her.
“She would.”
“She can’t talk. She fainted.”
“What? What did you do?!” Linda stood up, not being worried about not mentioning my title and made her way over to the medical bay, where I told her she was in.
She took her hand and sat next to her, for a couple of minutes, until she came up with an idea. “Have you tried her phone?” She asked as she picked it out of her pocket, while my precious woman still laid there unconscious. I hated phones so I shook my head, but Linda was handier with those things so she picked Andrea’s thumb and put it on the phone, which unlocked it perfectly.
I don’t know what Linda was doing, but eventually, she pushed some buttons and put it on speaker.
“Abby? Is everything alright?” A woman’s voice called out, which startled us.
“Abbygail? Are you there?” She tried again, using the full unknown name instead of the abbreviation this time.
Is Abbygail her real name? Not Andrea? What is going on? What happened to her that she had to give us a fake name?
“Uhm, hi, yes, this is her friend, Linda. I’m calling out to the most recent call, she has made, as I don’t know other people she is befriended with, but she has passed out just now laying in our medical bay.”
“Fuck! That hasn’t happened for a while now, sorry that you had to see that. She will probably come around in an hour or something. Just have coffee and cheese-onion chips ready, otherwise, she will be a hard creature to handle.” The woman said, after which we heard some children asking for her attention and then she hung up the phone.
“Abbygail? Is that her real name?” Linda asked me, but I couldn’t answer.
All I could think about was that something must have gone wrong, in her past, and I was dying to know what it was.
