Chapter 38
The sensation of my blood rushing from my veins into her mouth was like nothing I had ever felt before. Yes I had fed others in the past, mostly out of lust, and only a few that I had sired, but this was different. It was exhilarating. It was like my blood was trying to escape me to be in her, and she matched it's enthusiasm as she gulped it down each mouthful passionately. And although I was deeply enjoying this intimate moment, my heart ached so much. I was worried that I would now be losing my sweet, precious Luna. I know what turning does to humans, which is why I have only ever sired a few in the past. It amplifies their darkness behaviours and characteristics, frees them from inhibitions and even at times can flip on an extremely violent switch that can never be turned off. I didn't want that for her. I wanted her to remain her sweet self. But I also didn't want to lose her. For the first time in hundreds of years, I was scared.
It was my fault that she was so close to death and I hated myself for it. My demon unveiled himself to her and took advantage of her vulnerability. This amazing woman, I did not deserve her love and kindness. I did not deserve her at all. But here we are, with her in my arms, feeding on me. I could see the colour beginning to come back into her face, and her breathing had begun to steady. The healing effects of our blood are nothing short of amazing, but also her inner strength and fight were second to none. Once I finish siring her, our bond would be eternal. I loved the sound of that. I had never felt before, what I felt for her. I would move the heavens and Earth for this woman, and now, we would have eternity to be together. I had envisioned us together for centuries, had searched all of the ethereal planes and scouted the world to find her, never realising she would end up so close to me and stumbled into my world. I had connected to her in my dreams, but always dismissed it as my mind playing tricks on me. But this was no trick or a dream. My Luna, my dear and sweet Luna, would now be by my side for eternity.
"Geez brother, you better make her stop soon or you will end up turning to dust!", Draven cackled as he entered the room. Luna did not falter from feeding from my wrist, but drew in a deep mouthful and continued to feed, almost in retaliation to Draven's implication. "Well, when she's ready she will stop.". Her eyes shot open and stared directly into mine. They were a mixed glowing blue, silver and aqua, absolutely stunning and suited her to no end. She released her bite and laid back slowly into my shoulder, as she closed her eyes. "Have you explained what happens next to the poor girl. It's not just as simple as a drink and then hidey ho you're a vampire now.". I looked down at her, sweeping some loose strands of hair from her face, "No. But I will explain each part as she begins them. I do not want to overwhelm her.". Draven nodded, "Yeah good idea. Hey maybe we should get Jess in for support too. It's one thing listening to you, maybe a friend will help ease the transition.". I nodded in agreement with him. Having someone close that she trusts and has known for some time will help her feel confident that she will be ok. "Yes. That's a good idea. But let's get through the first few stages before we bring Jess here. I know they are friends but I want to be here for her myself.". Draven nodded back. "So tell me Brother....what's the plan now? Ravnos is dealt with, the Council have approved of this, now time for happily ever after or something like that?". Gazing down at Luna's perfect face I chuckled, "Yeah. Something like that... I hope.". The smile on my face widened as I watched the corners of her mouth creep up into a slight grin, almost as if she was smiling at what was being said. I laid her gently down on the bed, she needed to rest as the next stages of the transition were agonising. She would go through the rest of the physical transition, which takes a toll on the body and then have to have her first hunt and feed during a blood moon. A crazy time for all newly turned vampires. But with me by her side, I know that we will be fine.
"Make it stop!" She shouted again. My heart broke a little bit more. "I'm sorry darling. But I can't. It won't be long till this part is done. Just use the breathing techniques I taught you. Calm yourself. The more tense you are, the more painful it will be.". The physical transformation was the hardest part of being turned. Not only for the one in transition but for us, the ones who sire as well. As we are connected to them through our eternal blood bond, we feel every painful moment they do. I could feel her bones stretch and almost reach breaking point. Her muscles going limp then stiffening again as they stretched out. Her new fangs growing . Although this part took a mere few hours, it already felt like eternity and was killing me to see her in pain, but her strength would carry her through. Without saying a word, she shot her hand forward and sent out huge shards of ice throughout the room, shredding the curtains that covered the windows and putting out the fire that was keeping the room dimly lit. I lit it back up quickly as I wanted to keep my eyes on her. Her next scream could have shattered every glass within the room as well as tearing my heart apart. This was harder than I thought it would be. None of the others I had sired had experienced it this bad, but at least her transformation was almost complete. I had sent for Silvano to assist with some healing. He had helped ease the pain earlier and I was hoping that he could offer some support this time too.
Not a moment too soon, Nerine arrived with a tray of god knows what. "Silvano is detained Master, but has sent these for Mistress. I must say Master, please let me take over from you. You have not rested in days and look like death.", a short giggle escaped her mouth. Nerine knew me too well and knew I would find the humour in her remarks. "Well, death could only wish it looked as good as me." I chuckled. "But I am ok. It won't be long till this part is over and then I can rest with her. She will be asleep for a few days once her transformation is finished.". Nerine smiled, knowing my stubbornness would always win. "I know, but I am more than able to help Master. I could always fetch Miss Jessica to keep watch over her whilst you rested.". Although Jess would have been fine to care for Luna, I wanted her to know that I was not leaving her during this ordeal. I broke promises to her before and I would never do that again. Nerine began to wipe down Luna's face and neck in an attempt to cool her down. As I eyed her tray, I noted that she had brought in a couple of blood bags as well, which will come in handy for the insatiable appetite she would soon be fighting to control. She also had some other items and a small box with my Mother's insignia on it. "What is that?" I asked her, curiosity getting the better of me. "The Queen has sent a gift for her... for after her transformation is completed.". I nodded and thought for a moment. Knowing my Mother, she had planned this for a while. I laid down beside Luna, brushing the hair that fell over her face away. Her complexion glistened in the light from the fire. This woman was everything I ever wanted and more. Even though she had been through so much, and was still pushing through the pain, she had never looked so radiant and beautiful. I couldn't wait to spend the rest of eternity with her.
