Chapter Part 10
I hadn't heard from Jack for the rest of the week and to be honest, I was glad. It gave me a chance to finish up the rough draft of his house. Although, house was not the word to describe this massive structure. In fact it should be called a castle with its multi dungeonous looking towers and huge retaining wall around the premises that was sure to keep out all kinds of intruders. At 22,000sqft, 12 bedrooms, 12 bathrooms, a huge Conference room, a library, dining room and kitchen/living area this was entirely too big of a house for just one person. I never did ask why he needed something this extravagant and it wasn't really my business so I just left it alone.
It was 5:00 by the time I put the finishing touches on the house. Val had text me about going to the bar tonight and I had to say I was looking forward to it. After we got dressed we called an Uber to bring us to Gainsboro to a local grill that Val's classmates invited her to. They did trivia on Friday nights and her friends used it as a research project. We grabbed a table and soon we were ordering drinks. The game started and already our table was ahead by 10 points. I was starting to feel pretty good when all of a sudden I felt a pair of eyes on me. I slowly glanced around the bar suddenly stopping on the same blue eyes that pinned me the first day I met him in my office. "Jack!" I said in a breathy voice. Val heard the shock in my voice and was immediately on alert.
"Who?"
"Jack. My client I was telling you about. He's here." I said never breaking eye contact with him.
"Where?" She said before following my eyes to the absolutely delicious man in blue jeans, a white button down shirt and grey sports coat leaning against the bar. He was there with 5 other guys all in similar attire. He grinned when he saw me and I looked down in embarrassment after just eye-fucking him across the bar.
"Oh shit Val. He's coming over here. What do I do?" I said nervously.
"You say, hi." As she stifled a laugh at my uneasiness around men. But this wasn't just a man, this was a gorgeous specimen of a human being. I felt this overwhelming sense of calmness as he approached the table but Val kept a close protective eye on him.
"Hello, Anna. I never would have expected to see you in a place like this. Are you all here for trivia?" He said as he eyed a couple of Val's male classmates, one of who was sitting dangerously close to me and had been making advances all night. All of which I avoided. He was a nice guy but a little too hands on and forward for me.
"Yes and no. We are here for research. My friend Val is getting her masters in Roanoke and they have an assignment analyzing what type of people attend trivia nights and what percentage they actually know. This is the third one we've been to this week." I said as I tried to sound sober. "What might you be doing here?" I asked.
"I'm here for my friends bachelor party. We are doing a bar hop." He was standing so close I could feel his body heat on my chest. I caught him as he narrowed his eyes at the hands-on-dude who was full out staring at my chest while I was leaving over. I quickly sat up and got to my feet almost anticipating Jack to say something. But he remained standing, glaring at him. He looked back at me and all the heat rushed to my face. My fingers longed to reach out and touch him. My nipples puckered and I could feel my core starting to respond to his gaze. He gave me a mishevious smile and raised his eyebrow as if he could sense my body responding to him. It took all my strength to look away but when I did I felt a strong urge to look back. Instead I took a long sip of my drink and sat back down.
"Well it was nice to see you but I don't want to keep you from your friends." I responded in a raspy voice.
He leaned down to my ear and whispered "You aren't keeping me from anyone, Anna." And just like that my entire body flushed. My fingers were digging into the table in front of me and my legs automatically clenched shut. Damn, if his voice and eyes could do this to me, what would his hands and dick accomplish? What the hell has gotten into me? I was hoping no one at the table saw our little interaction but luckily they were all turned away looking at the bar where the trivia game was still going on. I turned my head to see him and was shocked that his eyes had gotten darker and his body was tense. He must have seen the look on my face because soon he was backing away closing his eyes and shaking his head as if he were apologizing for the closeness.
"Goodnight, Anna." He said walking back tensely to the bar where his friends were taking shots.
"Goodnight, Jack." I responded but he was already half way back to the bar and never turned back to me. What is it about this guy? How can he make my whole body practically orgasm at the site of him? How can his words stir something in me that I didn't know existed and then in one swift moment act like nothing ever happened? No, Anna. This guy is way too dangerous for you and he's your client. You have to stay professional. I nodded my head to myself. This will all be over once his house is finished. But damn if it wasn't going to be extremely hard keeping my hands off of him. I turned back to my friends as we finished off the rest of the pitchers of beers.
Jack and his friends had long left the bar but not before he gave me a stern look as if to say, go home Anna. The overwhelming feeling of saddness smothered me after he left so I continued drinking until I felt happy, luckily for me it only took two more drinks.
