As expected! Annabelle let out a long sigh. She knew Braxton and Madeline were not looking for her because they missed or worried about her. It turned out that they wanted her shares! 

The shares of the Ross Group were a birthday gift from her grandfather. Annabelle still remembered her kind and gentle grandfather. When he was alive, he especially liked to hold Annabelle on his lap and tell her stories. 

“What are you thinking about?” Madeline frowned when she saw Annabelle fall silent. She reminded Annabelle sharply, “You’re married into a rich family now. I don’t think you’re interested in the Ross family’s property. The Ross family has supported you for 23 years, and we don’t know what you can do for us. Now, as long as you return the shares, you and our Ross family will be even.” 

Madeline felt that they had already been generous enough. Otherwise, if she were to calculate it seriously, how much money the Ross family had spent on Annabelle in these 23 years? 

Therefore, Madeline felt that they had already done their best for Annabelle. 

“Who are my parents?” Annabelle did not directly tell Madeline whether she agreed or not. Instead, she asked a seemingly unrelated question.

With that, Annabelle turned around and prepared to leave. 

Madeline watched as Annabelle walked out, but she did not dare to stop her.

“I’m not hungry!” Annabelle shook her head. “Don’t you have food in your office too?” 

“Those are all snacks. If you’re hungry, I’ll take you to eat something good!” Lucas said. 

“I’m not hungry yet. When you’re done with your work, let’s go have lunch together!” Annabelle said and followed Lucas back 

to the company. 

Madeline, who was sitting in the coffee shop, saw this scene through the floor–to–ceiling window. For a moment, she could not figure out what she was thinking. 

She sat there for a long time before paying the bill and leaving. 

Madeline felt very heavy–hearted and didn’t know how to solve the problem. Getting back the 20% shares would be the best solution. After all, even their own daughter Ashley didn’t receive such treatment. 

However, Madeline didn’t want to tell Annabelle about her background. Even if she did, Annabelle might not return the shares. 

Annabelle naturally did not know what Madeline was feeling. She was actually sad. At first, she was reluctant to believe it, but now she had to. She truly was not her parent’s child!

They raised other people’s children so well, but their children were mistreated and raised by others.

“My mother asked me for the 20% shares of the Ross Group!” Before Lucas could say anything, Annabelle continued, “It’s not that I’m unwilling to return the shares to them. I just want to make things clear. If I’m not their child, whose child am I? Am I related to the Ross family? If not, why would my grandfather treat me so well?
