A Drunken Decision Cynthia Chapter 73
Chapter 73
Hazel had left the Walker family after dinner. She was planning to take a taxi home hersell, but Mary was worried, so she asked Brenda to send her
back home.
After Josh and Irving left, Mary couldn’t help but complain about Howard. “The kid seems honest, but I didn’t expect him to be so mean to his sister. I think he treats that girl from the Littleton family better than Hazel!”
Upon hearing it, Elizabeth could not help but roll her eyes at her mother. Howard’s thoughts had never changed since he was young, okay? Three Hazel could not compare to one Yolanda. Of course, three Elizabeth could not compare to one Yolanda.
Elizabeth then shook her head. Pift, she was Elizabeth. She was unique and priceless in the world.
It was his loss to think less of her.
“Why are you rolling your eyes?” Mary asked and threw the orange in her hand at Elizabeth. “Learn from Annabelle. Don’t be so carefree all day. Do you still want to find a boyfriend or not?”
When Elizabeth heard Mary’s words, she subconsciously looked at Annabelle. She saw her sitting together with Lucas. Annabelle held Lucas’s arm with one hand and rested her head on Lucas’s shoulder. She was staring fixedly at the television and giggled from time to time.
Did her mother want her to learn from this guy? Elizabeth couldn’t help but shiver. She didn’t want to look as stupid as Annabelle, even if she couldn’t, get a boyfriend.
“Mom, I think Eliza is great!” said Annabelle. It turned out Annabelle was not that focused, either. Mary’s words also entered her mind. Humans always liked the kind of person they could not become.
For example, Annabelle felt Elizabeth was bold and good at arguing. She looked very imposing and did not have to worry about being bullied.
As for her, even if others asked her to scold them three times, she would not be able to win against them. She might even be scolded until she cried.
The couple did not stay in the Walker manor for long. They returned to Pearl Garden that afternoon..
It was much more fun to be with everyone, and they were comfortable living in their small home, too.
They hadn’t stayed at their home for two to three days, but the part–time housekeeper, Brenda, came every day. Therefore, the house was still clean, except for the bedroom and the study. They needed to be cleaned up properly.
Annabelle wanted to change the bedsheets and blankets. She didn’t ask Lucas for help because she thought she could handle the small stuff for now.
When Lucas came in, he took over her work.
“Don’t ever do that kind of hard work again!” said Lucas.
Lucas said it in all seriousness. Annabelle was a little stunned. It was just changing the bedsheets and blankets. How could it be considered hard
work?
However, Lucas did not care. He helped her to change the bedsheets before going to do his own thing
Annabelle looked at the neat bed and giggled as she hugged the bedsheets that she had changed out of Putting aside whether changing the bedsheets was hard work or not, just being protected so carefully made her heart feel uncontrollably sweet.
Ah! Why was she so useless? She wanted to repay something back, but she had nothing.
In the end, Annabelle decided to make him a delicious meal!
However, her phone rang just as she prepared a table of delicious food and was about to call Lucas to eat.
Annabelle was in a much worse mood when she saw the caller ID.
After much hesitation, she answered the phone.
There was still something that had to be clarified in the end. Escaping could only escape for a moment, but not for a lifetime.
“Dad!” Annabelle called in a low voice.
“Darling, have you had dinner yet?” Braxton’s smiling voice came from the phone.
“Not yet. I’ll eat later!” Annabelle really was their darling in the past. But it was hard to say now.
“I see. Then I won’t take up too much of your time. I only want to ask if you have told Lucas about that matter. What did my son–in–law, Lucas, say?”
My son–in–law. The title was as flattering as it could be.
Annabelle felt very uncomfortable. Her father’s tall image seemed to be being destroyed by the person on the other end of the phone, bit by bit.
“I can’t help you with it! The Pearl Group has its own standards for who it wants to work with. He can’t work with whoever I want him to…..”
Annabelle said in a flat tone, but before she could finish her words, she was interrupted by Braxton angrily on the other end of the line.
“Annabelle, you’ve grown up!” said Braxton.
Chapter 73
“Dad” Annabelle whispered.
Her call did not evoke the father–daughter relationship in the past. The current Braxton was like an irritable lion that wanted to bite whoever it wanted.
“Just like what your mother said, it’s useless to raise you. If it were Ashley, she would definitely help the Ross family without any hesitation!”
Sure enough, he was her father of twenty years and knew exactly what to say to break her heart.
Annabel • changed dramatically all because of Ashley. If it were an ordinary person, they would indeed treat Ashley as a thorn in the eye.
However, Annabelle was never someone who would easily suffer. She was one who would try her best to live a more comfortable life under any
circumstances
“Dad, if there’s nothing else, I’m hanging up!” said Annabelle. Then she hung up without waiting for Braxton to say anything else.
As for how angry Braxton would be at home, it was naturally not something she could control.
A moment later, the phone began ringing again. Annabelle glanced at it and didn’t answer.
She had said everything she needed to say. She knew they kept calling her to scold her to vent their anger, so she naturally did not want to be scolded!
After putting her phone on silent, she threw it to the side. Annabelle went to the kitchen to bring out the last bowl of soup and called Lucas to eat.
When Lucas came out and saw the table full of dishes, he could not help but raise his eyebrows.
“What special day is it today?” Lucas asked.
When Annabelle heard him, she could not help but shake her head with a smile. “Quick, have a taste and see if you like it!” said she.
Lucas sat at the dining table, and Annabelle went to the bathroom again.
Then Lucas happened to see the glowing phone on the chair.
Lucas put down his chopsticks and took out the phone. The caller ID was Madeline. Lucas immediately thought of his mother–in–law,
He did not have the habit of answering other people’s calls. Just as he was about to put the phone back, he thought that Annabelle was not someone else.
Thinking of his mother–in–law’s unkind attitude toward Annabelle, he finally answered the phone to see what else she had to say.
The person on the other end of the line had already called several times, but no one picked up. It had already caused her anger to rise to its peak. Hence, as soon as the call was picked up, she started cursing without even confirming if the person who picked up the call was Annabelle.
“It seems you didn’t take what I said last time to heart!” Lucas opened his mouth and said faintly after she cursed for a while.
On the other end of the line, Madeline was strangled again. Before she knew it, the phone had hung up.
Lucas sneered and threw the phone away. Annabelle came out of the bathroom after washing her hands and did not notice anything wrong. She sat down and ate with Lucas in peace.
