With this thought in mind, the driver quickly hopped into the car to chase after Ariana.

However, Ariana simply offered a cold smile as she watched him chase after her in desperation. Belinda had always been too soft-hearted, and those who worked for her often took advantage of her kindness.

After all, Ariana was the heiress of the Torreys, who was a guest, while the driver was just an employer. Yet, he had the audacity to treat a guest with such disrespect.

In the past, she might have let it slide, but not this time. She would not tolerate it any longer.

Soon, the taxi pulled up to the grand entrance of the Lodge residence.

Although it wasn't the main Lodge residence, it was still situated in an upscale villa district.

When Belinda saw Ariana stepping out of the taxi through the window, her expression darkened. "What is this? Didn't I ask Zane to pick her up? Where is he?"

"I'm not sure, Mrs. Lodge Senior.."

The maid standing nearby looked equally puzzled.

Zane had clearly been sent to pick her up!

"This is absurd! I'm being humiliated in front of the entire neighborhood!" Belinda fumed.

Feeling upset, Belinda descended the stairs.

As she spotted Ariana walking in through the door, she stepped forward and asked, "Ariana, what happened? Didn't Zane come to pick you up?"

"Mrs. Lodge Senior, Mr. Lowell did come, but I think he seemed more interested in Ms. Granger, so I decided to get out of the car."

As soon as Ariana finished speaking, Zane stumbled through the door.

Belinda's face darkened. "I told you to pick up Ariana. What happened?"

"Mrs. Lodge Senior..." Zane's face turned pale. "I-I was just trying to make small talk. Who could have predicted. that Ms. Torrey would get so angry and do something so undignified? It's all my fault! I shouldn't have said anything. I was just advising Ms. Torrey to focus more on Mr. Lodge, but who knew... Who knew she would react like that? Now look at this! If words gets out, it'll bring shame upon you, Mrs. Lodge Senior."

Zane had been by Belinda's side for many years and knew her character inside out.

For Belinda, her reputation was everything.

This was the first time such a situation had occurred, where a guest had to take a taxi all the way to the doorstep.

As expected, Belinda's expression darkened when she heard Zane's words.

Ariana retorted, "Mr. Lowell, you're leaving out some important details. Didn't you tell me not to think I could get by just by flattering Mrs. Lodge Senior? And didn't you call me ungrateful and less sensible than Ms. Granger?"

"Well..."

"You know full well that Ms. Granger is plotting to become Mrs. Lodge, yet you still praise her endlessly, saying

she never mistreats the senior employees. It's obvious that you admire her and want her to become Mrs. Lodge, Isn't it?"

Ariana's words made Zane break into a cold sweat.

Belinda had the deepest disdain for Evelyn. While it was one thing for others to speak favorably of her, for a senior employee like him to do so was a line that shouldn't be crossed.

Belinda's voice turned cold. "So, you've spoken so highly of that woman from the Granger family, thinking you're doing your part for the future Mrs. Lodge?"

"Mrs. Lodge Senior, that's not what I meant! I-

"You're getting on in years. It might be best for you to consider an early retirement."
