Elaine's remark was obviously implying that Igor hadn't been worthy of showing up here in the past. When Gwen heard it, her expression grew a little stiff.

Still, Elaine didn't really mean to target Gwen and her son. She smiled and said, "Although Mr. Torrey is not someone we know well, there is plenty of time to get acquainted today. I heard that very few people in Gleaston can book the Royal Hotel's banquet hall. It shows Mr. Torrey must have a bright future." This statement helped ease the situation somewhat, but Igor didn't miss the disdain and contempt in Elaine's Meyes.

Not far away, Ariana was watching them. It looked as though Igor and Elaine were chatting and laughing. However, Ariana knew perfectly well that Elaine could never think highly of someone like Igor. If it weren't for Brian's status, the Shaw family wouldn't have even considered attending this banquet.

"Ari, what are you looking at?" Selena, standing off to the side, asked Ariana in confusion.

Selena was practically fuming. What were Gwen and her son even thinking? Ariana had arrived, and they didn't even greet her.

Brian was walking around with Evelyn.

At an event like this, everyone was watching to see who was favored. People could tell that neither Brian nor Gwen and Igor paid any attention to Ariana.

Naturally, no one came over to talk to Ariana. Most people were treating her like she was invisible. "Brian, why don't we go over there for a toast too?"

Evelyn had already picked up a glass of champagne.

Normally, someone of Brian's standing would never lower himself to clink glasses with Igor. Even if Igor was the host, he should have been the one bending over backward to toast Brian.

Yet, Brian's gaze was fixed on Ariana. She was just watching Igor and didn't seem to care in the slightest about him and Evelyn being close.

Brian frowned. Then, he took the champagne from Evelyn's hand. He reached for her wrist and said, "If you want to, then let's go."

Seeing Brian take her hand, Evelyn blushed.

"Look! Mr. Lodge and Ms. Granger are holding hands!"

"They are doing it on purpose, right? His fiancée is still here."

"What fiancée? Everyone knows Mr. Lodge is not into Ariana. I figure she'll lose her place sooner or later. That wedding will never happen."

Selena also noticed those stares around them. She patted Ariana's arm. "Hey! They're bad-monthing you. Don't you hear them?"

"What?"

Ariana hadn't been paying any attention to Brian just now. Hearing Selena's reminder, she finally noticed he was

"Brian is out of line! Does he even realize what kind of even this is? And he's still messing around with Evelyn! It's driving me nuts!"

"Leave it alone, Selena. Everybody knows I got close to Brian by imitating Evelyn. Getting mad won't help." "Ari..."
