"Mr. Lodge, can you at least tell me where we're going nowhat you've made me change into this outfit?" Ariana murmured. "This isn't something you wear to an ordinary vent."
"Come with me to the charity gala tonight," Brian replied curtly.
Hearing this, Ariana frowned. "Why not take Evelyn instead?"
"You want me to take Evelyn?" Brian asked, his tone laced with irritation.
"That's not what I meant. I just think Ms. Granger is a better match for you," Ariana retorted.
"Ariana, are you trying to push me away?!
"What do you mean, Mr. Lodge? You and I are just doing this as a business arrangement, and a temporary one at that. It's perfectly normal for us to lead separate lives. Everyone knows you're into Evelyn- It's hardly a secret in our circle. So, why bother taking me to the charity gala?"
Every word Ariana said seemed designed to test his limits.
Brian's expression turned cold. "Have separate lives, huh? Seems like you and William are having quite the time.
"Not as much as you and Ms. Granger. You guys already have a child together," Ariana retorted casually. Her offhand comment had Brian's expression darkening immediately. The temperature in the room seemed to drop by several degrees.
Ariana knew the subject of children was a sore spot for Brian. Though it had only ever been a rumor, the way he 'reacted now made it clear there was truth to it.
"Mr. Lodge, the stylists have arrived," Emily announced, walking in from outside. She was followed closely by a team of makeup artists and stylists carrying their kits.
"Take Ms. Torrey upstairs to get ready," Brian ordered.
"Yes, Mr. Lodge"
Emily gestured for Ariana to follow, leading her up the stairs with the team trailing behind.
An hour later.
Brian glanced down at his watch, Impatience flickering across his face. "Go see if she's ready yet," he instructed.
"Right away, Mr. Lodge."
Emily was about to go upstairs but paused when Arianna appeared, descending gracefully.
She wore a lake-blue mermaid gown that hugged her curves perfectly, accentuating her slender waist and elegant silhouette. Her straight, glossy hair flowed freely down to her waist, and her lightly made-up face radiated a beauty that was both stunning and ethereal.
Even Brian was momentarily stunned upon seeing Ariana. He had never noticed just how breathtaking she could look when she put in the effort.
"Mr. Lodge, this dress suits Ms. Torrey perfectly," someone from the team chimed in. "She's easily the most dazzling socialite in Gleaston tonight."
Hearing the voices around him, Brian snapped back to reality.

Ariana had always been this beautiful. It was just that she used to mimic Evelyn and had always clung to him, which made him overlook her natural charm.
Brian averted his gaze from Ariana and said coldly, "Come with me."
With that, he strode toward the door. Arlana followed closely behind him, her mind drifting to her past. In her previous life, it had been Evelyn who accompanied Brian to this charity gala. Back then, Evelyn's stunning appearance had even caught the eye of someone significant
