Chapter 54
Knox
“I understand, Knox, thanks for giving me a call. I’ll let the others know and we’ll be ready in case the Council shows up again to move against your mate.” Alpha Fox said, sounding frustrated as we spoke over the phone.
“Thank you, Fox, I appreciate all of your support.”
“Sure thing. Talk to you soon.” Fox ended the call and I sighed, staring at the blank screen.
“Everything okay?” Cameron asked as he entered my office.
“Yeah, that was Alpha Fox from Washington. He’s letting the other packs know what happened here in case we need back up.” I sighed.
“Good idea.”
“Were you able to talk to her family?” I asked, standing up.
“Yeah, it went about as well as I expected.” Cameron grumbled.
“So, they’re not coming?” I said in disappointment.
“Oh no, they’re coming, everyone but her mother. Queen Isla threw a huge fit, she’s pissed. But, King Nile said that everyone could make their own choice. Her siblings and the king all decided to come.” Cameron said.
“Well that’s better than no one. How about your parents?”
“They’re happy for me, for us, but my parents are terrified of the surface.” Cameron shrugged.
“You told them that the ceremony will be in three days but they can come earlier?” I clarified.
“Yep. I think they’ll be here tomorrow, but it’s hard to say. Sirens aren’t big on time.” Cameron laughed,
“Where’s our mate?” He asked.
“She’s with the girls having a spa day.” I said.
“Dover’s with her?” Cam’s expression was full of worry.
“Duh. Besides, the spa is on the grounds.” I replied.
“Oh, that’s good.” Cam sighed in relief.
“Cameron, there was something I wanted to talk to you about as well.” I said, sitting down across from him.
“Okay?”
“We should discuss making you an official member of the pack.” I said.
“Is that even a thing? I’m not a werewolf.” Cam raised his eyebrow.
“No shit.” I chuckled at him,
“Anyone can be a member of the pack. After Navy’s Luna ceremony we can initiate you into the pack. You’ll have to pledge your loyalty to us, donate a little blood, and then it’s finished. You’ll be able to mindlink with Navy and I.” I explained.
“I’ll be able to mindlink?”
“Just with us since we’re your mates. Navy will be able to mindlink the entire pack because she’s the Luna.” I said, pouting us both a glass of whisky.
“Wicked.” Cameron smirked and I laughed at his tone,
“So, that’s a yes?”
“Hell yes!” Cameron cheered.
“Alright, we’ll tell Navy tonight. Any progress with her?” I handed him his glass.
“She’s completely down with the triple mate bond thing now, but moving on from first base has proven to be difficult.” Cameron huffed.
“Took forever for us, too. She holds her cards tight to the chest.” I chuckled at his frustrations.
“I think it’s the whole friendship thing. She’s still struggling to see me as more than the goofy kid she grew up with.” Cameron said, glaring at the glass of whisky like it was to blame for everything.
“Then you need to show her that you’re not that kid anymore. Take it up a notch.” I suggested.
“I don’t want to push her too far and make her feel uncomfortable, though.” Cam said.
“It’s a delicate balance but Navy isn’t going to initiate anything herself. You’ve got to lead her to it.You’ll know when she’s reached her limits, trust me.” I tried not to think about how weird it was for me to be giving another man relationship advice to use with my mate. Our mate.
“This is quite a life we live, Knox.” Cameron chuckled, shaking his head.
“Without a doubt.” I clinked my glass against his and sat back in the chair. I looked at my watch,
“Navy should be done in about an hour. Why don’t you go pick her up?” I suggested.
