Chapter 21
Krakat found cover in a building close to the target. He wasn’t aware that Mishak and Cleo were in the building too and tracking his every move. 22
The last two men in the warehouse fled into the street, past Krakat, who aimed at them as they ran. He waited for them to pass and pressed the trigger of his laser. Both men fell even before they could turn the corner.
Mishak took the advantage, he came up behind Krakat standing at the window facing the street, and aimed his laser.
Krakat, seeing the glint of Mishak’s weapon in the window, spun around and fired. Without a sound, Mishak fell to his knees. Krakat shot him again, this time in the head.
A message flashed across the visor of Gideon’s helmet. “Fatality: Mishak Tshabalala-Maine.”
“Fuck!” Gideon squeezed the trigger of his laser and mowed down several of Krakat’s Androids on the other side of the road.
“Where is Krakat, Tumelo?”
“He’s in the building at the end of the street. Looks like Cleo is in there too. She’s taken cover in the basement.”
“Do something. Set up some kind of simulation but I want him out of that house and on the street.”
“Callum, cover me. I’m going after that thing…Callum?”
But Callum didn’t respond. “Tumelo, find Callum.”
“He’s approaching the building at the end of the street.”
“What the hell?” Gideon exclaimed.
His blood curdled.
