Chapter 29
Evie
The next morning, Noah appeared at my door at 7:00AM sharp. I groggily welcomed him into my room and warned him that I was not a great morning person, nor was I used to being around people first thing in the morning. It had been ages since I woke up with a roommate.
Noah had breakfast served to our room and, after a considerable amount of coffee, I started to appreciate Noah’s presence.
“How are you feeling this morning? Freaking out at all?” Noah asked me. I laughed at him. He knew me so well.
“Surprisingly, no. I feel….okay here.” I admitted. Noah grinned happily,
“It’s because you’re meant to be here.” He said. I rolled my eyes at his cheeriness, but went along with it anyway.
“Can I ask you to stay here today?” Noah asked sheepishly, taking my hand and playing with my fingers. It was Tuesday, which meant technically it was a school day. But, after all the excitement of yesterday, most of my classes were canceled anyway.
“Yeah, I want to stay today.” I agreed. It would give me two full days here to adjust, since I had off classes on Wednesday. Noah grinned, thrilled with my decision.
“I want you to feel at home here, Evie.” Noah said, out of the blue. A ping of pain shot through my chest as I remembered what I said to him on Friday. I told him that I didn’t feel safe at the packhouse or with him. I squeezed his hand, I needed to correct my mistake.
“I feel safe here, Noah. I’m sorry that I ever said I didn’t. I want this to be my home, too. I want to stay.” Noah crushed me to his body, lifting me off the ground and spinning me around.
“You have no idea how happy it makes me to hear that, little mate.” He purred. I giggled against his chest and wrapped my arms as far around his body as I could, clinging to him so I wouldn’t fall.
After a while, Noah sighed and admitted that he had some work to get done today.
“It’ll probably be a couple of hours, will you be okay for that long?” Noah asked, pausing at the door. I chuckled at him,
“Yes, Noah, I can entertain myself.”
“Right, well I’ll send Sawyer up eventually. Maybe you’ll like a tour of the packhouse.” Noah replied, seeming to be speaking to himself at this point. I rolled my eyes at him and danced across the room towards him. I reached up on my tippy toes and planted a kiss on his lips.
“Be safe, Alpha.” I smirked at him. Noah growled and cupped my face, slamming our lips together passionately. I broke away breathlessly and felt my cheeks burning red.
“Anything for you, my Luna.” He purred, giving me one last sweet kiss before vanishing into the hallway. I shook my head at him as I retreated into the bathroom to shower off last night’s trauma.
I had just gotten dressed when there was a knock on my door. It was Molly with a cart full of breakfast.
“Oh, I’m so glad you’re okay!” Molly gushed, wrapping me into a hug,
“And I’m so glad you’ve decided to move here.” I hugged her back,
“It’s just for now, Molly. I’m not committed to fully moving in yet.” I explained. Molly pulled away from me and pouted,
“But….why?” She whined.
“It’s a little early for Noah and I to be officially living together.” I said. Who was I kidding? I had definitely moved in, I thought to myself. Molly rolled her eyes at me,
“No way. Mates are supposed to live together. Being apart will drive you and Noah crazy,” Molly said plainly, pushing the cart to the sitting area and helping herself to some of my breakfast,
“Besides, staying in here is just like being in your own little apartment.” She added. I joined her on the couch. She wasn’t wrong, any time I spent away from him did drive me crazy. The last three days nearly killed me. That was proven by the horrible mood it put me in and the attitude I had with Molly yesterday. Which reminded me,
“Molly, I’m sorry about how I spoke to you yesterday, that was rude and uncalled for. You were just trying to help and I appreciate that.” I said sincerely, giving Molly a hug. She hugged me back tightly,
“It’s okay, Ev. I knew you were just in a bad mood from being away from Noah, I didn’t take it personally.” She shrugged as I pulled away,
“But, I will take it personally if you don’t move in!” She yelled at me, giggling.
“Let’s just get through right now.” I sighed, making myself up a plate of pancakes, eggs, and bacon. Noah really went all out with this breakfast.
“What are you going to do today?” Molly asked, nibbling on a cup of fruit.
“I guess Sawyer is going to give me a tour at some point and I need to unpack.” I motioned towards the pile of bags.
“Oooh, I can come back and help you!” Molly grinned. Something told me I was going to regret this, but I had a lot to make up for,
“Okay, sure.” I smiled. After another hour or so, Molly said she had some stuff to take care of and left me alone. I had no idea what kind of stuff Molly was in charge of and, honestly, I was afraid to ask. Anyway, I wasn’t left alone for long. Sawyer knocked on my door after a few minutes,
“I’m never going to get a moment’s peace again, am I?” I laughed as I opened the door.
“Noah just wants to make sure that you’re okay and not too lonely or bored. Plus, I wanted to convince you to stay forever.” Sawyer winked at me. I sighed,
“You and your sister are relentless.” I’m not sure why everyone was so obsessed with my living situation. I was here with half my apartment in tow. Obviously I wasn’t going anywhere anytime soon. Just because I wasn’t selling my apartment and demanding a key to the packhouse didn’t mean I wasn’t here to stay.
“We all want you to stay.” Sawyer shrugged.
“I’m not ready to be anyone’s Luna, Sawyer.” I grumbled, admitting the real reason why I was skeptical about committing to fully moving in.
“You don’t have to be, Evie. You can just be here as Noah’s mate. Yes, maybe people will call you Luna, but you don’t have to do anything about it until you’re ready. You would just be living here, getting to know the pack and getting to know Noah. It would make things easier for both of you.” Sawyer’s tone was serious. I looked at him sideways with a slight glare to my expression. These wolves were stubborn. Sawyer sighed,
“Look, okay, tell me that you’ve had a good night’s sleep since you’ve met Noah and I’ll leave it alone.” Sawyer dared me. I looked away from him and towards the ground,
“I can’t.” I grumbled.
“Of course you can’t, because being away from your mate is torture.” Sawyer answered smugly.
“I hate you.” I groaned.
“No you don’t.” Sawyer laughed,
“Now come on, I’m taking you on a tour of your new home.”
