Chapter 32 River
“Glad to have you both back at the castle, your highnesses.” Magnor said, offering me his hand as I climbed out of the carriage.
“Thank you, Magnor.” I smiled genuinely at him and he seemed taken aback at first, that is, until he saw the mark on my neck and his expression was replaced with an ear splitting grin.
“My Queen.” He bowed his head and released my hand once I was on solid ground.
“Magnor, what’s going on?” Calix asked, walking up behind me and placing his hand on my back.
“Revena is in the Tower. She just keeps demanding to see you. She refused to address you properly, she’s calling you by your name and saying she has the right to see you.” Magnor looked pissed.
“She has no right,” Calix growled, “Has she said anything else? Is she alone?”
“She came alone. She just walked right up to the castle doors and said she was the mate of the King and demanded an audience,” I released a dangerous growl at Magnor’s words and he clamped his mouth shut, staring at me with wide eyes, “Forgive me, your grace, I’m just quoting her.”
“River,” Calix’s sweet voice called out to me as he turned me in his arms, “It’s only you.” He cooed, cupping my face in his hands.
I took a few deep breaths and nodded, calming down if only slightly. Lavender was still seething in my mind.
“Continue, Magnor.” Calix said, his eyes never leaving mine.
“The guards sent for me immediately and I demanded to know what she wanted, but she refused. I had her put in the Tower even before Grier came back with your instructions. I don’t trust her, not for a second.” Magnor’s voice was cold and detached, which made me feel better about the situation. If everyone hated her, I didn’t feel bad hating her for myself.
“Do you want time to change first?” Calix asked me and I shook my head,
“No.” My fists were shaking with fury.
“Alright, bring her up to my office, Magnor.” Calix sighed, glancing over my head to speak to Magnor.
“You want her released from the Tower?” Mag questioned.
“Under strict guard. My Queen doesn’t need to be down there.” Calix replied and I glanced up at him in admiration.
Magnor nodded curtly and left with a short bow.
“Grier?” Calix called out and the Queen’s guard appeared at our side, “You’ll stay by River’s side no matter what. I don’t trust whatever this is.” He ordered.
“Of course.” Grier agreed.
“Let’s go to my office.” Calix took my hand and tugged me along after him.
Once inside his office, Calix ordered Grier to get the chair from the Queen’s office and placed it next to his so it was clear who I was. We both sat side by side in the throne-like chairs with high backs and soft, velvet cushions.
“River?” Calix took my hand and pulled my attention towards him, “I want you to know that no matter what she says, I love you and you are my mate. You were always destined to be my mate. The Goddess gave me REvena first so I would know just how lucky I was to end up with a woman like you. She was never the one for me, do you understand? She was never the Queen of the dragons, you are.”
His eyes bore into mine as he urged me to believe him.
“I understand, Calix, but you have to understand that if I kill her, it’s not my fault.” I stated plainly and Calix grinned,
“Goddess, I love you.” He kissed my temple and then relaxed back in his throne, our hands still clasped on his armrest between us.
There was a knock at the door, then. Calix looked towards me, cocking an eyebrow, and I nodded.
“Enter.” Calix commanded.
The door opened and two guards dragged a woman inside with Magnor behind her. She was tall and leggy with all the right curves in all the right places. She was wearing dark red pants that were glued to her legs and hips, and a long sleeve red shirt under a gold leather vest that was tied tightly around her chest, boosting her breasts out of the v-neck. Her golden blonde hair fell in waves over her shoulders with a series of braids wrapped around her head like a crown. Her bright blue eyes were staring straight at Calix as the men tossed her inside.
She stumbled forward, reaching her arm out to steady herself and I caught sight of the dragon tattoo on her inner wrist.
“Calix!” She cried out and took a few shuttered steps towards him.
I let out a warning growl and the two guards grabbed a hold of her arms and held her back. Her eyes snapped towards me and turned into a glare.
“You will address the King properly.” Magnor and Grier both growled in warning towards Revena.
“What is this?” Revena’s voice was melodic as she looked at me with a harsh expression.
“You will bow before the King and Queen.” Magnor said,
“Excuse me?” Revena laughed humorlessly.
The guards shoved her forward, knocking her knees out from under her as she hit the ground.
“You will show respect!” The guard hollered.
“Enough,” Calix held up his hand and spoke sternly, “Revena, you will address me as any other citizen. I am your King and this is your Queen.”
Revena looked at Calix with wide, innocent looking eyes, and then returned her glare towards me.
“What is your purpose here? You have been banned from the Royal City, returning is punishable by death.” Calix continued.
“I had to come. You’re in danger.” Revena said, her pouty eyes latched onto Calix.
“I have guards for that.” He answered plainly.
“No, I felt it. I felt it in my soul like I’ve always felt our matebond. You’re in danger and now I know why. She’s a false prophet, she’s a danger to you!” She jabbed a finger towards me and a snarl came from her chest.
Before Calix or I could react, the guards hauled her up from the ground and shoved her against the wall, face first.
“You dare to threaten the Queen?” The guard yelled.
“She’s no Queen!” Revena shouted.
“Enough!” Calix’s voice shook the room as the chair screeched across the floor and he stormed across the room.
He grabbed Revena from the guards and shook her violently,
“You will not disrespect your Queen and my mate. A bond does not exist between you and I any longer, Revena. She is the true love of my life. What you felt was the bond finally shattering between us when I marked my true mate. You felt the very last shred of connection between us breaking and vanishing. You mean nothing to me, you are nothing to the crown and to the Royal City. You will leave and never return. If you do, you shall be killed on sight. Am I clear?” Calix’s voice was deadly and more dangerous than I had ever heard before.
It should have scared me. Instead, it made me want to take him straight to the bedroom and assert my own dominance over him and his beast.
Calix dropped Ravena and she crumbled to the ground. He looked at me with dark lustful eyes, sensing my arousal, and quickly returned to my side.
“Magnor, see to it that she is escorted the entire way back to the Snow Cap Mountains and make my declaration known. She is an enemy to the Royal City.” Calix ordered with his arm securely wrapped around my waist as we stood together behind his desk.
“Yes, your highness,” Magnor bowed at Calix, “Your grace.” He turned his bow towards me.
“She’s no Queen! She’s not even a Shifter! I can smell it. She’s no good for you, Calix!” Revena shrieked, struggling against the guards’ grips.
The last of my patience snapped and Lavender growled through me, my eyes going black. I shoved away from Calix and stalked across the room. The guards held her still and bowed their heads as I approached with Grier and Magnor close to my sides for protection.
“What are you?” Revena glared at me, studying my black eyes and dark expression.
“I am the werewolf princess and the dragon Queen,” I declared, “Mate to the dragon King and daughter of the werewolf monarchy, chosen by the Goddesses of the moon and the dragons to unite our realms,” I continued,
“Who the hell are you?” I finally asked her wide eyes and pale expression.
Finally, the dragon whore before me shut her mouth and stayed silent.
“Get her out of my sight.” I ordered with a single wave of my hand.
“Yes, your grace.” The guards dragged her from the office with Magnor on their heels.
“Grier, get out.” Calix said in a strange voice.
I turned around to face him and saw that his expression was on fire, literally. Grier chuckled and slipped out of the room.
Calix was on me in a second, hoisting me up and sitting me down on the desk, clearing off the top of it in a single sweep of his hand. He ripped off my clothes in seconds and his were soon to follow before he was shoving himself inside me and drilling me on his desk.
“That was the sexiest thing I’ve ever seen.” He growled, his voice sounding strangled.
Lavender began to nip at my mind,
“Mate! Mate!” She yipped.
“What?” My speech was slurred and my brain foggy as Calix rammed into me.
“It’s mate. It’s Beau Feu.”
“Beau Feu?” I asked aloud and Calix grinned at me,
“Hello, little werewolf.” He purred, buried his face in my neck and sucked on my mark.
I didn’t care who it was, Calix or Beau Feu, as long as one of them got me to my orgasm. I cried out and squeezed my legs tighter around his waist, leaning back on the desk and bracing myself with my hands. Calix, Beau Feu, were rentleness in their hammering as they plowed in and out of me, causing one orgasm and then another to shutter out of my body.
My legs fell limply around him as the energy began to leave my body. Beau Feu chuckled as she slowed his pace and then finished inside of me, placing kisses up my neck and across my face until he was moving passionately against my lips. He slipped out of me and picked me up, carrying me out of the office.
The halls were empty and, for once,I was grateful for that fact as he carried me to his bedroom. I didn’t complain as he laid me down on his bed instead of the one I had been using and tucked me.
“I love you, my little werewolf.” He whispered, kissing my forehead before turning off the lights and slipping into bed beside me.
