Twin Soul

Book 3: Chapter 7 (6/9)

Back to the lower realms. Lazela has been flying from the Dryardian Empire toward the territory of Bifjorkian Theocracy using the seaway. Unlike Noe Clerico who has a nearly unlimited mana pool, Lazela had to land on some tiny islands several times to recover her mana pool before continuing to fly again. Twenty-two days later, she arrived within Flumen's city jurisdiction. At Flumen, the capital city of Bifjorkian Theocracy. Lazela flew above other humans who lived outside of the city toward the entry of the North Gate. Being alive for more than two million years, Lazela has learned the basic customs of human traditions. She landed on the ground while all the city guards of the North Gate were being cautious against her because they had never seen Lazela. Other magic casters of the Mages Council normally travel through horse carts instead of flying except for very few powerful high-ranking officials such as Lord Bohdan Brish of the Green. The city guards thought she wanted to attack the city, they quickly formed into a defensive stand, and the Captain of the North Gate commanded archers to be ready to shoot at will.

Even though Lazela looked humanoid, her green hair allowed the humans of Toria Continents to know she wasn’t one of their kind. The Captain of the city guards, who have over fifty thousand warriors under his command stepped up and loudly asked, “What is your purpose of visiting Flumen city?”

Lazela smiled and truthfully answered, “My name is Lazela. I am a Wind Walker conjured by the Supreme Leader of the Dryardian Empire, Kain Bersk. I am here to deliver two letters. One for Lord Noe Clerico of the Gray. And the other one is for Sir Arthur Castillon of the Gray.”

“Wind Walker? You aren’t human, am I right?”

“I am not human, dear Mister Warrior. May I know your name, sir?”

“My name is Semil Cathloy. Captain Semil Cathloy.”

“Ah, may I gain entry into your city, Captain Cathloy?”

“Because you are a conjured creature of the Blood Mage, I needed to request permission from one of the High Priests.”

“I appreciate your time. Would you mind requesting permission from High Priest Zora Faringray? She is Sir Arthur Castillon’s mother.”

“That's fine. Corporal Belor Whistler, take a hundred men with you and go ask permission from High Priest Zora Faringray.” Captain Cathloy directed Corporal Whistler.

Judging by Lazela’s appearance and the way she respectfully spoke to him, Captain Cathloy was no longer feeling hostile against Lazela. He gave the signal for the city guards under his commands to be at ease waiting for Corporal Whistler to come back with High Priest Faringray’s answer.

Two hours later. Captain Cathloy suspiciously asked himself, "Why Corporal Whistler hasn't come back yet?"

Flumen is a massive city. However, going back and forth from the North Gate to High Priest Faringray's Palace wouldn't take that long especially when riding horses.

“Hmm? Why is there such a beautiful girl being surrounded by the city guards? Green hair? I wonder what planet she is from.” A man whispered to himself as he walked toward the city guards.

Even when the city guards of the North Gate weren't shown signs of hostility against Lazela, she still had her [Wind Detection] spell activated just in case they planned to sneak attack her. Lazela heard the man whisper to himself and saw his handsome appearance through using her [Wind Detection] spell, she thought, "Who is he?"

“Oy, can someone tell me what’s going on?” The man asked out loud while approaching the city guards.

Captain Cathloy turned toward the man then slightly bowed to show respect as he greeted the man, “Great General Hayward.”

“Captain Cathloy, is everything okay here?”

“Yes, Great General. This is Ms. Lazela… I don’t know her last name. She is here to speak with Lord Noe Clerico and Sir Arthur Castillon.”

“Oh, why is she standing here? Open the gate for her to enter.”

Lazela quickly answered Captain Cathloy, “He can’t, dear Great General Hayward. I am a conjured creature of Kain Bersk, the Supreme Leader of the Dryardian Empire. Captain Cathloy already sent Corporal Whistler to request permission from one of the High Priests before he can allow me to enter the city. And no, I don’t have the last name, just for your information.”

“A conjured creature?” Great General Hayward surprisingly asked.

“Yes, dear Great General.” Lazela respectfully answered while charmingly smiled at him.

“My name is Brandis Hayward, you can just call me Brandis. I sensed no resentment from you. Ms. Lazela, as one of the Great Generals, you have my permission to enter Flumen city.”

While Captain Cathloy and other city guards were surprised that their Great General Hayward could easily allow a creature conjured by Kain Bersk to enter the capital city of Bifjorkian Theocracy that easily, Lazela happily thanked, “I appreciated your trust, Great General Hayward.”

“Not a problem. If I may ask you for a favor.” Great General Hayward said.

“Hoh? May I know what kind of favor is that?”

“Go on a date with me after you are done with whatever business you have in the Bifjorkian Theocracy.”

“A date? You and me?” Lazela surprisingly asked.

“Yes. Why do you sound so surprised?”

“Great General, I am a creature from the realm of Wind Walkers. I was conjured by the biggest enemy of the Mages Council, you dared to go out on a date with me?”

“Of course.”

“How are we going to be together? If you don’t mind me asking. But I am not from this realm.” contemporary romance

“The Pope of Bifjorkian Theocracy is my father and he has the Magical Portal key in his possession. If you and I get along, I can ask my father to let me use the Magical Portal Key so you can come to this realm and be with me forever. By living in this realm permanently, it will also free you from being conjured by Kain Bersk as well. Even though I'm not a magic caster, but I have learned everything about Conjuration Magic including all other Elemental Magic.”

A human wanted to use a Magical Portal Key to free her from Kain Bersk’s Conjuration Magic, Lazela was overwhelmed with such an offer. Ever since she was defeated by Kain and became one of his conjurable creatures, Lazela had never thought she would see the day of freedom anymore. Even though Kain was the first Conjurer Mage to ever defeat her using his astral form, Lazela had never been mad or angry at Kain. But when another human offered to free her, that was an opportunity Lazela didn’t want to pass on. Despite that, Lazela wasn’t the type of person that will betray Kain for empty promises.
