Their Mate, My Saviors Chapter 87
-POV Charlie-
Damn, damn, damn. I should be there. I should be protecting my Luna! I gripped hold of the steering wheel tighter while the order from my alphas rang in my mind over and over again. "Keep on your course, Charlie. Trust me, we can handle this." My muscles tensed when I felt the inner turmoil of my Luna. The one Vince and I are supposed to protect with our lives and I'm over here living on cloud nine.
As badly as they want me to be...as I want to be...I'm not oblivious.
I know they want me to be happy. Well...more specifically, Luna Ayame wants me to be happy, but I can't just pretend my duties are null and void because I have a mate now. "A yummy delicious perfect mate." My wolf hummed happily.
I felt my grip on the steering wheel tighten as we passed the territory's boarder. "Charlie." Zelena called at barely a whisper.
I glanced at her before turning onto the main highway back to the states. "Yes, kitten?"
She sighed and turned her eyes to bore into the side of my face. "Turn around, Charlie."
My foot faltered off the break for only a second before I started to accelerate down the road. "No." I growled shortly.
"Why not?!" She shouted. "I know you didn't want to leave. I can tell something is bothering you. Please...we can go back at a later time. I will not come between you and your pack duties. That is wrong."
I slipped out of traffic and drove onto the side of the road. I didn't say a word until the car came to a stop. I slammed it in park, and she flinched. "Zelena, we need to get back to your home. If we don't, Raven is going to think we lied to her. We promised we would pick her up on Monday morning. I keep my promises."
"You know that's easily avoidable." She countered. "She stays at my mother's house longer than she's supposed to all the time, Charlie. She won't care or even notice."
I shook my head. "I will. Besides, the alphas told me to stay on my course and I need to let them handle this. Thankfully, Vince is still there and she has everyone else too. I'm going to trust their judgement."
"Wait, there is something wrong with the Luna?! Oh Goddess! That's what's troubling you?! She is going to be so mad that I took her from you." She let her head fall into her hands and I gently pulled them away.
I kissed her knuckles softly and looked her straight in the eye. "The Luna is not that cruel, kitten. I already know she thinks of you as a friend and she is so happy for us. I've been looking for my second chance so long I didn't think it was possible, but when I met you...I was given the opportunity to breathe again. I won't mess that up. Not even for my alphas or my luna. You are my number one priority, Zelena. You and that little one, waiting for us to come home. And, like I said, they are okay with this. The sooner we get back to Boston, the faster my two favorite girls can move in with me here."
"Move in?" She whispered and I chuckled.
"Yes, and I'm sure you would prefer to do that before school starts and the snow starts to come down again. We only get a few months of green up here and it's about to end if my calculations are correct." I added.
She nodded slowly and tried to digest it all. "Yeah...I guess that is the next step, but I'll still get to see my family, right? I don't think we will be able to get the coven up north that fast."
I tilted her chin softly and kissed her lips. I wanted to keep it short, but of course, my wolf was craving more. Our lips pressed closer together as if we wanted to close any inkling of space between the two of us. Once we came back up for air, I tucked some of her locks behind her ear. "Let's see if we can get them to come with us. I'm sure the alphas won't mind, and it would be great protection for them as well as us. Bodhi Cora is no longer a myth to you and you all should be able to reap the benefits. If not, we will make it a point to visit often and welcome them to visit us at any time."
Her smile grew and she giggled lightly. "I'm all for it! Let's go!" She pointed toward the road and I kissed her cheek before throwing the car back in gear and driving off to see our pup. "Mr.Charlie!!" A squealing toddler shouted.
"No teleporting outside, Raven!"
Not a second after the door closed to my sedan, Raven appeared in my arms and I seamlessly caught her while she laughed hysterically.
I looked up from the child's happy face to see Zelena's mother running down the porch steps beyond out of breath. "Oh, thank the Goddess. She really can teleport quite the distance."
Zelena smiled at her mother, catching her breath as she walked towards us. "Well, luckily, Charlie has gotten used to catching her. She will just apperate in thin air and expect him to catch her." She rolled those tantalizing eyes of yours and I got a right yank on my ear from the little pup I'd been ignoring.
"Mr.Charlie!" She whined and I picked her up and tossed her in the air before catching her and snuggling her small form in my chest. She squealed excitedly and nuzzled in. "Sorry, pup. I'm so glad to see you. How were you with grandma?" I asked.
She started to say something, and grandma cut her off. "Oh! That little wiccan is going to be quite the witch one day!" She said with an undertone of 'yeah...she was quite the handful.
I nodded and walked up to the ladies and headed inside behind them. Once we made it through the door, I tried to put Raven down and let's just say, she held on for dear life. I smirked and decided to just let her stay in my arms if that's where she wanted to be. "Oh.... It looks like she has really formed an attachment with you." Agatha said with a caring grin while Raven started to doze off.
"I think that goes both ways. I know I want to protect Zelena and be there for my mate, but upon contrary belief, my mate is with child. Therefore, her child, whether it is mine or not, is my child." I answered confidently.
Agatha raised a brow and rested her hand on the counter. It looked like they were baking something before we headed in. I'm sure her and Ayame will create some delicious dishes very soon. "I'm really happy to hear that...honestly."
"Yeah...it's only been a week and I think this girl likes him more than me." Zelena added with a chuckle. I thought about it for a moment and she gasped before playfully slapping my arm. "Hey!" She giggled lightly and I laughed along with her.
"Either way, I think you two are the perfect pair and I'm so thankful that the moon goddess gave you this second chance, my beautiful daughter and, hopefully, my handsome son too." Agatha added.
Zelena and I looked at each other and we grinned. "Soon." We whispered together.
Raven wiggled slightly in my arms and stretched her tiny body. "Does that mean you'll be my daddy too?" She whimpered, half asleep.
I went rigid and looked between Agatha and Zelena. "Say yes stupid!" My wolf howled. "Our pup wants us!"
I'm glad he's happy, but Zelena and I never talked about this. I don't want to overstep. I looked down at my kitten wishing I could mind link her right now, but the smile on her face said exactly what I wanted to hear, but then it faltered. "We...we will have to ask him first." She said hesitantly.
Sh*t. I took too long to respond. I cleared my throat and gently placed Raven on the counter in front of me. I got down to her eye level and kept my arms next to her just in case she decided to jump off. The tears were coming and I rubbed them away quickly. "I would be honored to be your daddy Raven for as long as you want me to be. I will always protect you and your momma. I promise." I said, looking her straight in the eye.
Her lip quivered and my pup's eyes widened. "You promise? Forever?" She whispered.
I tapped her nose lightly and she smiled from ear to ear. "I promise." She wrapped her arms around my neck and held on tightly. I scooped her off the counter and she started bawling.
"I have a daddy now!" She screamed, and at that, my heart melted.
