The Otherside: Jay McClayn: This Is High School (Book 1)

Chapter 15

When I walked through the door with Jason and Alex, Harrison had a grin on his face. “It looks like you manage to shift into an actual tiger this time.” He then looked at Jason and Alex. “Jamie, Jason, you two need to go up stairs, shift back and get dressed.” I walked up stairs with Jason everyone was so quiet. Jason went to the guest bedroom and shut the door and I went to my room and shut the door. I cleared my head and shifted back. I then rushed to my closet and put on some clothes. When I was done I ran out the door trying to get down there before Jason did, but while doing so I crashed right into him. He caught me before I fell.

“I-I I’m sorry Jason.” I was blushing.

“Why did you start dating him? Be honest with me.” I sighed.

“Well.. I missed you. I hoped it would make you come back if I hung around him enough and made you jealous.” I admitted softly and pathetically.

“Do you love him?” He asked with no emotion.

“No, but I care about him.” I said as I slowly reached up and touched his cheek. He pulled me in and hugged me.

“We will talk about this more later.” We began to walk down the stairs.

“Harrison, I’m moving back in. She is in just as much danger without me as she is with me.” Jason said once we where insight of them.

“I told you, you were welcome back at anytime.” Harrison replied.

“I know, I just wanted the bloodsucker to hear.” I thumped Jason on the nose.

“Calm yourself.” I said sternly.

“Now, what we need to talk about is where do we go from here. Jamie do you want to stay a vampire or not?” Harrison said when we got down the stairs and in the living room.

“She needs to change back. Why do we even need to ask?” Jason butted in.

Alex quickly got in his face. “That is her choice not yours, besides she is safer this way. People out to get her are not expecting her to be a vampire. It hides her better.”

They continued to go back and forth right and front of me. “She needs to change back!” Jason yelled.

“She needs to stay the same!” Alex yelled back.

They continued to get louder and louder. I shut my eyes and fell to my knees. “SHUT UP THE BOTH OF YOU!!!!” I yelled. I curled up in a ball. “Just leave me alone!!!!!” I yelled at the top of my lungs. Next thing I knew I was in a black room. “Where am I?” I paused. “I’m alone!” I laughed. I stopped to think about it all and pulled myself together. I am Queen Jamie Ally Hart and I know what I must do to save my kingdom.

When I thought everything through I got up. “How do I get out of here?” I began to walk forward. When that happened I saw a light, I walked toward it and I woke up in my room alone. I quickly grabbed my phone. It was 7 A.M. I guess I was out for a while I got up and got ready for school. I went downstairs into the kitchen afterwards to get something to eat and saw Harrison leaning on the counter drinking coffee.

“Where is Jason?” I found it odd that he wasn’t down here yet.

“He left.” Harrison said short and sweet. He took another sip.

“What do you mean he left?” I paused to think. “He left to get the things to change me back didn’t he?” Harrison took another sip ignoring my questions. “Does he not realize I need to stay this way till I at least get my memory back?” Harrison put down the coffee on the counter.

“You don’t need to be a vampire till then. In this state you are just as much in danger as you were in previously. You can get into serious trouble, like Alex, if you let your thirst get the best of you.”

I pouted and ignored him. “I can handle my thirst, I will not drink anymore blood.” I said a little angered.

“You will feel like you are dying if you don’t drink any blood.” He said like he was about to burst out laughing.

“Then I will only drink animal blood.”

He started bursting out laughing. “Do you know how many rabbits and birds you would have to kill? There aren’t any bigger animals nearby.” He walked to the fridge and opened up the refrigerator and pulled out a packet of blood. “Why don’t you go to the blood bank like a normal vampire?”

I grabbed the blood packet from him. “There are bigger animals around. I’ve seen them...”

Harrison cut me off. “Stealing livestock and pets is a crime.” I got angry by his words and I’m guessing my eyes were glowing red because Harrison backed off.

“I’ve seen foxes, and many other bigger animals. You obviously haven’t been looking.” I bit into the blood packet with my teeth and drank it all. I calmed down a little after drinking. “I don’t want to change back just yet. I really feel that I’m more protected this way.”

Harrison took the empty packet from my hand. “For now, and what about that I won’t drink human blood?” He put it in my face to read the label and then threw it away.

“Stop being such a jerk! You’re so... Grrr... infuriating.” I stormed off and grabbed my bag and slammed the front door behind me.
