The Otherside: Alice: Tough Decisions (Book 6)

Chapter 19

Once I got home, I went straight to my room to read the letter Loveless wrote to me. “Why me?” was the question I was thinking until I got to my room that afternoon. I sat down on my bed after slumping my backpack down by the door. I opened the letter and read it:

Dear Alice,

I know you are wondering why I wrote this letter to you before I died. It’s because you are important. You are a strong woman from the Hart family line and that means a great deal. I had a vision that your mother would fall to the curse and that you would be the one to stop her, but as I know, visions I have about your family don’t always stick. Your mother being the greatest offender of changing the future. I hated it, but at the same time began to rely on it. You are very much like your mother, but I also feel you are different enough to be saved from the demon within. You have great potential and I am not just saying that because of my premonitions. Since the first and last time I laid eyes on you, I felt that you were the one that was going to save the Otherside from the mess that it is in. From the prophesy, you are going to be the one to change the Otherside, not your brother. I hope you take these words to heart, and I hope when the time comes that you take the action that is necessary to save the Otherside.

Love From Your Aunt,

Loveless

PS: If my boys tell you they can see your true future, don’t believe them. They are lying, but they just want what is best for you.”

I was a little shocked by the letter. She is saying there is a possibility that my mom could beat her demon, but at the same time she is making it sound really real that she could want me dead. I sighed as I fell backwards onto the bed and put the letter on the bed next to me.

“What am I going to do?” I muttered to myself.

“Well, gracing us with your presence at the dinner table might be a good start.”

I quickly sat up to see Aaron at the doorway. “Oh, uh, I’ll be down in a minute.”

“Alice, I know a lot of pressure has been put on you lately, part of that is my fault and I am sorry. You just have to remember it is your choice, and you still have time to choose. You are the maker of your own future.”

I picked up the letter and sighed. “Did Loveless give you a letter too, or did someone let you read mine?” I asked jokingly.

He looked at me confused. “But Loveless is dead.”

I shook my head. “Don’t worry about it. Your words reminded me of the letter.” I said as I folded the letter back up and placed it on my desk. “Let’s go to dinner.” I walked over to him and we went to dinner.

After dinner of course I went back to my room and sat there wondering how I was going to tell Trey about my feelings. That and debated a little bit on what to do with my life, but the main focus was on Trey.
