Chapter 143
Chapter 143
“Wait! You guys slow down!” Kate called.
Now, she fully understood why the pack was named the Wind Walker Pack because the damn warriors ran like the wind! She
called Sebastian, asking, “Back at the South Moon Pack, were you holding out on me, Sebastian?”
Sadly for her, Sebastian did not answer. Zev, who was behind the alpha, slowed down for Kate. He answered for the alpha, “Yes,
he did, Luna. And we only brought newly trained warriors to conquer Xander’s pack.”
Before Kate could react, Zev’s reddish–brown wolf speedily ran toward Sebastian. Kate planned to see Sebastian’s face when
he would shift into his human form, but now she knew that would never happen, considering how fast he was. She could catch
up with him if she had her normal speed. However, she was still bound by the seal that Glinda made for her.
When Kate arrived at the affected residential area, her heart ached. Rows of houses were on fire, and the pack members,
especially women and children, were crying at the loss of their homes.
Kate rushed to pull everyone back, saying, “It’s okay. We will rebuild your homes. Please move away from the fire.”
“Move back, everyone! Move back!” the other warriors urged.
Zev, in particular, ordered his men, “Bring them the shelter! We can’t risk any of them rushing back into the fire.”
“Kate! Take the boy!” Sebastian’s voice caught her attention. She snapped her head behind her and saw Sebastian carrying a
boy burned on the leg. The poor thing was crying.
Sebastian, on the other hand, was already in his human form, wearing his mask. Of course, Kate no longer cared about seeing
his face. The victims needed more attention.
As soon as Kate scooped the crying boy in her arms, a woman exited the residential district, screaming, “My daughter is still
inside! Someone help! I could not get through to her! Alpha, help me! Save Anita!”
“I will get Anita, Esther,” Sebastian offered.
“She is on the second floor, Alpha! Please, I beg you, save her!” The lady named. Esther pleaded, and Sebastian disappeared
into the rows of houses still on fire. In the next few minutes, Kate was helping put out the fire. She held water hoses. that poured
water into the homes. Sometimes, she would carry victims out of their homes and onto safe grounds.
Ten minutes had passed, and only then did she realize that Sebastian had not. returned. Her eyes panned from Zev to the
community. While panting, Kate

She grabbed one fire blanket from the supplies and ran toward Esther’s home. It took her another two minutes to find Sebastian.
She looked up at the house and understood his dilemma.
The target house was blocked by three other structures that were falling apart, and it looked like Sebastian had to save a few
people before finding Esther’s home. Kate saw Sebastian attempt to break into one house. He bravely entered but soon
retreated, groaning and holding his mask.
“The mask!” Kate said. “It’s a heat conductor! You need to take it off!”
Her suggestion was met with a loud growl, with Sebastian covering his face again. He said, “What are you doing here? Go back!”
“Since you care so much about your mask, why don’t I save the girl!” Kate said. while covering herself with the fire blanket. She
entered the house but found debris falling above her. “Ahhh!”
Kate wound up exiting again, unable to handle the weight of the debris. She understood now that Sebastian was the man for the
job; given his size and strength, he could easily free himself from the falling rubble.
Sebastian was already soaked in water. He growled before pulling the fire blanket. He said, “Give me that.”
He covered himself and rushed in.
Kate was still panting from her attempt to get through the house when a bronze mask suddenly flew in her direction! Her eyes
rounded as soon as she caught Sebastian’s mask.
Her heart skipped a beat, seeing something valuable to him in her hands. When she looked up, Sebastian was already gone.
Kate paced in that spot back and forth for minutes. Behind her, she could see how the warriors had put out most of the fire at the
front, and now they were heading her way.
She was taking deep breaths, staring at the efficient job of the warriors, when she suddenly felt a man’s broad chest touch her
bare back! For a fleeting moment, that skin contact ignited electricity to run down her b*dy. A little girl’s frame was placed on her
chest, and Kate held the crying pup in with one arm.
Kate knew it was Sebastian. His unique scent engulfed her as he held her firmly in place. Sebastian held her so tightly that she
could not move.
“Take her to safety,” Sebastian said in his husky voice.
His other hand gradually let go of the child, and Kate could tell his next move was to snatch his mask from her right hand. The
thought of it made her heart go wild. What she did not expect was for Sebastian to push her lightly away from him as he grabbed
the mask. Because Kate was holding the little girl, it took her a few

seconds to turn around and watch Sebastian cover his face.
Sadly, she did not see his entire face, but she was proud of the fact that she caught sight of his slightly cleft chin.
“What are you still standing there for? Take the pup to the shelter!” Sebastian ordered.
Kate nodded. She pursed her l*ps and said, “Good job out there.”
“It’s my job to protect my people. That is what being an alpha is all about,” he said plainly before directing his warriors.
Again, that disaster slightly changed Kate’s perspective of Sebastian. He was selfless, and the way the people asked for his help
made Kate realize that the pack members saw him as someone they could trust and lean on.
In the past, the rumors about his viciousness clouded her judgment that she never gave him a chance, but she could see clearly
now: Sebastian was not the evil person many of the people spoke about.
It was already four in the morning when all the fire was out. Kate had been busy giving change of clothes and porridge to the
affected pack members.
Kate was already clothed in a gym suit Cassandra had given her. She had just handed Esther and her daughter two bowls of the
porridge when the lady asked, “Are you
the one they said would be our luna?”
Kate frozed. She did not know why, but her cheeks burned. She faintly replied, “Yes, I will be, soon.”
“You are not the kind that would leave our alpha, right?” Esther asked. “Because the first one disappeared out of nowhere, and
the other one was assumed to have
run away.
Esther sighed and said, “Our alpha can be scary, but he is a good person beneath his mask.
Kate stilled. She found herself looking past Esther and gazing at Sebastian, who was offering his shoulder to an injured pack
member. She smiled in Sebastian’s
and replied to Esther, “I can see that. Thank you, Esther.”

Kate only had a few hours of sleep, but she had to. Sebastian ordered her to rest because that afternoon, they were leaving for
the capital to rest in the alpha king’s palace. Her parents would arrive the next day, and she needed to prepare for their meeting.
However, as she slept, the image of nearly catching Sebastian’s face replayed in her head. In the end, Kate formed dark bags
under her eyes, restless at the thought of Sebastian.
When she awoke, she grabbed a pen and paper and drew what she could remember of the man. She drew his beautiful eyes in
black and white and that slightly cleft chin. The man had no face whatsoever, but he had those eyes that

could pull anyone in.
Is this the eyes of an ugly, scarred man?” Kate kept staring at her drawing for seconds, biting her l*p. She inwardly thought, Little
by little, I will complete the puzzle.
“Is that me?” A man’s deep voice echoed in the room.
“Oh, my Goddess!” Kate wound up turning abruptly with the drawing against her chest. Her heart pounded violently against her
ribcage. ‘f**k.’
The man standing before her was no other than Sebastian Armstrong.
