Chapter 663 It Is A Long Story
It was just a casual get together between two friends, so Charles didn't expect that there would be paparazzi taking pictures of them together. He had no intentions of having an affair with Brandy, but the gossip came out like this.
Since he drank too much, it was dangerous for him to drive. Besides, it was already too late, and he would disturb Nancy and the children if he went home.
Therefore, Charles decided to stay in the bar, and Brandy didn't leave as well.
Although she was also drunk, her mind was clearer than Charles'. Seeing that he was so drunk, Brandy took him to the lounge.
With a slight frown on his face, Charles moved his thin lips and slowly uttered a name, "Nancy."
Hearing this made Brandy smile. Calling out Nancy's name while he was drunk just proved how much he loved her. Even if the world was blurry, it was clear to him that Nancy was the woman he loved.
Knowing Charles, he was so proud and mighty that no woman dared to approach him. If anyone dared, she would be greatly embarrassed for the rest of her life. It turned out that love could easily change a person.
In front of someone a person loved most, everyone could only be humble.
It was the same for Charles.
As she stared at him, Brandy stretched Charles' lips using her fingers. "Charles, you shouldn't live in such misery. You are my king, everyone's king. Humbleness doesn't suit you. Can you get back your arrogance?"
As expected, Charles didn't respond because he had already fallen asleep.
Brandy knew Charles too well. He hated women who forced their selves to him, so she returned to the sofa and lay down there as she quietly listened to Charles' breath until she fell asleep. When she woke up the next morning, she found Charles still sleeping in the lounge.
It was as if he was in a deep sleep so she decided to buy breakfast first. When she came back, she stood in front of him and woke him up.
"Charles, wake up. I bought some breakfast. Get up and have some."
Slowly, Charles opened his eyes.
But as soon as he saw Brandy, he straightened his back in shock. "Why are you here?"
"What's wrong with your memory, Charles? Don't you remember that you invited me out for a drink last night? We got drunk so we weren't able to go home. We just slept here." "Slept here?" While saying this, Charles rubbed his clothes up and down. When he realized that his clothes were all on, his tense expression was relieved. "Okay."
"Well, stop it. Nothing happened between us. You're not that kind of man, and I'm not an easy woman, right?" A smile appeared on Brandy's face. "Get up now and eat."
As soon as he got out of bed, Charles made a few stretches to relieve the stiffness of his muscles. 'Tm afraid of making mistakes. Fortunately, nothing happened."
For a moment, Brandy paused. Then she asked tentatively, "What if something happened?"
It was all she asked, but Charles was immediately irritated. "Brandy, I really don't have feelings for you..."
Looking at the obvious worry on his face, Brandy was a little disappointed.
"Don't be nervous. I was just kidding. Nothing happened between us."
Upon confirming this, Charles breathed out a sigh of relief. "That's good, that's good."
Then he walked out of the lounge first, only to find women's things scattered on the sofa.
There were clothes, shawl, handbag, and so on.
"Did you sleep on the sofa last night?"
"Yes, now you can rest assured, right? We didn't sleep in the same place, so nothing happened, but..." There was a hint of hesitation in her voice, which made Charles nervous again.
"But what?"
Unable to look straight into his eyes, Brandy replied to him in almost a whisper, "The paparazzi took pictures of us while we were drinking together last night."
"How could it be?" They just went out for a drink as old classmates, but the paparazzi took it as an opportunity to stir up trouble. This made Charles beyond upset!
"Yes, you can check your phone." While she was speaking, Brandy began sorting her clothes. She put on her down jacket and her shawl.
"I just came here to work in the hospital. I don't want to make any trouble for the two of us. If there's nothing important for us to talk about, we shouldn't keep in touch, in order to avoid Nancy having blind conjectures. " Preparing to leave, Brandy grabbed her bag. "Don't forget to eat your breakfast; or else, you'll have a stomachache." "What about you? Don't you want to eat something?" It was a long time ago when Charles had a stomachache at school.
So he was surprised that Brandy still remembered it.
"We just had a drink together last night and were photographed secretly by the paparazzi. If we stay here to have breakfast together, the paparazzi might make a big deal out of it again. So, for our own good, I better go first." Then she flashed a small smile. "It's not as if I'm going to be hungry. I heard that the food in the hospital cafeteria is good, so I'll go there to have breakfast. Oh, by the way, I'll explain what happened last night to Nancy for you. Don't worry. I'm leaving."
"Thank you." No matter what, Brandy did it out of kindness for him and Nancy. So, Charles was very grateful to Brandy.
"You're welcome. I really don't want to cause any misunderstanding between you and Nancy." Soon enough, Charles was left alone in the bar.
Despite what happened, he thought there shouldn't be any misunderstanding between him and Nancy.
If there was, then it was because Nancy had provoked him.
As soon as he was done eating breakfast, Charles drove straight to the company.
On this day, Nancy was as calm as if nothing had happened.
She didn't call Charles to question him.
At first, Charles was really disappointed. But then he remembered that Brandy said she would explain everything to Nancy, so he thought that maybe she had completely forgiven him even if she saw the photo of him and Brandy. He thought there was no misunderstanding between them.
On a second thought, maybe Nancy just didn't love him anymore just as she had said. That must be the reason why she didn't care whoever woman he was with at all.
These thoughts clouded Charles' mind. He had no idea that Nancy was thinking about how to ask him for help.
At this time, Charles' phone rang abruptly.
Thinking it was a call from Nancy, he was eager to take out his phone.
But when he saw the unknown number on the screen, Charles asked impatiently, "Who is this?"
To his surprise, Jay's miserable voice came from the other line.
"Charles, come and save me!"
"Jay? Where are you? Whose phone are you using to call me?"
"I'm using the police's phone. I... I am in."
When he heard the word "police", Charles was stunned. "You are in what? Where are you now?"
"Police station."
With furrowed brows, he asked, "What did you do?"
"Oh, it's a long story. Come here quickly. I'll tell you everything later." It could be told from the tone of his voice how hopeless Jay was as of the moment.
"Did you find another woman?" Except for finding a woman, there was nothing else that the police wanted to investigate about Jay.
"Charles, I have Ace now. How can I be like before? Don't make such a conclusion. I'll tell you about it later." "Okay, wait for me. I'll be there soon." Obviously, Jay was in a bad state, so Charles drove to the police station in a hurry.
The police were all amazed when he really came. "Mr. Fu, you're here." They all stood up and greeted Charles respectfully.
"What's did he do?" Charles pointed at Jay with his chin.
"Well, I don't think you will believe it. The police brought Mr. Fang here because he climbed over the wall to steal things." The policeman was embarrassed as he explained the situation in front of the most powerful man in the city.
