Chapter 661 I Can't Run Anymore
Doris wanted to run as fast as she could, but her legs were too sore and painful.
"Jay!" Perhaps it was because she was too anxious that Doris finally shouted out.
"Mrs. Fang, Ace is awake. Why are you sleeping here?" The nanny came over and gently shook Doris' shoulder.
All of a sudden, Doris woke up from her dream, catching her breath. She turned her head at the window and found that it was already dawn.
"Is Jay back?" The first thing she thought of asking was of course, if her husband had come home. However, she didn't get the answer that she wanted.
"Is Mr. Fang out? I don't know." Last night, when Jay went to his room to change his clothes, the nanny went to the baby's room. When the nanny coaxed Ace to sleep, she also fell asleep.
Out of courtesy, Jay had specially arranged a lounge in the nursery room for the nanny so she could rest too when the baby was asleep.
Therefore, the nanny just woke up and didn't know that Jay was not at home.
Feeling helpless, Doris only sighed. "Go and look after Ace. Don't forget to feed him. I have something to do today."
Since she wasn't sure yet whether Jay was dead or alive, she still couldn't say anything to the nanny.
The nanny bowed to her and left without a word.
Doris' legs were too numb for her to move. She tried to, and it felt as if there were ten thousand ants biting her legs.
No wonder her legs were so uncomfortable in her dream just now.
Even so, Doris stood up and limped to the bedroom because she wanted to call Hanson, and then Charles and Nancy to tell them what had happened to Jay.
Before she could dial Hanson's number, a phone call came in. So she answered it in a hurry.
"Hello, is this Ms. Doris He?"
"Yes, I am." Hearing the serious voice from the other line, Doris suddenly felt so nervous that she held her phone tightly. She was afraid of hearing news about people finding Jay's dead body. Her heart was pounding as if it was about to jump out. Beads of sweat began to form on her forehead as she waited for what the person was about to say.
"Well, okay. Please come here to the police station to take the person back. By the way, don't forget to pay a fine of thirty thousand dollars." It was then that she realized that she was speaking to a police officer.
Therefore, Doris' curiosity had been ignited. "Who is it?"
"It's Jay. He said you are his wife, aren't you? If not, then we might have called the wrong number," the policeman said.
To say she was shocked was an understatement. All this time, Jay was in the police station?
"Yes, yes, I am his wife. What did my husband do?" There were mixed emotions in her heart, and it was hard to tell whether she was happy or sad. But one thing was for sure; joy overpowered sorrow. No matter what kind of crime Jay had done, the most important thing was that he was alive.
"It's difficult to explain it through a phone call. You'd better come here with the fine." As soon as he finished his words, the policeman hung up the phone.
Regardless of the numbness she was feeling on her legs, Doris drove to the police station in a hurry.
The moment she saw Jay, Doris covered her mouth in surprise. His clothes were just wet yesterday, but today, they were torn apart as if they were bitten by some animals. Jay was sitting dejectedly, like a kid waiting for his mom, but when he heard Doris' footsteps, he quickly lowered his head.
Although her voice was trembling, Doris still asked, "Excuse me, what did he do?"
"Climbed over the wall to steal! He is fined because he broke a garden pavilion. As for his thievery, he has to be held criminally responsible. He will be sentenced."
"Ah, sentence?" Hearing this word made her eyes widened in shock. "Jay, what else do you need that you can't find in our house? Why do you have to steal things from other people's house in the middle of the night instead of sleeping at home? I didn't know that you have this ability."
"No, I didn't," said Jay in a low voice.
"You still don't want to admit it! Tell me, whose house did you go to and what did you steal?" The more Jay kept silent, the more Doris' fury flared up. There seemed to be something wrong with Jay's brain. He was tainted with the vice of stealing.
If it weren't for the police, she wouldn't have believed that the son of Fang family would steal.
What kind of things couldn't be bought with money? Was Fang family short of money?
It would have been the biggest joke in the world! But what was Jay doing?
This was really confusing for Doris. She couldn't figure out why the son of the Fang Family suddenly began stealing. Or was this Jay's hobby which she just found out?
"I didn't steal anything." Without looking at her, Jay continued to sulk at one corner.
"Then why did you go to other people's house? Oh, stealing a woman, right? You don't lack money, but women, right? Oh, my God! What am I? Look at me with your eyes wide open, Jay. Am I not a woman? I have the same thing as other women. Which woman on earth did you fall in love with that made you climb over the wall at midnight instead of going back home?" Out of anger, Doris kept talking and talking until she was out of breath. She felt disappointed. What was going on now? Did she marry a husband or was she raising another son? Why did Jay always make her worried?
When he heard this, Jay finally looked at Doris who was beating her chest like a mad woman. "1 stole a woman? Are you out of your mind? Do I need to steal a woman if I like her? They all come to me voluntarily. I... Humph!"
"Then tell me, what did you steal?" At this moment, Doris wished she could pluck Jay's hair and beat him up.
The anxiety he was giving her was too much that she wanted to skin him alive just so he could give her the truth. "I said I didn't steal anything!"
All the questions seemed to come back to the starting point. It was driving her crazy! She could not ask anything more.
"Well, you don't want to tell me, do you? Forget it. I won't ask anymore. Anyway, if you didn't do anything wrong, the police wouldn't arrest you. Just stay here and let them lock you up so that I wouldn't have to worry whether you jump into the river to commit suicide or not. Sir, I have brought the money. Here you go. I will pay the penalty. I will pay everything I should pay. As for him..." Glaring at Jay, she continued, "I have no objection to him being sentenced."
"Hey, Doris, why are you so cold-blooded? Your husband is wronged. I didn't steal a woman. How many times should I say that you should believe in me at all times?" Seeing that Doris didn't care about him anymore, Jay got anxious.
"Then tell me, why did you climb over the wall? Didn't they have a gate? If you don't have an affair, why didn't you use the gate?" For the last time, Doris would hope to get the answer again. However, Jay's angry reply only embarrassed her. "They didn't allow me to enter their house, so I was forced to climb the wall."
Everyone present was amused by what Jay said.
Doris was so embarrassed that she hoped that the ground would swallow her.
Trying her best to hold back her anger, Doris scolded in a low voice, "Jay, can't you just stay at home? What good things do they have that made you have to go?"
"No, no, no. I can't get over it." Once again, Jay was in low spirits as he remembered Eva.
