Shattered Illusions: Love, Lies, and Redemption ( Lizetta )

Chapter 842

The words Stella had said in the garage echoed in Lizetta's ears once again. At the time, Lizetta hadn't believed her, but now, she was starting to have doubts. Still, even if Stella and Remington were indeed having a secret affair, it was none of her business! Lizetta thought to herself that she was just worried Remington might be swayed by Stella's charm and, even if it turned out that Daisy's death was connected to Stella, he would protect her. It wasn't because she still loved him and couldn't stand the thought of him being with another woman. "What's wrong?" Remington was quick to notice the fluctuation in Lizetta's mood. He leaned in slightly, asking with a hint of concern.

Lizetta forced a smile, "Nothing." But as she tried to play it cool, Remington's handsome face darkened in an instant. He had noticed her troubled expression and followed her gaze to his chest. And there it was, a stain on his shirt.

It must have been when Stella had fallen, and he thought Lizetta was reaching out to catch her, leading Stella to deliberately smear something on him. He thought Lizetta would surely ask about it, but when he asked her what was wrong, she acted as if she hadn't seen the stain and laughed it off. Did she really not care? Was she not jealous at all?

Remington thought back to what Stella had said earlier, about how Lizetta would be glad if he slept with another woman so she wouldn't have to deal with him anymore. Feeling a tightness in his chest, Remington's voice was tense as he looked at Lizetta, unwilling to let it go. "Is there really nothing you want to ask me?"

Lizetta glanced out the car window, then turned back to him and nodded. "Of course, there is." She hadn't forgotten that her dinner with Remington tonight was to ask about Daisy.

Upon hearing her say that, a spark of hope lit up in Remington's eyes. He even adjusted his posture to face

anticipation, almost imagining, Lizetta getting furious with jealousy, maybe even grabbing his tie and demanding to know where the lipstick mark came from.

But Lizetta bit her lip, her eyes suddenly filled with sadness. Before

she could even speak, her eyes began to water. Remington, however, was completely taken aback He had wanted her to show jealousy, to prove she still cared for him. But seeing her genuinely upset, his heart ached unbearably. Panic-stricken, he quickly grasped her neck, speaking hastily before she could say anything. "Please don't get the wrong idea, and don't overthink it. There's nothing going on between Stella and me. The cufflink you gave me was

knowing Stella had foundPit. Just

now in the parking lot, she suddenly rushed out and fell towards me. I thought it was you waiting for me there, so I reached out to catch her, and that's how the stain got there. That's the truth, Liz, you have to believe me."

Lizetta was taken aback; she hadn't intended to ask about any of that. His sudden rush of explanations made it seem as if she was deeply concerned, and it also felt like her hidden worries had been exposed and magnified. Her ears turned red, a mix of embarrassment and irritation.

But before she could protest, Remington pulled her into a tight embrace. His low, chuckling voice warmed her ear. "Baby, I only want to be with you, and I only accept being with you."
