Chapter 646
It had been ten minutes since I sent the voice messages. Even until we were done with breakfast, we didn't hear from Jasmine again. I could only imagine the expectant look on her face as she clicked on those three messages and the disappointment she felt when she heard my voice.
I admitted that I said those words out of spite. I wanted to hurt her. It wasn't my fault. She had it coming for devising various ways to destroy my relationship. She knew Colin was taken yet she tried to take him away from me. It was only natural that I wanted to give her some payback.
Everyone moved on from this unsavory event in the morning very quickly. I was an easygoing person and tended to forget whatever unhappy moments I experienced. As I discussed arts with the students, I promptly forgot about Jasmine's invitation to Colin for her birthday celebration.
In the afternoon, I left the teaching faculty after I carried out the lecture Professor King told me to. Then, I saw the workaholic, Colin, standing under a tree and gazing at me affectionately. The sun was glaring, but it wasn't warm. The young tree looked extra small next to his towering frame.
He stood casually with a gentle smirk. As he peered at me from among the crowd, I felt affection oozing from his side. Thanks to the forum and Confession Wall, my relationship with Colin had become a public secret.
The young students exclaimed their admiration as they saw the handsome Colin staring at me, who was standing on the staircase. A short-haired, familiar-looking woman grabbed my arm and dragged me down the staircase. Then, she shoved me toward Colin.
I was wearing high heels. After the woman shoved me, I lost my balance. Colin quickly extended his arms to catch me in front of everyone. Before I knew what was happening, I found myself caged within his embrace. His pinewood scent invaded my nostrils, making my heart race.
I quickly detached myself and stood upright. I looked up and met his eyes which were laced with mockery. As usual, his eyes were starry.
"Are you done hugging me? Everyone is watching." He gazed at me with a smile and tucked a lock of hair behind my ears.
A commotion broke out behind me. A mischievous male student even whistled with his fingers. Several women cheered out loud. I wondered what they were talking about. Colin steadied me while I was too embarrassed to address the public.
"Be nice, guys. Go along. Don't disturb my moment with my girlfriend."
Sheesh. Wasn't he a lecturer? He should be more subtle. He shouldn't be this frank. He ought to set up a good example for them.
Colin was a handsome and knowledgeable lecturer. While he only started working at Jesselton College recently, he quickly made a name for himself and was well-loved by his students. After he finished the sentence, his students, who looked up to him greatly, dispersed.
"Why are you here?" I asked Colin.
He held my hands, and we walked together on the vast campus like a normal varsity couple.
