Chapter 1213
Chapter 1213
Just then, Mason arrived and hit the man’s wrist with the rod, knocking the knife out of his grasp
The man retaliated, engaging Mason in a scuffle. Although the man was shorter than Mason, he was still bulky, and his
movements were calculated, like he’d been trained.
Before long, they were wrestling on the ground, with the man choking Mason and snarling. “T’ll kill you for helping her file for
divorce!”
Mason’s face turned red from a lack of oxygen. His veins were pulsating, but he managed to keep the man’s head locked with
his elbow. He croaked at
Celeste, “Go”
Celeste’s hands were shaking, and Trisha looked pale. They were clearly terrified by the battle.
After realizing that he couldn’t break free, the man reached for the kitchen knife on the ground.
As his fingers got closer to the knife, Mason’s face became ashen.
Suddenly, a canister hit the man’s head. He staggered momentarily, and before he could even see who had hit him, he fell
unconscious.
The hand that had been choking Mason finally let go He looked up to see Celeste by his side, her hand still trembling.
Trisha quickly kicked the kitchen knife away and asked, “Mr. Fletcher, are you okay?”
Mason, finally taking his eyes off Celeste, muttered, ‘I’m fine,” before asking Trisha to find some rope.
Trisha ran off to find some while Mason kept an eye on Celeste, who was still shock, her eyes fixated on the blood at the back of
the man’s head.
“Don’t worry, he won’t die” Mason reassured her.
Collecting herself, Celeste nodded.
Trisha returned with shoelaces and bed sheets, and they tied the man up securely.
The police arrived just in time.
The man who’d been knocked out had regained consciousness and began cursing. As he was being taken away, he glared at
Celeste, Tll remember you!”
Mason stood in front of Celeste, retorting coldly. We’ll talk when you make it out alive.”
The abusive man was taken away by the police, and the unconscious woman was rushed to the hospital. As witnesses, they had
to accompany the police to the station to give their statements.
On the way, Mason revealed that the unconscious woman was his client. She had been a victim of domestic abuse for a long
time and had been trying to get a divorce but was constantly threatened with death by her husband.
Not too long ago, she suffered hearing loss in her left ear due to a beating. It was the last straw, and she decided to file for
divorce and move out.
The abusive husband received a court summons yesterday and had come to confront her about the divorce today.
Trisha was outraged, “She should have divorced him the moment he started abusing her! There’s no difference between having
one episode of domestic violence or countless others Why did she put up with him?”
Mason muttered. “Some people are very good at pretending to be sorry They bawl their eyes out or even get on their knees to
beg for forgiveness after every time they’ve thrown a punch. Women and men deal with emotions differently, right? Women tend
to be more emotional. And once kids come into the picture, they start to worry more. Add that to the mix of outdated beliefs from
a lot of parents in our country, who think couples fighting and scrapping is just part of the relationship. Maybe they went through
it themselves, so they brush it off as ‘no biggie‘. They think asking for a divorce is like making a mountain out of a molehill. Some
extreme people even think it’s a disgrace if their daughter gets a divorce. That’s why, for some women. getting out of an abusive
marriage is like pulling teeth”
“Not all women have a solid financial backing or family support. They’re victims, not the ones to be blamed”
