Chapter 108
Chapter 108 However, he found that Melody's face was expressionless, while her eyes looked gloomy. It seemed like the word "daddy" had just been a hallucination. Melody had never even said "Mom." Why would she say "Daddy"? He must have heard it wrongly.
After dinner, Adina helped Melody take a bath and cleaned up before she put the little girl to
bed.
Ever since Alden turned three and became more mature, she no longer had to help him with such matters. After she took care of Melody, she returned to the study to continue working.
Her studio was in its preparation stage, but she already had two projects on hand. One was Xavier Corporation's daily maintenance and subsequent update of intelligent products, while the other was the initial design preparation for Project A-F. The latter project required a lot of manpower, but she was having trouble with recruitment. It seemed that she had to look for her cousin for help. She remained busy until midnight.
Adina did some stretches before she got ready for bed. Suddenly... "Ah!" : A scream came from Melody's room. Adina immediately pushed open the next room's door. Right then, she saw Melody rolling around in bed with a pained expression. "Mel, what's wrong with you? Mommy's here." She rushed in and hugged the little girl in her arms.
She lowered her head and kept kissing the teardrops on Melody's face. Ten minutes later, Melody finally calmed down. "Mommy, did Mel have a nightmare again?" Alden stood in the room's doorway, and his face was mostly shrouded in darkness. Adina covered Melody with the blanket before she walked out of the room and softly said, " She hasn't had a nightmare in over a year. Did something happen in preschool today?" Two years ago when Melody had just turned two, it also happened to be Adina's busiest time at work.
Therefore, she would send the two kids to a child care center, but the teacher in that center did not have the slightest professional ethics.
Melody went to the nursery for just three days and ended up having nightmares for six months.
It was a good thing that she picked Melody up in time, or the consequences would have been unthinkable.
After that, she no longer dared to send her children to school.
Today, however, Melody had a nightmare again. Was it because the preschool that Ethan had found was not suitable either?
"Mommy, the preschool's really good. Ms. Jones likes Mel, and the children enjoy being friends with her too. No one laughs at her." Alden pursed his lips and said, "I think Mel was scared."
Adina snapped out of her daze. "You mean she was frightened by Dew?" Today when the children were dismissed from class, she was holding Dew by the collar, and Dew showed a grim face. Melody had been born prematurely, so she was skinny and weak. She was also very timid. She should not have gotten into a fight with Dew in front of the preschool.
Adina regretted it a little and sighed. "I was careless. I'm sorry."
"Mommy, I should be the one apologizing. If only I had shielded Mel's eyes in time."
Alden lowered his head with a self-blaming look
Adina's heart was soft.
She hugged Alden and slept in Melody's crib for the rest of the night.
They slept well throughout those hours.
When she woke up, Melody seemed normal. Aside from her eyes being a little swollen, Adina could not tell that she had cried last night.
Adina sent her two children to preschool and watched them follow their teacher into the classroom before she left.
There were some morning exercises in preschool, and Ms. Jones from Ninth Class had gathered all the children.
When it was time to count the number of children, Ava started to panic. "Where are Alden and Melody? Where did they go?"
The class leader raised his hand. "Teacher, Melody disappeared half an hour ago, and Alden went to look for her."
"What? Melody's missing?"
Ava's face turned pale, and she could not even support herself.
