Chapter 2212
Yesseca was speechless.
Celine's words had her suffocating with rage.
Coincidentally, a taxi was approaching their direction, and she hailed it.
The taxi pulled over right in front of her.
And she dragged Preslie into the taxi.
Celine reacted quickly and held the door, preventing Yesseca from closing it.
Furious, Yesseca shoved her.
"Bang!"
Celine fell to the ground and landed on her butt.
"Sir, step on it!" Yesseca urged the driver.
The driver stepped on the accelerator and drove away.
Celine cursed away as she sat on the ground.
"That b*tch! How dare she push me?! Go to hell, you witch!"
Calter rushed over to help her up, but she continued venting her anger, but this time, on her daughter. "Why raise a daughter when I should've just raised a dog! That heartless girl wouldn't even let us have a share of the cake when her business is doing so well!" His face darkened as she said, "That piece of trash. I'm going to teach her a lesson!"
Through gritted teeth, Celine proposed, "Let's make a scene right here tomorrow. See if she still has the mood to do business! Why should we treat her as our daughter when she doesn't see us as her parents?!"
In the taxi, Preslie was so close to crying.
She covered her face, too sad to say a word.
Yesseca patted her back in silence.
She knew very well that her words wouldn't serve any comfort to Preslie when she was in so much pain. So she could only comfort Preslie by showing it to her.
After a long while, Preslie finally raised his head.
She said, "Yesseca, I'm sorry."
Yesseca smiled.
She tried to sound as unbothered as possible. "C'mon, what's there to apologize for? Aren't we best friends?"
"I'm sorry that you had to suffer their blow too." Preslie explained, "If I knew this would happen, I would've refused to become your partner. We would be much happier if I was just a regular employee. Look what that got you into?"
"You silly girl. You're the only person I want as a partner. Selina was born into a wealthy family; she wouldn't be interested. You're the only person I trust other than her. Plus, I wouldn't be able to do this alone; I need support as well, and you play a huge role. As for your parents..."
Yesseca paused for a moment before continuing. "Ignore them. Please don't be mad at me for saying this, but I only thought they were two flies buzzing in my ear the entire time. I didn't bother to hear what they were saying."
Her words made Preslie burst into a smile.
She said, "You're right. They're just some annoying flies. I'll ignore them."
Yesseca nodded. "That's more like it! Our business is booming. Don't forget that we're planning to become lady bosses and expand the store! How could we be sad over such matters?"
Preslie was fueled with high spirits once more.
She sniffed and agreed. "You're absolutely right. Our goal is to become presidents of a company; we can't be bothered by small matters!"
The driver almost burst into laughter when he heard the two girls' ambition.
How nice it was to be young.
And to not know one's limits.
President of a company? Two young ladies?
They must be dreaming!
Did they think it could be that easy to become president of a company?
The driver couldn't hide the contempt in his eyes.
But little would he think many years later, his jaw would drop when he came across a piece of news.
The next day arrived timely.
The truth could never stay hidden forever.
What was more, Yuliana would probably have to stay in the hospital for at least a month.
Therefore, Tremaine took it upon himself to tell Madam Quartley the news.
Of course, he concealed some parts of it.
But it was enough to shock her.
She immediately went to the hospital and was relieved to learn that Yuliana was out of danger.
She sobbed, "It's all my fault. I drove her to this. I pressured her too much into giving me a greatgrandchild. If I hadn't done so, such a good child like her wouldn't have resorted to such desperate measures.
Tremaine was rendered speechless.
He had told his grandmother that Yulianna planned to take Ruth's life to remind her of Yuliana's evil deeds.
However, unexpectedly she put all the blame on herself.
He said nothing more.
Since she remained ignorant, he didn't want to waste time explaining it to her.
"She's lucky to be alive, so you don't have to worry anymore," he spoke lightly.
But Madam Quartley's eyes were misty. "How did you know Yuliana wanted to kill Ruth and switched Ruth out in time?"
Tremaine looked at her and said in a meaningful tone, "I used my brain."
She didn't know what to say.
Why did she have a feeling he was insinuating she didn't have a brain?
She wanted to express her dissatisfaction but restrained herself after giving some thought.
It was all thanks to him.
If it weren't for him, Ruth would have died along with her great-grandchild and even Yuliana.
She said, "I'm getting dotard, no longer as capable as you youngsters anymore."
"Grandma, there is one more thing I have to tell you." Tremaine suddenly turned serious. "Yuliana prepared the dagger to stab Ruth's belly. Perhaps she really is mentally unstable, just as you said. But do
you think someone like her can raise
a child?"
His words stumped Madam Quartley.
After a while, she asked, "What do you mean?"
He didn't bother beating around the bush. "She can't raise Ruth's child. Unless you want to witness another tragedy."
Her heart skipped a beat.
Tremaine wasn't wrong.
Yuliana already wanted Ruth's life; it was evident she hated Ruth to the bone. If she were to raise the child, there was no guarantee she wouldn't harm him.
Her head aching, Madam Quartley said, "Let me think this through. I need to sit on it."
Zorion had woken up.
He returned to his usual silly self.
And he had no idea what had happened the night before.
After lunch, he wanted to look for Ruth only to discover she was no longer in her bedroom.
Immediately, Zorion went to see Madam Quartley, but he ended up in a scolding Livid, she beat him with her walking stick. "Don't ask about that woman anymore! She has nothing to do with you! Never Took for her again!"
