Chapter 60 The Invasion II
“So tell me, Alpha, where is she?” The intruder asks in a very fake nice tone.
Tharros keeps quiet, assessing his situation.
“Tell me now or she is dead!”
“If you kill her right now, then you don’t have any power over me. I am not telling you anything.” His voice is calm.
I am still not over the shock that he chose his mate over the pack. At least he isn’t that stupid and is not ratting Amanda out. God, just the thought of her being mated to this creep makes me want to throw up and kill the bastard.
“Maybe I don’t have to kill your mate, a little harm can persuade you…”
He sets his weapon down on one of the canteen tables in front of two warriors-in-training and a family with two young children. It is not like they can move and touch it… Torture for sure.
He takes out a knife and, without hesitation, he cuts a long deep gash on Yolanda’s arm. She grunts but doesn’t scream. Tharros is not moving a muscle. Pack members are grunting around us. They can’t handle seeing their Luna suffering, but none of them are moving. Trapped in the Alpha command.
The rogue is looking around, not expecting the pack to react. He looks unsure. He didn’t bring a lot of man power with him. If he goes too far and the Alpha decides to withdraw the Alpha command, they are so dead. He knows it too.
“Donald, I want it quiet in here. Why don’t you hand out our lovely wolfsbane drink for our new friends!”
Wolfsbane, a flower, if I remember correctly. I read about it when I was researching my Luna-courage. A purple flower, toxic for animals, even humans can get some serious symptoms just by touching it. It makes werewolves docile and too much will kill them. They won’t be able to communicate with their wolf and can be completely disconnected from the pack link for quite some time.
In what feels like no time at all, we all have a little shot glass in front of us with a finger length of a purple, viscous-looking substance looking substance.
“Command your wolves to drink it all.” The rogue tells the Alpha.
“I am still drained from the forceful command earlier. Give me some time.”
“Oh, you have time. Five minutes to be exact.”
“Drink it”, the Alpha commands, and the omegas from the Pack take the poison and drink it.
I meet Igétas eyes, still feeling the strength he is giving me.
I pick up the glass and take the shot. Instead of placing it in front of me, I place it a little further from me. Amanda sees my gesture and takes my glass. Placing her hand on it so no-one can see it is already empty, she takes a ‘sip’ and puts it down. Igétas tells me with his little nod the coast is clear and I move into action.
I take her original glass and take the shot again. The smell is strong and my lips are tingling, not in a good way. Instead of putting the glass in front of me, I give it to Chris. He is resisting the Alpha’s command and takes my glass from me before I can put it down. The rogue is busy with the warriors on the floor at the back, telling them they will die soon if they don’t drink the two doses of wolfsbane.
I don’t waste a second and drain his glass as well. I was too late for Ela and she has the poison in her. Zack is stronger, so he takes the empty glass and I take his full one.
Four doses of the appalling poison have entered my body and I feel the effects of it. I feel sick, woozy and can’t feel my mouth anymore.I concentrate on my connection to Igétas, getting strength from him he can’t use and fight my inner battle to not throw up, and push the symptoms away.
The five minutes have passed. Every glass is empty. I look over to the Alpha, but he only has eyes for Yolanda and I can’t seem to get his attention. I can’t blame him.
Yolanda is still at the rogue’s side when he takes a warrior off the floor. I think it is Welton by the look on Ela’s face.
“Tell me where she is! Is she in the pack house or is she in one of the houses?”
Tharros stays quiet and Igétas grunts, wanting him to take charge.
“Okay then, I will shoot your precious Head Warrior with a silver bullet.”He doesn’t even wait for an answer and fires the gun, aiming at Welton’s stomach. The bullet enters his body on his left side. He growls in pain and slumps to the ground. Blood is everywhere.
The rogue kicks him to the side like a piece of trash and takes another warrior off the ground. I can barely see it happening. The scene plays out behind me. I focus on the two brothers in front of me. Both broken. The saying ‘’the Pack comes first’’ goes through my head.
A second warrior is shot and the Alpha says ‘’Stop’’.
“She is here.” He tells him, and I cry again for my friend.
“Command her to stand.” The rogue tells the Alpha and he does.
“Stand, Power of the Pack. Stand up now.” With all the power Amanda has, she stays seated. Sweat appears on her forehead and she can’t resist it any longer. I see her head hanging and her shoulders slumping. Before she stands, the Alpha commands again. She is almost out of her seat when I feel the Luna-courage raise through my veins.
It is unlocked and I feel the power and calming energy flowing within me. My brain goes a million miles per hour and I can keep up. With a battle cry, I stand up from the table, acting like I can’t stand not obeying the Alpha command anymore and making Amanda sit still in her seat.
“There she is.” The rogue sighs and I smirk with my back to him.
Giving Igétas a wink, I try to convey with my eyes I got this. Tharros looks in my direction, seeing me for the first time. His face looks shocked, and he is going to give me away if he doesn’t spot, idiot!
“Come to me, my love.” The rogue speaks.
Yes, I’ll come to you alright, and you are not going to like it.
