Chapter 2872 Searching For Matthew
Lost in thought, Sasha gazed at the wardrobe for a while. Although she had assured everyone, including herself, that Matthew would not be in any life-threatening danger, she knew deep down that her words were merely meant to provide comfort. Her heart would never truly be at ease until she laid eyes on him. It wasn't until there was a knock on the door outside the room that she hastily wiped away her tears. "Sasha, we have finished our discussion..." When the crown prince entered the room and noticed Sasha's slightly reddened eyes, the guilt in his heart intensified. He couldn't help but feel responsible for not adequately protecting Matthew, although he knew that his strength had nothing to do with it.
Noticing the crown prince's unease, she took a deep breath, slowly exhaled, and then forced a smile onto her face. "What's the matter? What plans do you have? I will do my best to cooperate."
After confirming her husband's disappearance, reason told Sasha that she should return to Hulwin or Cathay. Since someone was targeting Matthew, she might also be at risk as his wife, and her presence in Concordia would only burden the crown prince and his people further.
However, she couldn't make this decision. Restlessness had consumed her before, and now that she had news of her husband, she had to find a way to distract herself and prevent overthinking. She couldn't allow herself to break down!
Her slightly improved emotional state also provided some reassurance to the crown prince. "Sasha, this is our plan..."
The following morning, news of Matthew's wife, Sasha, visiting Concordia quickly spread throughout Seraphis. Members of the Commercial Union were alerted and flocked there.
"Miss Cunningham, welcome to Seraphis. This is a small gift. I hope you don't mind."
"Miss Cunningham, this is a five-color pearl I brought back from abroad. I hope you like it."
"This is an imperial green jade pendant. I hope you remain safe and happy."
Wealthy businessmen arrived with extravagant gifts, turning their attention to Matthew's wife since he refused to accept gifts or money.
Sasha greeted each visitor with a smile. "Thank you all, and you're welcome. Everyone, please have a seat, and I'll go and call Matthew. It's quite rude of him to be in seclusion even with guests here." As soon as Sasha stood up, everyone's faces turned pale, and they quickly dissuaded her.
"Miss Cunningham, that wouldn't be appropriate."
"Miss Cunningham, Young Master Larson's seclusion is important. We mustn't disturb him."
They intended to win Matthew's favor by sending gifts through Sasha; if they were to disturb him now, they wouldn't gain any favor at all.
After hesitating for a moment, Sasha turned to the crown prince. "Is that so?"
"Sasha, it is indeed possible that if we disturb his seclusion now, he might become agitated."
Upon receiving this response, Sasha smiled and addressed the guests who had come to present gifts. "I apologize, but we'll have to wait until my husband emerges from seclusion. Then, he can host a banquet to express our gratitude."
"It's fine, it's fine. He should focus on his work first."
After exchanging pleasantries, the atmosphere gradually cooled down. The crown prince stepped forward and made a suggestion after observing the topic waning.
"Sasha, since you have nothing to do in Concordia right now, why don't we take you out to relax? His seclusion will take some time, and we can't be of much help with the re-establishment of the Martial League."
After Sasha agreed, everyone offered their suggestions.
"Why not visit our River City? It boasts countless historical sites."
"We have many newly constructed zoos and ocean worlds."
Sasha declined everyone's suggestions, stating that she simply wanted to go hiking and enjoy the scenery.
