Chapter 409: Deed of the Dead
Guan Yin's body started twitching. Her hands moved to the sword that was piercing through her body and in a blink of an eye, she removed it.
"F*cking hell," she cursed. "That wasn't good."
Elliot nudged Lance's hand off of him and ran to her. "Guan Yin, are you alright?"
"Who says I wasn't?" Guan Yin quirked her brow up. "Dude, I'm fine. Don't worry about me."
Lance walked over to them with a concerned look, "You have a good power there."
"You like it?" Guan Yin smirked. "I pull my powers from the Abyss itself. My enemies are strong, and without the Abyss's help, I'm nothing."
The boys looked reluctant after hearing her. They wanted to think that random words were entering their minds, but what she said was clear.
She was drawing magic from the Abyss.
"Guan Yin, do you know what you're doing?" Elliot asked, regretting his words after his voice went meaner than he intended. "I mean, why? Guan Yin, you have so much power in you already."
The woman laughed and shook her head. Her eyes twitched and she flexed her body forward. Elliot looked at the wound on her stomach and saw that it was healing.
"Training won't work against monsters," Guan Yin said. "You need to become a stronger monster to defeat them. That's the only way."
"You're very brave," Lance smirked and leaned in. "But you have to remember, you cannot get too comfortable with that power. Or else it will destroy you completely."
"As if," Guan Yin chuckled. "I have kissed the Abyss ever since I was young. Have you seen both of your parents die right in front of you? And that you're so pathetic that you couldn't do anything.
"That was why I sought for the powers of the Abyss, and I immediately grabbed it," she continued. "Licht, Du Du, Malice. All of them, I'll crush them with this power. And no one's going to tell me otherwise."
"That's so reckless," Elliot said. "Listen to me first–"
"No, you listen!" Guan Yin yelled. "If you've seen your family getting murdered right in front of you, only then can you say about the choices I took. You can never question me because you don't know how I feel."
"You're right," Elliot sighed. "I'm so sorry."
"Good," Guan Yin said dismissively. "But I'm sure the Spectresses aren't the only ones aboard this ship. It won't be long before more enemies would come out."
Like on cue, the entire airship shook. They had to hold on to the railings after feeling like they were going to fall by how hard the ship was shaking.
"What's happening now?" Elliot asked in panic. He turned to face Guan Yin, but she also had a scared expression. "Guan Yin?"
"They did it," the general whispered under her breath. She slowly turned her head to face her back, eyes widening after the corpse of Formosa was missing. "Guys, let's go. This is getting dangerous."
Right where the body of Formosa should be, was a large rune painted in its blood. The rune was glowing with a bright green color, the brighter it glowed, the harder the shaking of the ship was.
"Let's go, now!" Guan Yin yelled.
"Why?" Elliot asked, but she had already gripped their wrists and leaped off of the ship. It was after a split second that a loud roaring noise came from the ship.
It broke in half. The wood and the metal from its parts were slowly disintegrating. The shield that once protected the ship had long since gone, and they had to watch the entire ship turn to sand and form a whirlpool in the air.
It was sucking everything in its path. Even the clouds around it were being forced to be seeped into the center. It was like a giant black hole, not picking what it sucks inside it.
"What is that?" Elliot asked while they were falling to the ground.
Guan Yin sighed and faced the whirlpool, "That's the forbidden magic, The Deed of the Dead. After its master is killed, in exchange for incredible powers, the master's body along with their soul and everything in its path will be sucked into Oblivion."
"In exchange for powers?" Lance asked. "Formosa was strong, but it wasn't that strong that you'd think it would have made a trade like that."
Guan Yin smirked and placed the spear that Elliot gave her on her back. She raised her hand to conjure her own spear before thrusting it to the ground right before they landed. The impact from her attack broke their fall, making them land safely.
"I told you, Formosa was just a plaything for Licht," Guan Yin said. "Licht is a Master Necromancer and he's merciless when it comes to women. He makes deals with the darkness like that just for his own goal."
"So, you mean the powers exchange for the Spectresses' souls were given to him?" Elliot asked, to which Guan Yin answered with a raising and lowering of her eyebrows.
"Since the deal was made, and he had the powers, he threw them out of his castle and made them as pawns," Guan Yin muttered. "He pretended to give them a mission, but he was actually disposing them."
"That's awful," both the boys chorused.
"The Spectresses aren't permanent positions like other generals," Guan Yin spoke. "In my three years of service, I've seen eight teams of his Outer Branch Generals. Every time he finishes the sacrifice, he would find a way to dispose them."
"Wait," Lance said. "So, you mean Licht is incredibly strong since he had made countless of deals using that method?"
"He's also immortal," Guan Yin added.
Lance's jaw dropped to the floor, "Then how are we supposed to defeat him then?"
"We don't," Guan Yin simply answered. "We avoid Licht as much as we can. Although we're stronger than him when it comes to a battle, I'm pretty sure we have a higher chance of taking down Du Du than him. Licht is immortal, it's impossible to kill him."
"What if we seal him?" Elliot whispered. "If he's immortal then, we can simply seal him."
"Hey!"
Their heads snapped to the side after they heard Ed wave his hands while running towards them. "Guys, the citizens are safe. Connor and Kaminari are protecting them."
"And why are you here?" Lance crossed his arms and pursed his lips. "What if they run into strong people? It would be hard if they fight alone."
"No, a group of women said that they're rebels against Licht," Ed said. "They're helping the Shyakans move as we speak."
"Wait, group of women?" Guan Yin narrowed her eyes. "What group of women."
"They call themselves Spectresses–" Ed stopped. "Why are you guys looking like that?"
The three's eyes were wide. They looked at each other in utter shock, unable to comprehend what Ed just said.
"Ed, have you been using your abilities too much these days?" Elliot asked, his face was starting to pale.
"I don't have much of the powers in my body, yeah," Ed replied. Elliot took out Ed's sword and made it point in his chest. "Elliot, what are you doing?"
"Purify yourself," Elliot ordered. "You're under a trance."
Ed tried to resist, but Elliot was pushing him, "Ed just do it."contemporary romance
"Elliot what's going in?"
"Now!"
"Nullify–"
Before he could even finish, Ed took a sharp breath like he just got out of the water. His knees fell to the ground as he inhaled deeply. "Women. Attack. Giant woman."
