Chapter 15
The crowd from the stands cheered the team on the field seeing the first playoff game. Jaden stood by the sidelines taking a cup dispensing water from a bucket.
“Looks like the home team is winning,” Peter said telepathically. “You haven’t come in to see me.”
Jaden glanced overseeing Peter standing behind the fence on the track.
“Is this your way of checking up on me?”
“You know your father sent me here to keep tabs on you and since I’ve been made adviser of the sky surfing team I will be able to keep abreast of everything that goes on.”
“My father sent you to make sure the plan has been working.”
“Your father is just being cautious.”
“Well he doesn’t need to worry because we are taking care of everything.”
The coach blew his whistle and another play started on the field as Jaden took a sip of his water.
“And the incident at the pep rally?”
“We were just having a bit of fun.”
“What about Dan Tracer?” Peter said. “Do you think he will join the group?”
“They are still in the process of winning him over, though there is someone in the way that I am trying to separate him from.”
“Who?”
“Kyle Smith,” he said. “He and Dan are best friends.”
Peter looked ahead onto the field seeing Kyle pull off his helmet running back to the sidelines.
“Very interesting.”
“Why is that?”
“He is the son of one of the council members who put your uncle away.”
“What?!”
“Don’t act out,” Peter said, his eyes growing wide. “Remember the old Earth saying you keep your friends close and your enemies closer.”
“Remember you must keep your true identity a secret before it’s time,” he said seeing Jaden balling his fists up in anger, “and from now on no more showing off for sport.”
“Anderson!” Coach Wilson hollered. “Back on the field!”
Jaden gave Peter a final look before putting his helmet back on and running onto the field. Peter started to observe Kyle who didn’t know he was being watched.
