Chapter LOSS
“Glad to see you, elder brother. We’ve missed you.” Kevin opened his arms. There was a loathsome feeling coated to his tone.
Alexander was lusted to kill and desire to destroy everything. He sped towards Devin and Kevin like a maniac, but he got repelled, and his body flew and crashed behind and fell.
‘What the—’
Both brothers laughed vengefully.
Alexander reminded himself that the step twins were Witches like their mother and they were secure behind a magical barrier.
Alexander strikes at it again and again.
“You can’t break it.” The first one said.
“Nor can you harm us.” The second one blurted.
“If you have courage, come out and fight with me,” Dracula shouted. “Instead of staying inside of a fucking bubble.”
The twins snorted. “We’re not in the bubble, brother. You are.” Devin pointed.
Alexander examined touching the transparent wall surrounding him, behind him, and on both sides.
He was trapped.
“Bring the Angel!” Devin, the oldest among the twins, ordered, gesturing at the guard.
“It’s amazing how the gold running in her veins is so vital for you, big brother,” Kevin smirked.
Alexander’s anger was at the boiling point, his eyes cold as ice, but when the two guards brought Paris.
His icy glare melted when he saw her. Her delicate wrist carried heavy weights of iron, tied up, handcuffed, bruised, and wounded.
“Paris...”
Her breath caught in her throat when she saw her mate. Her emotion dripped out of control from her eyes. Her strength no longer knew its purpose, the weight from the iron had been the only thing keeping her upright. Slowly she extended her arms, despite being tied up in chains and the weights—she was trying to reach him, to get close to him. She wanted to touch him, feel him.
“A-Alex...” Her voice was so faint.
“I’m here... don’t be afraid,” he murmured. And her tears began to drop more fluidly.
She shook her head. “No, you’re here. You’re my hero.”
Damn, that made his soul cry.
The twins could see in his eyes an anxious sense of interest. They saw something between disbelief and panic. And this is all one of the twins wanted--the Dracula vulnerable down on his knees, begging for life.
And he won’t appeal his mercy.
Alexander growled when he saw Paris’s condition, her hands and feet were tied up in chains. Her clothes were ragged, she looked weak and exhausted. Her state, her form was so terrible. She’d been crying tears of blood. She was not fed at all. She wasn’t strong enough to hold her own weight; she was that limp. Her eyes were closing.
“LET HER GO!” He growled so loud; that it woke Paris from her tranquility.
Alexander stood there inside the bubble and watched helplessly at his Mate. “What do you want from her?”
“Nothing,” Kevin said, shrugging his shoulders.
“What do you mean, nothing?” Devin looked at Kevin quizzically. Then he swept his eyes to Alexander. “He killed our mother, so we are going to kill your Mate so you can rot to death.”
“I didn’t kill the Witch.” Alexander sneered. Their mother was not his, so calling her mother never applied to him. Alexander loved and respected his father, but after his birth mother died, he left his father’s rule when his old man married the witch with two devil sons; Devin and Kevin.
“You’re lying!” Devin yelled.
“He’s right, brother. He didn’t kill our Mother. I did.” The evilest among the twins finally set the truth free.
“What?! Why?”
“Because she figured out I was born a supervillain. She’d envisioned the future. She warned me and told me I could never become the King and that I was the weak one. So I proved her wrong, how strong and powerful I can be. And killed a handful of villagers, and she had me imprisoned. She wanted me to rot in the hell hole forever, so I killed her.” Kevin shrugged his shoulders and saw Alexander and continued.
“I escaped from the jail and went to our parent’s chamber. That night Alexander was having a heated argument with our mother and his old man. The guards saw Alexander leave and I killed them both. It was a perfect plan.” He walked over to Devin.
“I lied to you that Alexander killed our mother and father, and you believed me and told me we should punish Alexander, and so together, we poisoned him.”
“You son of a bitch.” Alexander growled.
“But then this Angel came along and became his fucking savior and all my hopes—this supreme aspiration, was slipping away from me, and now... she has to die.”
“You’re a monster. How could you kill our own mother,” Devin said, feeling profoundly bad. “Did you also kill our birth father?”
“Ugh, he was just a nuisance. I couldn’t stand him, so yes, I did.” Kevin shrugged it off.
“You’re psycho. There is something very wrong with you, Kevin. You need help.”
“Ugh! You too,” he looked at his big brother, dismissively.
“Let them go, Kevin.”
“HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Let them go. Don’t make me kill you too, brother.”
Shocks rippled through Devin. Betrayal by family hurts more deeply than enemies. Devin was always there, as his partner in crime. Supporting him and helping him. A brother who looks alike. He, who most loved, and trusted, who would take a bullet for him, failed to see through his disguise.
“Kevin, I’m begging you to release Paris. Let her go.” Devin said.
“She broke your heart when you were playing Michael and chose him instead.” Kevin pointed his finger at Alexander. “How could you let that go? Forgive her, little brother.”
“She was never mine. She loved him and not me.” Devin picked up his hand to wave the magic to unleash Paris from the chained cuffs.
“You do that, and I won’t even hesitate to...” Kevin paused, leaving the unfinished sentences.
“I don’t care. I’m going to unleash both of them.” The other man ignored Kevin’s warning and waved his hand in the air.
Paris’s hands tied in the chains--opened up and she got free and fell on the floor.
Going against his order, Kevin produced a knife magically, and without another thought of concern or care, he jabbed it into his twin brother’s back.
The loyalty in his brother’s words and the honesty in his actions surprised Devin. ‘He actually did it.’
“I don’t hate you, brother, just disappointed in you, that you betrayed me,” Kevin said, twisting the sharp blade, while Devin choked with pain bleeding to death.
“That was painful to watch.” Kevin shook his head. Then his evil eyeball swept to Paris.
The faintest movement didn’t fail for Alexander’s eyes to notice.
“NO!” He struck himself at the shield.
“Such an Angel, it’s a pity she has to die.” Kevin screamed the word ‘DIE’ loudly.
Desperate, Alexander continued to assault until his energy faded to nil. Dracula battered at the barrier. Disappointed seared him. How strong was this shield? he wanted to break through and save Paris.
Once again magically Kevin obtained a vial filled with liquid poison and brought it to her lips. “This will rot your blood to black.” He tilted the tip of that glass to her mouth. Lips tight shut, Paris tried to move away, but Kevin snagged the girl’s hair harshly. She cried out of pain, and he forced the liquid down her throat.
It stung her. Burned her.
“NOOO!” Terror ripped through Alexander.
Kevin poured the liquid forcefully into her throat, she coughed, and he pressed her cheek harder. The force made her jaw open wide. The poison began to spread rapidly through her system.
Kevin knew she wouldn’t be able to handle it. The poison was so effective that, it disabled and impaired the powerful Dracula and on the contrary, Paris was just a delicate Angel.
Watching a man abuse his love, made Alexander’s anger go all the more powerful. So powerful Alexander burst the barrier shield.
Kevin became pale at what he was witnessing, and his eyes went wide in horror watching Alexander. He skedaddles out of danger.
Now nothing would stop Alexander. He pulled out the glass dagger and ran like a bullet fired from the gun toward his evil brother. But he got torn apart when he saw Paris, who was trying to reach for him. Her hand was held in mid-air, coughing blood.
Alexander crumbled to the floor beside her. “Paris.” He held her to his chest, “You’re gonna be alright. I’m not going to let you die. You’re going to be safe.” He had tears in his eyes.
He was distracted and Kevin gripped this opportunity; it bought him time to flee.
“I-I..” Paris tried to talk, but she choked. “I-I love y...” Her words went speechless. Her body went limp. Alexander couldn’t feel her heart beating anymore.
“P-Paris... Hey... talk to me. Look at me. Paris!” He called and chanted her name again and over again. “You can’t die on me. Open your eyes, Paris. Please don’t leave me, Paris. Don’t leave me. Please, please, please baby, don’t go.” He clutched her dead body to his chest. His eyes bleeding tears.
The light in their chest diminished...
And a massive pain ripped through Alexander, and his chest exploded, as their bond ceased to burn and his throat yelled out the piercing cry. “NOOOOOO!!!!!”
Then.
Paris’s body crackled and fragmented into a small white shiny crystal. He started gathering them, collecting them—crying for his mate.
Suddenly he realized Kevin had run away. And before he could run far away.
Fury and vengeance glowed red in Alexander’s eyes. He needed to get to Kevin. He reached for the blade, and like a shooting star, with a fire tail leaving behind, he went after Kevin.
