Lena, however, had no interest in hearing her explanation. She bluntly
interrupted, “I never expected any repayment from you, but I also never
expected you to do this to me.”
On the day she was taken to the hospital, Debra was the only one who
accompanied her. When the doctor announced the results, Debra was there

could still let you be my assistant?”
Debra was now worried. She thought Lena might be angry and then ignore
her for a while, but she didn’t expect Lena to be so decisive in transferring her
out of the assistant position.
Putting aside everything else, as Lena’s assistant, Debra enjoyed quite a few
resources in the company. If she was no longer Lena’s assistant...
Debra panicked. She rushed to the desk. “I really know I was wrong! Please
forgive me this time!”
Lena sneered, “Do you not know that spreading this news could become a
weapon for Janet against me?”
Debra fell silent.
She was aware of that and just thought Lena could handle these things.
“Even if I’m not afraid of Janet, I won’t accept an assistant who once betrayed

me.”
Without waiting for Debra to say anything else, Lena gestured for her to
leave.
Debra bit her lip tightly, glaring at Lena resentfully, and hurriedly ran out.
Lena glanced at her computer and quickly threw this matter out of her mind.
The company was currently bidding for a municipal project. Under normal
circumstances, Lena would have been in charge of this. But now...
Lena absentmindedly touched her belly for a moment and looked at the
computer screen again.
She had to perform better than anyone else to secure this project.
During the afternoon meeting, Lena had just entered the venue when she
saw Janet bringing Debra in.
Seeing Lena’s gaze on Debra, Janet raised an eyebrow and said, “Debra
came today to beg me to take her as my assistant. I guess she didn’t like her
previous job. Ms. Jenkins, you shouldn’t mind, right?”
Lena sneered, “Of course, I don’t mind. After all, she has been working for
you for a long time, right?”
Lena’s words drew curious looks from those around. Janet changed her

her seat.
