Fight for Me

Chapter Is it the bond?

That night

Layla was already exhausted from all the work they had to do that day. But at least they managed to finish. But she was more bothered with a certain set of hazel eyes at the other end of the dining table. It was becoming extremely hard to ignore them.

The whole time they were working in the office, she felt his scent drawing her to him. She couldn’t help but sit next to him. As desperate as she told herself she was being, the easier it was to ignore it with time. It eventually just seemed so natural, and comfortable. The two of them were talking to each other as if they’ve done it for years. Even though it was just about work, she actually enjoyed helping him with it.

Now she has to sit here and watch him on the other side of the table being fondled by a certain blond. He doesn’t seem bothered by it, though Layla is. She knows this means nothing good. There is no reason for her to like a man who not only has a supermodel on his arm, but who also outright rejected her.

It's the bond. It has to be. She keeps telling herself. It can’t be anything else. This couldn’t possibly be real. Otherwise she’s just become pathetic.

When she got to her room to go to bed, she quickly noticed a certain shadow waiting for her in the far corner of her room. She knew she was not going to sleep now.

She ignored it as much as she could and went to the bathroom to get dressed in her baby blue silk pyjamas. It was a buttoned-up shirt and a short. When she got out, the shadow had moved to another corner, but closer to the bed.

She just made a b-line straight for the door and decided tonight was a gorgeous enough night to go for a walk, barefoot and all.

She followed the trail Cody showed her to get to the lake. She’s just standing there, in front of it, enjoying the glow of the moonlight against the water.

Little did she know, there were eyes watching her.

Nicholas was enamoured with the sight of her. He didn’t expect to find her here.

The whole day he was basking in her scent, and the feeling of comfort he felt with her, gave him a sense of longing. He enjoyed his time with her. So much so, that he couldn’t get her out of his mind the whole night. He was so distracted during dinner, he didn’t know what was going on around him, as he kept on thinking about her. She was so comfortable talking with him, and not at all bothered by his presence, like so many people are.

He couldn’t even sleep with how restless he was. He just had to let his wolf out and go for a run.

And now he’s standing near the lake, with one of the most beautiful sights he has ever seen. Her long black hair flowing over her shoulders and slightly drifting in the wind. Standing by the lake in the light of the moon. Anyone could mistake this image as that of the moon goddess. He thinks to himself.

The breeze is carrying her scent making him take another step forward to get more of it. But the snap of a twig makes his presence known as she turns around and looks at where the sound came from.

Layla looks into the dark forest but can barely make out two glowing eyes. She takes a step forward to get a clearer view.

Nicholas takes another step forward, bringing his black wolf out of the darkness and into the moonlight, as he stares at her.

Layla knows this wolf. He seems familiar. A huge smile covers her face when she realizes, this is the wolf that she dreamed about the other night. She slowly walks closer to him with an outstretched hand wanting to touch him.

The closer she gets, the bigger she realizes he is. His face is just about at the same height as hers is. She takes another step forward and touches the fur on the side of his face. She softly giggles, never expecting it to be so soft.

She moves closer and pats the fur on his neck. She can see his tail wagging and moves up to behind his ear. She giggles some more, but the wolf takes a step back from her, making her wonder what he’s doing.

But in a matter of seconds she hears the sound of breaking bones and sees a large man straightening up in front of her.

“Nick?” She asks surprised.

“You shouldn’t approach a random wolf in the woods. It’s dangerous. I could have killed you.” He says in a low firm voice.

She raises her brow annoyed that he still finds the need to constantly scold her on random things.

“But you’re not dangerous.” She crosses her arms. “Your wolf may be big and scary, but your eyes are not.” She ends off softly looking at him.

He takes a step closer to her, towering over her. Layla is trying really hard not to look at his naked body, even though the moonlight is giving it such an extra allure to it. She knows she needs to focus, especially since he seems so serious.

“You have no fear, do you?” He whispers against her face.

“Of what?”

“Of me?.......of death?”

“Why do I need to be afraid of you?” She whispers back furrowing her brows in confusion. “But like many others I do fear death. It’s my fear of it that made me realize I can’t outrun what’s inevitable.”

Nicholas lifts his hand and gently caresses her cheek, feeling drawn to this goddess.

But feeling his hand on her skin, is sending warm tingles through her body, making her grab his large hand with her small one.

“Is it the bond?” She asks, not taking her eyes off of him.

But his confused look makes her continue.

“This feeling that I get, of being drawn to you, every time you touch me or even just being close to me.”

Nicholas can’t help but give a small smile. He thought he was the only one affected by it. She barely ever shows being affected by it. So he just gives a curt nod.

“And your scent?......I’ve always loved the scent of pine and cinnamon. But I never thought that together they would be so intoxicating.” She closes her eyes as she moves his hand closer to her mouth and inhales deeply.

Gggrrhhh. She hears a deep rumple in his chest and her eyes shoot open realizing what she’s doing.

She drops his hand and takes a step back. She knows she must be making him angry. She shouldn’t have gotten all sensual with him. He doesn’t see her that way.

But just as she takes a step back, he roughly pulls her against him and crashes his lips on her. He holds her against his body as he devours her lips. She is so caught off guard that she doesn’t know what to do, - push or pull?

But he turns her and pushes her against a tree. The rough impact makes her moan in his mouth as he swallows it. She’s enjoying his challenging kisses and wants to challenge back. So she grips him around his neck, pulling her deeper into him as she stands on her toes. Another deep growl sounds in his chest, as his hand grazes down her body and lifts her up under her thighs. He can feel every inch of her toned skin against his through the silk as they continue their feast of each other.

She pulls her head back trying to breathe, and he moves his onslaught down her neck to her cleavage. Too eager to get more, he roughly grips her shirt aside, popping a few buttons.

“Nick.” She moans out.

But he suddenly growls as he pushes himself away from her. She barely caught herself from falling from the sudden loss of stability.

Standing a few feet away from her, he stares at her, not believing what he just did. Her hair looks ruffled, her lips are swollen and her breasts are almost spilling out from the rip he made in her shirt. This young and innocent girl looks a mess, especially with that wary look in her eyes. And he dared to touch her with his dirty hands. He feels disgusted with himself for what he’s done.

Not sparing a second longer on looking at her, he turns around and walks away, back to the pack house. He can’t take this anymore. The lump in his chest has grown so much, it feels like it’s swallowing his heart.

Layla is just standing there confused with what just happened, and slightly angry. I should have known. She thinks to herself. She was so caught up in the moment, she wasn’t thinking straight. What could have come from that anyway? She would probably just have been a one-night stand, and he would have been too disgusted to admit it ever happened. She saw the look on his face. He doesn’t want her. He doesn’t want this. This is definitely just the mate bond. And he just got caught up in it.

She tries to straighten herself before she walks back to the house.

But that night she could barely sleep. Nicholas and Rebecca were going at it all through the night. And with her screams, she definitely wasn’t trying to be soft about it.

Did they even bother closing the door? Layla huffs as she shoves a pillow over her head trying to cover her ears.
