Chapter 947 The Scoldings Continue
I couldn't help but glance at Oliver.
I thought he was the kind of man who only realized what he was missing after he lost his partner. He probably wanted Lauren right now.
"What are we supposed to do now that you're weak and sick? Why do you do this to yourself?" Lauren walked in briskly, pulled Ivanna along with her and said, "Hurry upstairs and lie down."
I sniffed disapprovingly and said to Lauren, "There's no need to blame me for this. Ask her about it yourself."
Then, I turned to Oliver and said, "Please come in, Oliver. Why are you..."
Before I could finish my sentence, Lauren said, "You should go now, Mr. Oliver. There's nothing here for you, and I'm safe. Don't worry. Thank you for escorting me back today. This is about us women, and there's no need for you to stay. Please leave."
Oliver awkwardly nodded and said to me, "Take care of her. I'm leaving."
He turned and left. He seemed compliant.
Lauren closed the door before the elevator even arrived.
I bent down to pick up the scattered items on the floor, stuffing them into my bag.
Then, I looked at Lauren interestedly and asked, "What's going on? Did you... How? Did he bring you back?"
Lauren sighed helplessly. "It's such a small world! You asked Noah to get someone to bring me back, didn't you? The person who came to pick me up was him. If I wasn't in a hurry, I would never have gotten in his car."
"Oh..."
I was confused. "You've misunderstood me. How would I know it would be him? So, he's in Bourdamun too?"
Lauren said scornfully, "Yes. Wherever I am, he's there too, like a lingering ghost."
Then, she said shortly, "Don't mind me, just take care of her. Look at her. What is she even doing here? Go upstairs, quickly."
Ivanna chuckled and grabbed Lauren's arm, playfully saying, "Okay, don't be mad. I'm perfectly fine now."
"What do you mean, fine? Is it fine for you to lose the child? How do we explain this to everyone?" Lauren pressed Ivanna fiercely.
Ivanna was completely dumbfounded by Lauren's outburst.
I wanted to laugh, but I couldn't. It was good that Lauren was dealing with Ivanna today.
"You're too stubborn, Ivanna. I've
never seen anyone like you before. We've tried hard to comfort you many times, but you still do
whatever you want. I really don't net
know what to do with you," Lauren scolded without mercy. She stopped talking when she saw Ivanna looking sorry for herself.
Lauren shook her head helplessly and said, "Get in bed. Don't let me see you do that again. What do you want to eat? I'll make it for you. I must have owed you big time in a past life."
Then she walked toward the kitchen with a warm and caring demeanor like an older sister.
To be honest, she was becoming
more and more like an older sister to
us. She wasn't like this at all when first met her. She had been a delicate, elegant woman who
seemed to only know how to enjoy life and maintain a perfect image.
But now, Lauren had become increasingly gentle in private even though she still maintained her bold and powerful appearance.
Ivanna and I exchanged looks. We suddenly burst into laughter, and it was getting harder to control ourselves by the minute.
Lauren was bewildered. She turned
around to look at us, not knowing what to say: After a while, she said
t's going on with you two? If
"What's going
you have something to say, just say
it. What's the matter? I was s worried."
Still laughing, I pointed at Ivanna and said, "Don't be mad, Lauren. Ask her. I just gave Ivanna a piece of my mind a moment ago, so she can explain herself to you." Lauren's face immediately darkened and she stared at Ivanna sternly.
