Chapter 907
"Miss Blanchard, what happened to you? Please wake up, you're scaring me!" "Help! Someone, please help!"
Before Alicia went unconscious, she heard people calling for help and walking everyone in the house. When they all were bustling around her, she felt cared for and loved. She smiled faintly as she closed her eyes.
She found herself in her own room when she opened her eyes again. The nauseous feeling had disappeared and she smelled an appetizing aroma in the air. Her stomach was growling in hunger, but she didn't feel like eating. "Finally, you've woken up. Miss Blanchard, you really scared me!"
Raising her head and glancing around, Alicia apologized, "Mrs. Andrews and Mrs. Crouch... I'm so sorry to frighten you all."
"Nonsense. Fortunately, Joyce was present. Or else, I wouldn't have known what to do. Miss Blanchard, you're being too careless. Don't you know that you're pregnant? If anything happens to you, how would I be able to explain to Mr. and Mrs. Blanchard? Are you hungry? I'll go and heat up the porridge for you." "What? P-Pregnant?"
Alicia was shocked and her head was buzzing. She exclaimed in surprise and subconsciously put her hands over her belly.
"How is this possible? I just had my period last month..."
She had always wanted to get pregnant. However, whenever she had experienced any pregnancy symptoms, she would have her period soon after that. She found that it had been more than forty days now since her last period. Despite that, she had never taken this as a sign.
The preparation for pregnancy had been disappointing her. Moreover, she already knew that Frederick had been contracepted. Besides, she was too busy recently to think about any chances of her getting pregnant. How could this happen? Most importantly, why did she feel nothing when she stuffed towels under her shirt before showing up at the wedding?
"It might be due to changes in your cervix or anything else strange in your body, causing periodlike bleeding. Miss Blanchard, you are indeed pregnant. Your pulse indicates that the baby has been in your belly for more than four months. I can't be wrong."
Alicia's eyes widened a little as Joyce explained.
Why hadn't there been any changes in her belly in the past four months?
Looking into her questioning eyes, Joyce smiled and said,
"The foetal position might be the reason why your belly isn't protruding. I once met a pregnant woman who didn't show any symptoms of pregnancy. Her belly wasn't growing and she was having her period as usual even during her pregnancy. It was soon discovered that the baby was below her ribs so she didn't realize that she was pregnant. Luckily, she gave birth to a healthy baby at last, even though she had been wearing high heels during her pregnancy. This shows that anything could happen..." "Am I really pregnant?"
Tears of joy welled up in her eyes. Alicia grabbed Joyce's hand and asked,
"Mrs. Crouch, is my baby fine? I haven't eaten well recently and I've been moving all around. I also had bleeding previously. My baby..."
Alicia's tears burst out in a moment of panic. She had even slept with Frederick a few times not long ago! Did she unintentionally hurt the fetus?
She wasn't a good mother. She was too
incautious!
She recalled her life in the past few months and realized that she would get tired easily and often threw up. Back then, she thought they were merely symptoms of food poisoning. Further, although she had been more cautious with her diet for the past few months as a preparation for pregnancy, she hadn't really paid any attention to what she consumed.
Thinking of the signs she missed out previously, Alicia fumbled around in her bed anxiously.
Joyce grasped her hand and patted her comfortingly. "It's okay. I'm here, you don't have to worry."
At this time, the servant came back with the porridge.
"Miss Blanchard, Joyce is an expert in obstetrics and gynecology. She is also the doctor in the best private hospital in Bayton City! Many women came to ask her for medicine during their preparation for pregnancy so her consultation hours have always been fully booked. It is a shame that we didn't realize that the expert is actually Joyce. Otherwise, Mrs. Blanchard would have asked her to take care of you and your health." "Oh, you're flattering me." Joyce looked at the servant with a smile and then turned back to Alicia.
"Nelson and I bought a house next door so that we can have peace of mind. Otherwise, people would have kept coming and knocking on my door all day knew your mother for more than a decade. We used to play cards together and neither of us talked much about family affairs. However, we didn't expect to meet each other and became neighbors again. It must be fate! Don't worry, your baby is fine. It's just that you don't look well due to the accumulation of toxins inside you. Even so, it's not a big deal. It's probably because you're fit enough to resist the toxicity inside your body. I guess you like exercising very much, right?"
Alicia nodded affirmatively and Joyce continued,
"A combination of exercising and a balanced diet is the best remedy. In addition to that, it would be best if you always keep yourself happy. Your body will tell you if anything happens. You've nothing to worry about. Just follow the two recipes I gave you together with a herbal dish for one month, and you'll be able to get rid of the toxins. Eventually, you'll be giving birth to a healthy baby!"
"Okay, thank you, Mrs. Crouch."
Ever since she learned that she was pregnant,
Alicia felt something was changing in her state of mind. She was surprised by Joyce's recipes as the ingredients were quite similar to her usual diet. Nevertheless, there were
different combinations of the
ingredients, especially the extra herbal dish.
Alicia studied all the do's and don'ts at once. It wasn't difficult for her to keep those in mind and behave accordingly. Nonetheless, she was afraid that something might go wrong. Therefore, she went to the hospital for a prenatal care check-up again. She smiled broadly when she received the diagnosis.
She wondered if everything was fine with her body. All the indexes were all at normal levels, but her body was lacking iron and zinc. Was there something strange in her blood?
Alicia didn't take the diagnosis to heart. She also ignored the doctor's words about getting follow-up examinations. She thought that the strange thing in her blood was the accumulating toxins, as mentioned by Joyce.
In contrast to the dull sky far away, she felt that her life seemed to have brightened with hope. Alicia ate, walked, viewed flowers, listened to music every day, as instructed by Mrs. Crouch.
Day after day, she felt peace in her heart whilst greeting the birth of her child.
On this day, when she was strolling around, she saw two cats eating happily around a small plate in front of her yard. The kitten was so focused on eating that it almost crawled onto the plate, while the bigger cat kept watching. The caring look of the bigger cat touched Alicia's heart deeply.
A mother's great love for her child was no exception when it came to animals.
She took out her mobile phone to capture this beautiful moment. She then posted it with a caption. "Today is the happiest day in my life. These cats reflect my emotions so well."
At the end of the caption, she added an emoji of a family of three bears hugging each other. Among them, a bear's belly was much bigger than the other two.
But would he notice her post? Would he be able to understand the hidden meaning in her words?
