Chapter 606 Explanation
Vicky watched from the sidelines, her lungs nearly bursting with anger.
She took a deep breath. "Fine, so you, James, don't like me, huh? Well, I don't need you either! You're blind to not see my worth. You'll definitely regret this!" With that, she stomped her foot and stormed out of the room.
Asher glanced at the people inside the ward, then at the direction Vicky had left, and finally decided to chase after her.
After all, Vicky was a girl, and they were in a foreign country. He couldn't let her do anything foolish out of impulse. With Vicky gone, the ward fell silent.
Chloe immediately withdrew her hand from James'. "Who wants to marry you!"
Seeing that Vicky had left, James merely shrugged, not adding any more fuel to the fire.
Maggie's heart was filled with mixed emotions. James could have easily told Vicky that they were no longer together. But he didn't offer any explanation.
She wondered, "Did that mean... there was still a chance for us? Did he still have feelings for me?"
With this thought, hope flickered in her eyes. She took a step toward the bed. "James, you just..."
"Don't misunderstand. I was just too lazy to explain to her. You and I are in the past."
His words instantly extinguished the tiny spark of hope Maggie had just ignited.
Chloe, not wanting to be a third wheel any longer, left the ward, leaving the two alone.
Outside, Michael asked, "What did you talk about with him in there?"
"Just some work stuff."
James briefed her on the new project, saying that she might have to meet a new partner tomorrow.
Marvin and Luna were also standing beside her when Chloe finally said, "Why are you guys here? Is Ms. Miller here too?"
She didn't think it had anything to do with her but assumed they were here on business or to see James. It certainly wasn't about her. But Marvin said in a deep voice, "Aunt Chloe, I'm here to find you."
"Aunt Chloe?"
Both Chloe and Michael looked at Marvin, who was over six feet tall, with puzzled expressions, thinking he must have misspoken.
Marvin took out the DNA test report from his pocket. "Chloe, you are a member of the Miller family, Amanda's sister, and my aunt." Chloe opened her mouth but couldn't say anything.
Holding the report in her hand, she saw the 99.99% match displayed on it.
But she still couldn't believe it.
"Could there be a mistake? How could I be a child of the Miller family?"
She had grown up by Wendy's side since she was a child, and as far back as she could remember, she was a Nelson, having nothing to do with the Millers.
As if he had already guessed that she wouldn't believe it, Marvin said, "The report can't be wrong. If you don't believe it, you can do another test. I have some of Aunt Amanda's hair here." Chloe's mouth twitched. He had really thought of everything.
Chloe coughed twice. "How did you get my DNA?"
She didn't recall giving Amanda anything that could prove her DNA.
"Um... it was the last time you fell into the water. Aunt Amanda found it in your clothes."
Wow, she didn't expect Amanda to be so good at undercover work. If Marvin hadn't told her today, she wouldn't have known anything about it.
"So, Amanda said she returned to the country to find her sister... To see me?"
